Ship Underground Review

Located just a few minutes from campus, this nostalgic fast food joint offers a wide selection of quick favorites. They have some wonderful sandwiches, soups, burgers, and a selection of ice cream specialties that rival some of their “royal” competitors. Ordering is done at a large counter, and the menu is easy to read, painted over the windows. The service is friendly and fast, the food is great, and the prices can’t be beat. You definitely need to visit The Treat.

Sorry, everyone
I really liked The Treat, being a local. But it has closed down, unfortunately. We are hoping someone buys it and reopens it, but it has been closed for a few months now. The food wasn't the best, sometimes it took a while to get it. But it was a favorite local staple, where everyone went for breakfast and for ice cream after football games. It will be missed.

The New Treat
The Treat was sold to the same people who owned and operated The Hop; a very popular SU student place to eat. I highly suggest that you visit The Treat, which now has waitress service, and a unique large menu which combines parts of both the old Treat and the former Hop.

Go somewhere else for a good breakfast
I just spent some time in Ship and had the chance to eat out quite a bit. The Treat was a place I would not return to. There were four people in my party and no one was happy with their breakfast. The exterior of the building is unattractive and the interior is nothing to rave about either. The whole place has a kind of dirty feel to it. The food took quite awhile to arrive and they seemed very disorganized. The portions were large enough but that really doesn't matter when you don't want to eat what's on the plate. Something in my omelet was spoiled and tasted bitter but the clincher was that my sister had an omelet with a lovely black hair cooked into it. Needless to say I won't be returning to "The Treat" because eating there certainly isn't a treat.

CUTE
Besides some middle school booger hitting on my boyfriend right in front of me the place has some friendly people. My friend from town recommended it to me and it was great! The ice cream is aaaaamaaazing! I love the food and everything! Its decent place and after a long hot day... its the place to go to get a cool bite to eat.

Old timey
The milkshakes and ice cream are top-notch. When I ate meat, I used to get the Texas Cheeseburger, which was really good. Their fries are pretty tasty, too. A good, old-fashioned ice cream parlor-y place. The only complaint I have is that the employees (who are generally pretty curt and seem miserable) and most of the clientele look at you as if you don't belong there if you're not a townie.
