Subject: Literally, BEST professor ever!  (Mar 29 2013, 04:06AM)

Dr. James is my favorite professor and teacher I have ever had in my life! Her classes are my sanity, and I truly just enjoy being in them. I have taken 4 of her classes so far, and one more next semester(I may even take more for fun!)Her classes are not always super easy, but you learn so much in a fun way. Her classes are definitely not really hard though, just makes sure you come to class and take the notes. She is always willing to help students. Dr. James is hilarious and has the best stories. If you like cultural with her, you will probably want to be an Anthropology minor like me! If you have a chance to take her DO IT!!

Her classes are fun and interesting. She's an amazing woman who helps you understand the material and is always trying to make the material entertaining. She teaches so well with her power points you barely need the book. Her tests are easy and the essays help boost your grade. Easy A if you're willing to do a little work :D

Dr. James' class is really easy, you just have to do the work. She's a really interesting lady, and very nice. It's damned near impossible to get anything less than a B in that class if you do your work.

Her classes can be a lot of work, but she is so sweet and interesting that I would declare an anthro minor if I wasn't so close to graduation. I actually leave her class and share what I learned with my friends. She's always very passionate about the subject that it really helps keep your attention during class.

Dr. James is an amazing lady. She is so nice, so sweet, and so funny. She's really smart and knows a lot of interesting information. She's been all around the world and it's amazing to hear her stories. The class is very interesting and fun. The hour and 15 minutes seemed pretty short in this class. There was a lot of studying required for this class though, because there was a lot of information covered on the tests. There are a lot of readings and you need to make sure to read them because sometimes you have to write an essay about them and there are short answer questions on the tests about the readings. There are also questions about the movies so be sure to pay attention and do the study guides. The book is very interesting and I didn't want to sell it back, but we didn't use it much in the class. I HIGHLY suggest taking her. She's great :) Dr. James and this class are the reason I declared a minor in anthropology.

Dr. James is definitely the nicest person. She loves her job and learning more and she knows so much. She wants to tell you as much as you want to learn and makes the material all connect to make sense. I wouldn't say it was an easy A because her tests were hard for me, but they weren't impossible if you just study. She doesn't take attendance, and her family tree project is super easy and the essays were easy too. I would say take her if you get a chance because she is very interesting and knows how to hold people attentions, even if it might be a lot of notes.

Dr. James was an amazing professor for anthropology. She is so knowledgeable in every aspect of the subject. Her intelligence just dazzled me. Not only is she incredibly smart, but she is also hysterically funny. I always had fun in her class. She was always interesting and intriguing, even the boring stuff she made fun. The tests are hard, so study for at least 2 hours. But I was sad to leave her class at the end of the semester. Even though I am only a freshman, I can safely say she is my favorite professor so far. Take her, you won't be sorry.

Dr. James is an awesome professor, like my title dictates. Her classes are very informative and she's just a nice person overall. Cultural Anthro has 5 papers, a kinship assignment (which is easier than it sounds), and three tests. The grading system is a little odd, but she definitely makes up for it. No class attendance, although I highly recommend going; you'll learn more. The book really isn't needed unless you're not a big fan of notes. There are a lot of notes. Otherwise, its a very easy class and a great Gen Ed selection. Take Dr. James. You won't regret it, unless you're an idiot. I can't help you then.

Prof James is by far the best prof I have had in my years at ship. She is friendly, flexible, and beyond helpful whenever possible. She does require alot of work at times, but if you can not come out of her class with a good grade it is solely because u didn't do it. Anthro is my minor so I have had all three profs here at ship and I continue to take her classes whenever possible. I would advise the same for anyone taking up anthro or just taking one of her classes to fill credits.

Dr. James is amazing!! Her class is always entertaining, and her tests are not that challenging. She lectures, but has all of her notes on an overhead, so it is easy to know what she wants u to learn. The book was not necessary! We were only tested from class notes! I recommend taking her because she is funny and interesting.

I am in my third class with Dr. James this semester. She is my favorite professor here and was the reason I became an Anthro minor--I wanted to take more classes with her and I liked the subject material. She's totally hilarious in class; talking about sex and the Greeks and monkeys and picking "bugs" out of students' hair to show how primates groom each other. Bottom Line: If you're going to take an Anthro class, take Loveland or James. Lorenz is a prick. I never needed the book in her Cultural class and I doubt I'll need it in her Physical (in that now) class. Just copy her notes, study the study guide, and you'll do fine. Go to class; you'll actually learn and have fun. Do the very few assignments she assigns. See her before its due if you're worried about the grade. She'll tell you what to do to get an A.

Prof. James is a nice lady, but she doesn't just give out A's. You must take the notes and study the material for her three tests. There are four or five readings out of the book that you must write a page reflection on, but you can always get a check plus if you write about your personal reflection. She doesn't take attendance and there is no need for the textbook. Don't read it! All her test questions are straight from the notes. I studied and got an A. The kids that slept probably failed.

Alice is a fine teacher, very accomodating, experienced, and light-hearted. She's one of those teachers who is teaching because she very much loves teaching. The class isnt very hard. Copy notes from overheads, listen to her stories, do responses to readings every now and then. tests are directly from the notes and she posts study guides to aid the process. I strongly suggest her [].

Dr. James is a sweetheart. She really put in all the effort she can to make the class interesting. There is a couple of 1-2 page papers to hand in which are all easy essays on short readings. One project on kinship is easy- I got an A+ for only working on it for one hour. I learned a bunch from Dr. J and I would take her again if I could. You should too, she is awesome!

Her classes are easy. You take notes the whole time, but it isn't boring. She is animated and amusing. She very much LOVES her field, she was born an Anthropologist. She wears the most colorful jewelry too! She gives out study guides, be sure to study, the first test is easier than the second. She has all sorts of resources online.

It is worth taking a class with Dr. James. She is naturally funny and animated, and incredibly interesting. She was meant to be an anthropologist. Her tests are long though, and there are a lot of notes to take, but the stuff you learn is definitely worth it. I'd definitely recommend taking a class with her.

Enthusiastic, fun, challenging, Friendly, interesting, knowledgeable! This is what all professors should be! She gives a decent amount of work but she makes you want to do it. Her lectures are interesting. She is always there to talk or listen. If you are planning on teaching, she is a great role model. No matter the case you will walk away from her class with a smile, expanded schemata, and a desire to learn more.

Dr. James is a very good proff. When you get up into the upper level classes it is worth it. At quote from Dr. James: (while discussing a paper for physical anthro) "You guys all know about gene flow. Move out f***ing like bunnies" She also has a tendency to use the middle finger a lot. very funny.

Dr. James is a professor that you will never forget. While some may think that her 111 class is bullsh*t, try taking her upper level classes. Her 111 class simply opens the door to many exciting things in her upper level classes. Not only will you enjoy the class, but you will walk out a more well rounded person.
