Lennie Jones... He is a character. He will tell jokes that are funny, but sometimes offensive. His exams are 10 multiple choice questions and he drops the lowest exam. He also gives you a review sheet that is the same format as the exam with a different problem and it's worked out so you should know exactly what to do. He assigns homework and goes over it but does not collect or grade it so failure to do it is just cheating yourself. Critics He moves at a fairly quick speed which means you have to learn quick He gives 5 point pop quizzes if a phone goes off on material he is currently teaching and will add a problem if another phone goes off. Though I'm not a fan of having tests and no other assignments, it is nice to know if you have a bad day or forget to show up, one test will get dropped.

Absolutely the best professor/teacher I have ever encountered. He is truly in tune with the class and not someone who is talking while you write down notes. He jokes around a lot which is great, it lets people who are usually decline to speak more comfortable, and also just helps class go by faster. I took him last semester and enjoyed every class, even though he says you don't have to attend each class, I just liked being there and that's why im taking him again this semester and whenever possible in the future. Open notes on tests and a practice test that is literally the test with different numbers instead. Take him if you want to succeed.

Dr. Jones is by far the best professor I had my first semester of college! He goes over each and every problem you could possibly encounter for each test. He gives you the kinds of problems you will have on the test, before the test. Fair Warning - He jokes around a lot. Don't take the jokes too seriously.

Lenny Jones is by far the best professor at SHIP. There is a lot of group work which is easy points for everyone. The class before the test he goes over every single problem on the test so you can take notes then you can use those notes during the test. I would recommend him to any student taking a math class.

I am currently in Finite Math with Dr. Jones and he makes class very entertaining with all of his humor. All of your tests and quizzes are open book open note so you can look off of anything to help you, which makes it so easy to get an A. He assigns homework but it's only for you to practice problems, he doesnt grade the homework. Pretty much every class is taking notes on new material and then he will give you examples on how to do the problems, and then at the end of class you have classwork that you do within groups of your choice, and once it is done you can leave so most of the time you get out early. If you have the chance to take Dr. Jones don't hesitate he is the best!

Professor Jones is a good guy and tries to lighten the class every now and again with jokes. He does a lot of group work which makes the classes go pretty quick. His tests are challenging but he's always willing to give you help if you need it. Basically, just show him that you're trying and he'll give you a good grade [I was supposed to get a C but he bumped it up to a B-!] I'd take him if I were you. [The summer course goes really quick - so do that if you can.]

Lenny Jones is the epitome of awesome. He is the greatest prof that I've had in my first year at Ship. Homework is never checked, we have in class assignments now and then that are worked on in groups. Best of all, the tests and quizzes are open book. Go to class and you are guaranteed at least a B.

If you are not good at math, Lenny Jones is the perfect teacher for you. Even if you are good at math, take him for a super easy grade. I absolutely HATE math and I got an A. He curves like 80% or something. Every quiz and test are open note, open book. He even e-mails you a copy of the tests and then goes over that the class before the test - so you can use that practice test when you take the actual test. They are identical except for the numbers. He is pretty funny and very nice. The final is optional. I opted not to take it since I had an A, so I'm not sure how that was, but it sounded hard - cumulative, closed notes, no curve. Overall, I would definitely recommend taking him if you want an easy grade.

Even tho I ended up getting a C+ in his class it was because I missed 2 class works which avg'd out to be a 0/60 which is practically an entire exam. He gives you the practice test which is virtually like the test, everything is open note open book. He really just wants you to do well and grades out of 80% which means you get 20% pts off the back. He doesnt let you make up anything which kinda evens out the 20% he gives you if you miss something but he is a fun teacher and relates everything to fun stuff. Anytime I have a math class if Jones is an option im taking it

He curves everything right off the bat and lets you use your notes. I wish I could take this guy for applied calc! He doesnt directly give you the answer, but hidden in his scarcasm he tells you the answer. The exams are EXACTLY like the practice ones-the numbers are just different. He's funny and entertaining to watch and as long as you ask questions when you don't understand you'll do great. He's always around on his office hours, so if you're really struggling-try that. If you can't pass Lenny Jones, you won't pass at all.

Seriously guys...sign up for Jones (if the + posts don't give you that signal already). Not only does the guy really know his stuff and teach it well, the class is passable. Classwork counts for pts which help your grade, there is no homework. The tests have a pretty significant curve on them...but even if you mess up two of them, you can still get by with at least a C if you come to class and do the classwork. He wasn't one of those boring proffs either, he tells jokes and kinda gets down on our level to break it down. It was an enjoyable class and I came out better for it. So if you get the chance. Take Jones in a heartbeat...it's probably not something you'll regret. Good Luck Folks!

Lenny Jones is one of the coolest proffesors, he's always swearing, throwing chalk, and giving math examples that involve sex and drinking. He gives notes every day and class assignments every class as well (so you do have to attend class most of the time even though he doesn't take attendance). He allows you to use your notes and book for all exams and gives a review the day before all tests. Sometimes he even allows you not to take the final (and it doesn't hurt your grade if you don't). Also he has this great grading system which is hard to explain but makes it almost impossible to fail. This professor rocks!

All his tests and quizzes were open note/book and multiple choice. Everything is also graded on a 80% curve. (A 70/100=C in his class is 70/80)We got out early a lot of times. And if you need help he will give it to you. If you are bad at math take his class and just show up.

I'll be the first to admit that I suck at math but Dr. Jones's class was extremely easy as long as you go to class. All tests and quizzes are open note/open book and the practice tests are "dangerously similar" to what's on the real test. He goes over everything on the practice test as a review for the real test so you know the answers and can use them for the test. He doesn't lecture, which is great for a class that's an hour and 15 mins. He picks problems out of the book or makes something up and then works out the problem step by step on the board. He's a funny dude, especially with his "your mom" jokes. If you have to take applied calc (or finite math) TAKE HIM!!!

Ahh...Dr. Lenny Jones...What can I say? This is the Coolest professor, by far, that I have ever had! I had him for a MW class, so it was in 1 hour 15 min sessions, which ordinarily in most classes would seem like a death sentence. But not in his class, his witty humor, and berating of students, especially me - when I would ask "stupid" questions - kept the class going by fast and added an entertainment value that can not be found in any other classroom. He likes to joke a lot, but at the same time you learn a lot. He is very good at converying information in a way students can understand - such as the "your mom" formulas. He's real nice outside of class, always willing to spend time berating you in his office when you go to him with a problem youre trying to solve and youre making stupid mistakes. All I can say is this, there is no way you can go wrong taking Jones - I have yet to meet a student who hasn't loved him and his teaching style. And I feel I should mention, as many other students have, his tests are dangerously similar to his practice tests, which make them a breeze, at least for most students. If you read this Dr. Jones, I would like to take the time to thank you one last time for everything...so, THANKS!! I hope to see you around next semester. Have a good one.

So, I took my concerns to him about my grades and he really understood where I was coming from and offered as much help as he could. He doesn't like to see his students fail and most likely will not fail any student as long as they put the effort forth. I highly recommend him because he is so generous and understanding.  If this guy gets a negative review, I'll be surprised. He's funny, down to earth, and just an all around "cool" guy. You almost want to ask him to come out to the bars with you. He gives you a psuedo test to study before the actual tests, which makes learning and doing well that much easier. I personally think he's in the top 5 of the most intelligent people on campus, but you wouldn't think it by the way he acts. If you need to take a higher level math course, take him at all costs. However it's hard to get him, because it doesn't seem like he's signed up for many things... his priorities are going to cancun on the weekends.

He also makes you take a practice test which is dangerously similar to the real test. The practice tests aren't grade and when i say dangerously similar i mean the numbers are changed and yes you get to use that for the tests too.

Subject: He isn't actually that easy.  (Feb 10 2015, 10:35PM)

These comments made him out to be a cake walk, but he's actually not. His tests are pretty rough, and he doesn't give a schedule so its just kind of thrown out of the blue "oh were having a test next week!" The test itself is usually like 5-10 questions only, where some problems make up some 10% of the whole test...and he doesn't give a "study guide" as it was said. I guess maybe because this was Calc I and all these comments are from like Pr-Calc, Dev Math, College Algebra, etc. People act like he's funny, he's just kind of a dick a lot of the time to students. I know a few FERPA violations happened with how much he disclosed kids scores on exams in front of the whole class. He never did anything to me personally, but I never found him that funny. He's a great teacher though, he definitely knows how to teach, but he is by no means easy and he isn't funny[].
