Subject: Funny!!!  (Sep 27 2005, 09:56AM)

Dr. K is a little bit off but thats what makes the class funny...it sure isn't the notes you take everyday. They are notes that are given out and you have to fill in the blanks like a grade schooler but it makes it easy...and boring. The tests are pretty hard and he doesn't believe in the "Gen Ed is easy" Theory and he point blank said that in the first day of class. The projects aren't too bad and actually can help with the grade. In all he was pretty good.

I've had no other Bio Profs to compare him to, but based on my experience, Klotz is OK. Lab exams are killer (I got 2-D's and 1-C), but his lecture exams are easy. (In his defense, the lab exams are written with input from all BIO Profs. If he wrote his own, it would probably be much easier.) He gives you a study guide telling you exactly what will be on the lecture exams. You don't have to go to lecture, but you better make sure you get notes from someone. He does all powerpoint and the exams come directly from that. As far as his personality, [] you'll get a kick out of him. [] If I needed another Bio class, I would take him again.

Dr Klotz is deffinetly a little bit weird, but hey what bio proffesor isnt? All in all he is a really nice guy who tries to make class interesting. The only problem is that most of the time he is really hard to follow. His tests werent to bad and he gives other assignments to help bring up your grade like an easy group project, or checking your notebook at the end of the semester. Honestly i wont lie his class is really confusing at times, but if you go to him for help and just do the best that you can to understand than you wont have problems with this class.

Of all the Principles of Biology I professors, Dr. Klotz has to be the best. His class is pretty difficult but what Biology course is not. The only bad thing about Dr. Klotz is that he can overstress spelling. During our lab exams, if you cannot spell a word correctly, he'll take off points. And if you've taken biology before, then you know that some words are near impossible to spell correctly. Other than that he's pretty good. He does give you an outline to the test questions and also doesn't make you do long lab reports. I'd recommend taking Dr. Klotz.

Worst prof. at Ship for me so far. Is an ass when you ask him a question, will not even think about curving even though the other professors do. You take notes literally the whole entire class period and never get out even one min. early. Don't take him! I didn't retain any info.

This man is terrible. I can not stress that fact enough. He is boring, he drones and rambles on and on, and his tests are impossible. I dont think a single person in my class had a clue what was going on. Do not take this man for any reason whatsoever. He is ridiculous

I had a hard time with this class because he couldn't make up his mind. He would tell one student to do one on the homework then change his mind and tell another student another thing. He also doesn't explain stuff very well. He expects you to know how to do everything already, and when he does try to explain whatever you asked he can't, cause he just goes on about nothing, or totaly the wrong answer to your question.

Dr. Klotz is the worst professor I have ever had! His lectures are boring, you just take notes from a power point. He gives you the exam question during the notes, but they do not help because they are not the same questions on the exams. During lab you learn nothing because half the time he doesn't even know what he's doing! And he doesn't explain anything when you ask him a question. Try to avoid him at all costs and take a different professor!!!

Dr. Klotz knows plants, that is it. He is so confusing! He shows power point notes that he doent explain. He gives the test questions then doesnt ask them on the exams. He grades lab reports like they are english papers and will completely rewrite the paper for you in language that he would have used. I am disappointed casue I am a transfer here and have taken a number of other biology courses at a community college where the professors didnt even have their doctorates. He has his and is definitly the worst professor I have ever ever had. Dont take him, you wont learn a thing; what a waste of money.

Dr, Klotz was not the greatest teacher in the world well he wasnt even a good teacher. I didnt learn a damn thing and I failed all of his tests (meaning below a 50% both times) and some how received a C on my report card so I guess I cant complain but if you want to learn...take someone else...

I didn't like Dr. Klotz that much. It was very hard to concentrate while he was using hand motions, and talking about how "rainbows are so wonderful". He didn't know what he was talking about. During lecture, he would show his power point notes and would just go over them, he wouldn't really explain anything. Even though he did give us exam questions within our notes, he never used those questions, and half of the time there was something on there that we never went over in class. Unless you want to deal with this stuff, don't take him.

Dr. Klotz is very flighty...and he doesn't ever seem to know what he's doing. His class isn't very hard compared to the other Bio teachers b/c he gives you all of the notes you need and you don't really need to read the book b/c he also gives you exam questions.

Does he stutter? Yes. Is the whole class just old slides with a fill-in-the-blank packet? Yes. However, if you just listen to the poor guy talk and study the study guides (he gives the quiz questions before the quizzes), you will do fine. There are two exams and about five quizzes, plus this Internet project and an easy paper. Honestly, if you put some work into the class, you'll do fine. He is also very funny sometimes, even when he doesn't mean to be!

this is tough. Klotz is not the best professor, but he's not awful either. He is by far, the weirdest professor I have had in college so far. His class consists of power point slides and worksheets which gets really boring. He's difficult to follow sometimes (actually all the time) and you'll probably be left confused. He gives 5 quizzes during the semester, which are relatively easy because you get a study guide and the questions come right from it. He gives study guides for the tests, but they're tough anyway so study up. Then there's a few small assignments like this internet thing and a two-page paper which are meant to boost your grade. He does like to relate everything to plants and he uses weird hand gestures-just a side note. He's a funny little man who made bio 100 harder than it probably should have been, but if you're looking for a bio prof he's not that bad. If you do the work and study for the tests you should have no problem getting at least a B.

He isn't a horrible prof, but all you do is copy down his notes as he reads them to you. His labs are complete chaos. The man can't run a lab to save his life, but overall, the class is pretty easy.

Overall it wasn't too bad. There's alot of information between the labs and lectures. His tests are pretty hard, but he gives you all the questions and he sticks to them. If you don't like to study or read, this prof isn't for you.

Dr. Klotz is a nice guy, but he knows his plants. If you dont want to learn or suck in bio, dont take him. Tests are pretty hard, but helps students out with homework grades and stuff. If you want to learn then take him.
