Dr. Kohn isn't the most interesting prof., but I think he teaches this class well. Our grade consisted of 2 Exams, 1 Final, Team Homeworks (about 5), and a paper. For the exams, the best is worth 30% of your grade, the worst is worth 10%, the final is 20%, the team homeworks are worth 15%, and the paper was worth 25%. No attendance requirements. The exams were straight from his notes in class and the homeworks. I think he said he will eliminate the team paper for future classes b/c he didn't like the results....we were supposed to work in teams and he said it seemed like we wrote sections on our own and combined them (but he still gave good grades). If you don't go to class, I don't think you can do well b/c he covers a lot very fast. He writes all his notes in outline form on his dry erase board and is constantly erasing and adding more. He never learns your name and you never talk in class, just listen and take notes. If you like a class with participation/conversation, don't take him, you'll be bored to death. If you like classes where you listen to lecture and take notes....he's the prof for you. Pick your team wisely b/c the homework is challenging.

He can't teach, is very unorganized, one of the most boring and difficult classes to sit through. All of the sections' class average was a 55% for the first test. Class is extremely boring, kind of like watching paint dry on the wall. Everyone just sits in class mindlessly trying to take down his chicken scratch notes from the board, while also just trying to stay awake. Take someone else!

Alright, a relatively nice guy, but not a good teacher. There is no participation, so just sit there and listen to him ramble and scribble on the board for an hour and 15 minutes. Not to mention you can barely follow the notes he gives. He writes on two different boards and jumps back a fourth and is very unorganized. If you have an option take someone else...

Avoid Dr. Kohn at all costs. I'll give the guy credit, he ATTEMPTS to try to make things easier on his classes, but it never helps. He has 3 tests and 2 papers due during the semester to help break things up, but his tests are VERY difficult. For my particular class, our class average on the three tests were 65%, 41% and 69%... you read right! Kohn wont curve either, so dont count on that!

Dr Kohn is very intelligent, and his class is kind of dry. I had him for DSI330, and the class was not easy by any means. One good thing is that he lets you do the homework in a group, which helps. His tests are VERY HARD. The class average is always very low. I never scored above 70 on any of the tests, but the points from the papers and homework got me a grade of C+ in the class overall. yay.
