Dr. Libertin is an interesting professor. She is very.. odd.. I guess is a good word, but so incredibly smart. She was very excited about what she taught and she provoked a lot of thought. I got very good grades in the class. People often say Libertin is not a good professor, but I really liked her a lot.

Dr. Libertin is a very smart and caring professor. She'll help you in whatever way she can but you must try in class. She really wants students to succeed and you will if you work with her. She has a sense of humor. I hope I get to take more classes with her.

Behind this professor is real compassion and an attempt to make us learn how to write and comprehend what we read. She makes every attempt to make the class exciting without scaring us to death that we may not pass. Make an honest attempt to do the assignments. She is quite intelligent, well-read, and clearly deserves to be a professor! I really believe that she is trying to teach us, which we must admit at times, can be difficult : )

Dr. Libertin is one of the most considerate professors in Shippensburg! She is always in her office and is pretty lenient about grades and paperwork. While her classes tend to stray from topic, she is always there and is obviously passionate about her work. Her grading is very reasonable and her classes are always interesting. I've taken her 3 times and wish I could take her more!

She is one of the easiest professors on this campus. You have about 6 essays, but wait.. she lets you rewrite them however many times you want to improve your grade. So basically you make your own grade in this class. Even though half of the time she has no idea what to do, she does know how to teach you how to write. She missed 5 classes when I had her. I advise you to take her, it is an easy A and you will def learn how to write.

If you are looking for an easy A class take Dr. Libertin!!! It was by far the easiest class I have ever taken...ever! She is really unorganized and her mind wanders off but it's very very entertaining! She is hilarious without trying! We only wrote one essay and I wrote complete bs and still got an A. We were supposed to do entries on blackboard but she never checked them. Half the time she wouldn't show up which is great. So basically if you are looking for an easy easy A and want to be entertained along the way take Libertin!!!!

When I attended Ship, I took many classes with Dr. Libertin. She is an excellent teacher. Contrary to what some of these posts seem to imply, Libertin does NOT "dumb down" her classes to make them understandable to students. Rather, she peaks students' interest, thereby making her classes seem easy. Additionally, she was always available to me and my classmates to discuss any questions or concerns. I would highly recommend her classes.

For those of you who have written negative comments about libertin, you're horrible at life. She rocks me to death and is terribly bright. Sure, you walk into class not sure of anything thats due, but the valuable lesson is that at least you have a class that you don't need to worry about petty school work. No due dates, no midterm, no final. Take it easy and take Libertin.

Dr. Libertin's classes are the easiest to get A's in! She is VERY scatterbrained and usually rambles about nothing but her class is SO easy! It was a LITERATURE class and we only had to write TWO paper!! one was 3 pages the other was 10. We also had to do an annotated bibliography of 10 sources for the final paper, but it actually helped me write my paper. If you talk about how things make you feel in the paper, she will give you and A. Also, if she wants you to come to her office to read your paper, GO! Just tell her a story about your day and be sweet with her and she'll give you A's or B's. Be nice to her and she'll be nice to you!

Some hate her, some love her. Shes really into what shes doing, but shes incredibly forgetful and all over the place. Shes funny but wow... going to class is nothing but confusion, especially if you never go (like i did). A couple of papers and numerous assignments that she usually forgets she assigned. Just go to her office a lot and talk with her about your papers or just anything and you'll get a good grade. Oh yeah, the papers dont really have a due date. She gives massive extensions, seriously...like..up to a month. I turned in the final paper about 2.5 weeks late and got an 89.

Ok people I have had doctor libertine now twice and im going to have her again next semster. I am an english major so writing comes easy to me, but for her you dont need to be a great writer. She doesnt show up for class, she has no attendance policy, and gives out like ten extra credit points at random just for showing up to class on a rainy or snowy day. I didnt go to have my classes and I still get A's. If u want an easy grade take her class. Just do the work she gives you and ignore her talks in class and you will be on your way to the easiest grade you will ever get at ship.

She is one of the most strangest profs I've ever taken. Her brain moves at a different pace as everyone else and its not always slowly. She knows her shiat, except sometimes it gets jumbled. Example: When she explains to us how to write a basic essay...pauses for a few seconds then picks up with a completley different topic. Don't worry cause later on in the class she will pick up on the basic essay sentence. All in all.... you write easy papers....show up to class when need be.....And enjoy her craziness during class....She's fun and easy...!

She is incredibly nice and yes she does turn everything into a sexual comment and even though she doesnt mean it to be funny it really is. She doesnt show up for class half of the time... so if you want an easy prof take her!

She is not a waste of time. It is not her fault that she has to cancel classes sometimes, but to let you know I think her medical condition is improving. Dr. Libertin is very understanding, and wants desperately for her students to learn and do well. Please attend class, and if you're not an anal retentive person you will soon come to love going. The key to learning in her classes when a lot of non-majors and (sorry) stupider people take her is to listen closely--Libertin knows a lot about literature and she'll drop important names and works that you may want to check out outside of class. She really is a brilliant woman, I mean she's a Joyce scholar, how could she not be brilliant? Yes, it's true, she will probably give you a good grade on a paper just for trying, but when a student really does do well she lets you know--she goes wild and starts praising you. Her disorganization is inherent to her nature, and it is endearing at times because she'll try to get back on schedule and make a new syllabus, which of course will be broken later. Bottom line, she cares so much for her students, and she is not biased against males as people like to say. You'll learn a lot if you pay attention, and just taking her for a class is worth it in itself to see what she'll do next.

Dr. Libertin's college writing class was very easy and didn't require a whole lot of work. We had to do about 3 big essays and if you received a bad grade on it then you could do it over for a higher grade! If you end up taking her class remember to show up for every class because if she is in a good mood she will give about 25 extra bonus points to people who show up. The essays we did didn't require that much work and I always did them half-ass and never got anything lower than a B, and I'm a huge slacker. Take her, easy A.

Libertin is different. Yeah, when yu hear people talking about her being able to turn EVERY conversation/topic into something sexual, oh yes, this is true. Wait until you read Lysistrata! *lol* Her class overall was easy. She's huge on class participation! Writing assignments are EASY! I mean come on now, 10 points for writing a short letter/essay pretening that you were a turkey chosen for a church dinner and you have you defend yourself and state why you think you shouldn't be the one chosen? Now that's just easy...but her class is fun. You do have to write a few papers but just get them done and over with and it's cake. Libertin is an awesome prof. Although the only thing I didn't like about her class was that toward the end of the semester she slacked off on showing up for class, but I think that was due to medical reasons. Anyway, if you gt the chance to take Libertin, DO IT! She's great!

WOW....this prof could turn every story we read into something sexual. You could tell she got great enjoyment out of forcing the class into "Circle Time" and sharing our views and her own views on each story we read. Ironically, the main topic of her views were always about cocks.... It was really an entertaining class when Libertin actually decided to show up for it...(a lot of the time she just didn't show which ment no class for us!). She gives you an A just for knowing your name. Overall...she was the BEST professor I ever had!! I put absolutely NO effort into her class at all and recieved an A. Do yourself a favor and take her...soooooo easy!!!

This woman has to be the most understanding, considerate, and forgiving professor at shippensburg! Her attitude is always positive, which usually results in better grades on papers. We didn't have any tests in her College Writing class, which makes sense since it's a writing class. If there is some understandable reason for an extending a paper, she will be nice enough to extend the due date. If you are sick, she doesn't expect you to come to class. She even encourages getting your other work done for "b*tchy" professors. She's the ultimate professor for the ultimate procrastinator. Thank you Dr. Reber.

Dr. Libertin has got to be the best college writing teacher at Ship. She is so nice and is always available to help you out. She grades pretty lightly.  Dr. Libertin is a really nice person, but as a teacher very unorganized and kind of frazzled. She is super opinionated and obviously far left in thinking. Try not to disagree too much, especially if you're male. Easy grader on tests and papers. We read a couple books that weren't very good, in my opinion at least.

I took Mary Libertin's WIFYS course and I immediately regretted it at just the wrong time. On the first day, she seemed to be very nice and nervous, but that was short-lived as the following week her personality did a 180 degree spin and she gets rude. Very rude. If you have a question, you'll be asked if it's important to interrupt when you're politely raising your hand waiting to be called on. The classes themselves are honestly pointless to attend as the book offers more than enough to get a good grade, but she has a limit of 2 absences allowed per semester. If you come to class a minute late, you'll lose credit for half of the day. The most enraging incidents of these was when it was 1:58 and people were still coming in and she tried doing this. She apparently had her watch set wrong even though she initially refused to believe what the whole class was trying to tell her and had to be shown. The treatment of students in her class is unacceptable, and a few students in the same class have gone to the dean to complain just this semester. My advice is to take somebody, anybody else if you can or just wait another semester.

She does give a lot of assignments, but what english teacher doesnt? She gives like 4 to 5 papers... each kinda long like 4 to 5 pages. The last paper is 10 pages long, but the good news is that you can pick any topic you would like. She is very easy when grading your papers as long as you put your best effort into them. I worked hard in her class and I think I got the grade that I should have. Take her if you are ok with a little bit of work, but an easy class overall. She can be kinda weird sometimes lol, she will def. make you laugh, but hey it makes her class go by fast.

This woman is ridiculous. Half the time she didn't even show up for class. I'm a commuter, and she was my first class, so it really pissed me off. She didn't feel the need to send an email or anything, she just wouldn't show up. This happened at least once every two weeks. But the class is easy. You have to write 4 papers, but she grades easily as long as she agrees with you. I wrote my papers based on what she said in class, and always got good grades. Other people who wrote with a more conservative point of view didn't get such good grades. If you meet with her during office hours, she will give you an A. She definitely favors girls though. She made us move our desks into circles during class like we were in elementary school.

Ok, hear me out. I'm not intending to bash Mrs. Libertin in any way shape or form. Granted, she is one of the nicest ladies I've ever met, but you cannot deny that she absolutely sucks at teaching. If you could learn off of her, then I'd like to see your brain scan.
She went off on tangents every class. Like others have said, she doesn't notify you of a final paper until like the last two weeks of class, which we all know is an extremely stressful time in any semester. Basically, I don't think she has a clue what the hell she is doing. I am aware she has a medical condition, and I respect her disability. But at the very least you think the University would give her an assistant to help translate her teachings. Oh wait, I forgot. This is Shippensburg University.

This woman is out of her mind. It's an easy class but you'll be lost the entire time. You'll spend the whole semester worrying about your grade because she waits till the last week to give you anything back. OH and she'll also wait till the last week to tell you anything about a 10 page paper that's due by the final. Also, you never have a midterm so by the final, you're stressing because you've never had a real test from this nut job. Her office hours are a joke, you can take your papers in and fix them all you want but no matter what, half the class will get 95-100's and the other half will get 70-75's. Save your self the time, energy and MONEY, and take a real professor. I hate to see my money being wasted on this joke.

If you have any kind of sense left in you after high school, do not ever, ever, take this woman. She is horrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible. She has no idea what she is talking about, EVER. She goes back and forth like a yo-yo between topics that we have no idea what she's talking about. She assigns us random mini writing assignment but then she doesn't grade them. I have 12 points out of 92 on blackboard and all the work I've done has yet to be graded. She made us write a paper of the formalist approach to Frankenstein when SHE herself has no idea what the formalist approach is. She made us buy the book Huckleberry Finn and read it and when we came to class ready to discuss it she told us we wouldn't be talking about it because it's "racist" because it has the word N--ger in it. IT'S A LITERARY CLASS. We are supposed to be discussing literature, not worrying about being censured because there are black people in the class. [] Just please, Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Worst professor I had this semester. She always cancels class, forgets what she teaches you, and assigns stupid sh*t to do. Her class is extremely easy, but you are always confused on what to do and constantly have to remind her that she didn't assign that project or that paper yet when she says alright hand in it!!! All you do is read a bunch of short stories and take mini quizzes online, which are a piece of cake and one midterm and one final. The lady is crazy and you will not learn anything except DON'T TAKE HER AGAIN!

So, taking a Libertin class is like watching paint dry, except the paint would probably show up to class. It was obvious that class meant nothing to her, so it really meant nothing to the poor students in her class that may have actually liked literature and wanted to learn something.

This woman is so incredibly opinionated it makes me sick! If your opinion is contrary to hers she will screw you over when it comes to your final grade. She is rude, ignorant, and just plain stupid. Oh, and she also openly admits that she is bipolar, which is pretty darn obvious. If you choose to take this craphole of a professor, prepared to be offended and angered. I earned a perfect score on my final 10-page paper, and had high grades on everything else, and she still chose to give me a final grade of a B, although I definitely deserved an A, because she didn't agree with my opinions. Bottom line: only take Libertin if you're suicidal.

I had this professor before for Intro To Lit Studies and she was a breeze. She hardly came and grades were just handed out like candy. This class was definitely different. We had 1000 word essays due every 3 weeks and she ran class by the seat of her pants, it seemed. One thing that really pissed me off one day was she asked for comments on a poem we read and when I tried to take a darker interpretation, she told me that she didn't want to view this beautiful poem in such a way. She cut me off and called on someone else. I'm no English teacher, but I know that you don't restrict a student's thinking, especially after asking for reactions. Then I handed in a paper directly to her and she decided to grade it in front of me. She informed me that it was mostly "Fluff" (and it probably was) and that I should rewrite. Anyone who had her before though would know that if I handed in the paper during class (like I should've) she would've just slapped an A on it. Forget her. It wasn't long after that I dropped that class.

As an English major, this woman scares me. [] The syllabus seems decent; however she does not follow it – at all. We did one paper the entire year. One paper. And it wasn’t due when it was originally noted and it didn’t have the same requirements as when it was introduced – and you’ll get an “A” whether you work hard or just wipe your ass with a piece of paper and hand it in. You will not learn anything if you take her class. She forgets to come. When she does come there is no order. She doesn’t even seem to understand the subject she teaches. In a class as important to your education as college writing, this is unacceptable. I am most serious when I say, professor Libertin [] is a waste of both your tuition and education.

DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT take this woman for any course whatsoever. One word sums up Dr. Libertin, crazy. She has so many things wrong with her that she can't think straight. Her class is so unorganized and she never knows what she's doing. She doesn't remember what she does from the past class because she is so scatterbrained. Half the time you never know when your papers are due, because she changes the date a million times. She always skips class, yet penalizes you when you miss. She's also big on class participation, which ends up being most of your grade because if you participate she likes you and you end up with an A, if you don't you're screwed. I'm not quite sure why it should matter if you are outgoing in a WRITING course. Anyway, i highly recommend not signing up for her class, you'll regret it, i promise you.

This lady is crazy. At first you think this will be an easy class, but don't be fooled. If your a good writer and you don't mind writing 1000 meaningless papers that she'll forget about, take her. Also if you like to be confused and constantly think to yourslef " what the F*ck is she talking about " and if you enjoy have due dates changed all the time than sign up for her class. However if you are actually looking to learn something, don't take her. If you do somehow get her, never, and i mean never, go to her office. You'll only leave more confused than when you walked in. Overall, stay away if you want to keep your sanity

I have worked with a lot of bad English teachers in my High School years, one of which accused even her most gifted students of plagerism and another who was forced to resign due to misconduct. However, I have not yet met an English teacher that was worse then Mary Libertin. How did this woman get a degree, much less a teaching certification. She comes to class with no real lesson plan in mind, expecting first semester freshmen to carry the hour and fifteen minute class on their own. Her written agenda is for the most part useless by the second day of class, when she works in a paired enviroment with another professor she offers controdictory requirments, and her American Pie rip-off humor is distasteful (even for college students). She disregards her responsibilities as a college professor by missing classes, offering unclear directions, and spending most of the class talking about her own personal interests rather then educating her students and preparing them for future college writing courses. All and all, don't take this class.

The class is easy. If you don't get an A, just drop out of college now. The problem with Libertin is just that she should not teach people. Period. She misses classes all the time (sometimes for medical reasons, which I do not want to get into). She is annoying and ultra liberal. If you have a conservative bone in your body, you'll be offended by the boderline reprehensible things this woman mutters under her breath. Half the time, she's on some kind of medication and goes off on tangents. You do not learn in this class, at all. No learning. She is infuriating, and the whole time you'll be wishing just to be somewhere else. Do not take her if you have anger management problems...

I do not like this lady at all. She was a replacement for the original teacher scheduled, and it showed. Everyday, was a "fly by the seat of your pants" senario. At the beginning she did nothing but show us graphs of stuff nothing to do with Women's Lit. She is a feminist, and males were a minority in her eyes. She also makes a big deal over petty stuff. Classes were cancelled often for reasons unknown. As for tests, they are almost nonexistent in her class. There is a final, but it is tailored to the students liking. She is a semi-harsh grader as well. If you are male, take at your own risk.

She is a really nice lady. She truly wants you to do well, and loves it when you come to her office for help. If you do that, you'll know exactly what to fix and she'll hand you a grade. However, she's a scatterbrain. She's constantly changing her mind about papers and due dates, and the topics in class skip around everyday. You come to class with no idea concerning what'll take place. I'll agree with another comment that said she's a feminist--I had that impression too, but then that could be because I wrote two papers from that perspective. Most of the classes were just spent sitting in a circle and talking about the stories/poems you read. On rare days, she would actually try to teach you something... and those were the days I left with a huge headache. She's great to discuss literature with, but terrible at teaching the critical stuff. So it really depends on what you're looking for in a class/professor. Are you looking for a professor who is nice, easy and willingly to help you or do you want someone who is hard but organized. For me, I think I'll take her again someday.

I had Libertin as a Sophomore back in the dark ages and it was cake. It was the stereotypical Libertin class: not many meetings, BS in-class essays, read a bit, then poop out some 12-page mess at the end of the semester, bring it to her office, and get an A. Not so this year...it was the norm until she decided to give half the class F's on their papers and the other half A's. Some wrote according to the requirements, some didn't. Extensions were given to some, others were told no dice, but...you know...it's Libertin...so...what can you expect. Not sure what I'll be getting in the class..might be an A/B oa a C/D. She's a really, really, really nice lady and she's smart as hell, I just don't know if she should still be teaching.

Dr. Libertin is the most confusing professor at SU. She assigns you papers and then forgets about them. We had 3 papers to do and one final paper. You will get a good grade if you go to her office hours and participate in class. If you are shy I would not take her. She also does not come to class a lot.

Dr. Libertin definitely made this semester interesting. The books she picked were pretty good and the assignments were easy, but she is SO disorganized. That drove me absolutely crazy. One week we were writing our own final, the next week we weren't even having a final! She's really sweet, though, and she tries her hardest to help a person out. Also, she can be kind of vulgar and she seemed to favor the males in my class, but that didn’t really bother me.

She was neither good nor bad. We barely had class and if we did she would always get confused and let us out at least 45 minutes early. It was a fairly easy class, if you do everything your asked you should have no problem getting a good grade. Also, go to her office hours because she's really helpful, she'll tell you everything you need to fix and then when you turn in your final copy you'll notice an A. She's a nice woman too, she's just a little loopy and does weird things that freak everyone out. But if your looking for an easy college writing class where you can learn a little, and boost your GPA.. take her!!

She's definitly insane, I'll tell you that flat out. She's has the WORST case of ADD I have ever seen. And her classes will frustrate you well beyond boiling point. BUT, she cancels classes alot and she doesn't assign much. She's lost one of my papers and just gave me and A+ on it, without ever reading it. The semester is almost over and I'm pretty confident in my grade. I mean, she has to have lost her grade book by now! It'll piss you off to be in her class, but it's an easy one.

well, there are 2 ways to look at this. it was beyond a waste of time. it was soo hard to follow what she was talking about because one minute its about her driving to class then its something about a newspaper article. you just kind of sit there and look at her. but she was so easy! we had to do something like 4 essays, and only one was really imp. you really dont learn anything. but it is an easy grade. and by the end of the semester we had class once a week. just show up because she will give you 10 pts just for being there. and you always get out early. its easy but the only frusterating part is you get there, shes late and when she does show up nothing gets accopmlished because you have no idea what the hell she is talking about.
