Dr. Lucia is truly a nice lady. Her class is rather easy and she gives so many chances for extra credit that it's nearly impossible to get a bad grade in her class. At times, her class can get pretty boring and seem to drag on forever, but it can also be interesting once in a while. I'd definitely recommend taking her.

Dr Lucia is a great lady. I could really tell that she truly loved coming into work everyday. She made a class that everyone didn't want to take worth-while. Now my girlfriend rolls her eyes every time I recognize a piece from Mozart or Bach in the background to a commercial (lame, I know).

Dr. Lucia is a very nice woman. I felt like I didn't do well in that class but I came out with a B. All I did was study the music portions of the test and glance over my notes before quizzes. She is a bit unorganized but I still remember information I learned in her class, even though it was 3 semesters ago.

Professor Lucia is a very frazzled and disorganized woman. However she is extremely nice and very kind. She does try to joke a little but they are sometimes pretty dry. Anyways, her class was pretty easy because she's disorganized so half the assignments in the syllabus.. you don't have time for. The subject matter is kinda tough and boring though, but she gives you study guides and offers review sessions before exams. GO TO THEM! they really help! She sends a ton of stuff through email.. but you can always reach her through e-mail. She will almost immediately get back to you as well. She's real nice and the class was easy enough. So yeah, take her.

Professor Lucia is seriously a strange woman! She will lecture for the whole class about record cats in a rain storm. You have to go to these concerts throughout the semester and you can tell her you went to one and lost the ticket. You can also talk her into giving you any grade. Her class was really easy if you actually talk to her. Get to know her then you get a good grade!

Dr. Lucia is a bit disorganized, but don't let that scare you away. I have more OCD tendencies than the average person, and I'll admit that her scatter-brained habits grated on me occasionally, but that didn't ruin my enjoyment of the class. The tests are easy if you study--she gives you study guides. There are a few easy quizzes. The film music project was also very easy--she's a pretty easy grader. The listening is all relevant and interesting. She does take attendance every day, though, so don't take her if you're a frequent skipper. She's a very nice person--very sweet and understanding. If you turn in an assignment late, she'll probably still give you full credit for it. She's also a brilliant pianist and it was entertaining when she played many of the classic pieces herself. So, not too difficult, not too easy. A pretty good choice to fulfill that Category B gen ed requirement.

Dr. Lucia is a good teacher. She loves what she is doing and you can tell that she does. Her tests aren't that hard if you study for them. She does give you a lot of notes, but you will see them again on the tests. As long as you put some kind of effort into the class then you could pass the class.

I swear, you would have to be Satan to give this woman anything other than a positive review. Listen people, you can't give a teacher a negative review simply because you find the subject matter boring...IT'S NOT THE PROFESSOR'S FAULT! Take something else and stop whining! Dr. Lucia is pretty much as nice as a human being can get, and she's also an effective teacher. It's true you can do well in her class without ever opening the book because she covers pretty much everything in class. All you have to do is make sure you can identify the songs upon hearing. I understand that not everyone is musically inclined and this may be harder for some than for others, but trust me, even with minimal effort, it's not that hard. Yes, she does get flustered easily, and she is a bit unorganized, but honestly, how much is that going to affect you? [] Take her, she's great.

Dr. Lucia is no doubt a very strange woman. She gets very flustered very easily, in fact.. for awhile i thought she was the biggest idiot in the world. However, she is extremely nice and would do anything for her students. The class lecture is definitely boring but all you do is take notes and the tests come straight from them. I never had to look at the book once during the course and i still got an A. The Listening section is always a pain in the ass but you gotta do that in any music class. You have to attend 3 concerts and she doesnt make you do a write up on them, all you have to do is hand in a program! so it's really easy to not go and just have someone get u a program. There's one paper that is just interviewing your family and what kind of music they like, it takes about a half an hour. Attendance is required and she offers a LOT of extra credit. You get 10 points just for missing one class or less! Overall this class is extremely easy, so if you want an easy A take Dr. Lucia!

I was lost most of the time in this class - there was a lot of disorganization... but it worked. Its hard to explain. I learned a lot of great info and she is super nice and talented. I don't know what she is like for other music classes - but for this one - semi-difficult material - but gives you tons of time to read the assignments. and goes over the pertinate material in class. Maybe I was lost because the class was so laid back in atmosphere. Not too Shabby. THere are plenty way worse out there. Take your chances with her. It'll be ok.

Dr. Lucia is a very nice lady. She gives small assignments and a paper. She has quizzes on the readings and gives 5 exams. Most of the info comes right from the notes, so it's really easy. She's a little timid, and sometimes she gets flustered when something goes wrong in her presentation, but the class was great. I recommend it.

The one project in the class was a 5 minute presentation done in partners. Every presentation was completed and presented by mid-Feb. We didn't get grades back until after mini-break in April... it was OVER THREE MONTHS until we got grades. There is no excuse for such a long waiting period for ONE grade. Every exam and quiz is multiple choice and, since there is only one project, there is absolutely NO room for error on ANY exam. For me, multiple choice is not my thing and it screwed me. Lucia also plays piano during class which should enhance the class; however, she does it so much that it really breaks up the learning/concentration. She plays so much it's a distraction and is unnecessary - she really just wants to play her piano, not teach a class. Also, as an elementary ed major, her lack of classroom management (especially the grading) drives me nuts. She is a very inefficient and ineffective teacher and I wonder sometimes if she just became a professor because she couldn't do anything else with her PhD. Teaching is CLEARLY not for Lucia. If you can't tolerate the headaches in a GenEd class, don't take Into to Music with her.

How this woman got a Phd is beyond me. She is so DISORGANIZED. She is a disaster waiting to happen. Fired is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of her because that is what she should be. Many people have said she is nice, well, OK..I'd have to agree, but for $600+ per class...nice don't cut it! She gives a lot of work for a music class, she does give a good bit of extra credit too, so that does help some, but there is only so much of her a person can take. When she talks she gets flustered fairly easily then she ends up confusing everyone...not a good prof...take someone else!!!

I love music...but her class is enough to turn me away from it. Sure she does give alot of extra credit, but it doesn't make up for everything else. First, my class was at 9:30, but do you think she could be there on time? NO! She was always 5-10 minutes late, she forgot something almost everyday, she would hold class longer because she was late, she is the epitome of disorganized, and she had us do a group project which was a disaster because she was so disorganized. Sure she is a nice lady, but a horrible professor. If you're the kind of person like me who needs order, don't take her!!!

I don't know where to begin. She starts class 5-6 minutes early so if you're not there tough. She constantly hold you at least 1 to 2 minutes late each class. She crams as much information down your throat so she can quiz you on it. She once had to leave class but gave us work to do and a movie to watch while she gone. I had MORE work in her class than I did in my 400 level business courses. I swear to God she gets a kick out of making you know the book verbatim to get a good grade on her tests. The 3rd tests listening section is impossible and she laughed when we told her that. She flys through the material and you have to have professional stenographer skills to keep up. I didn't get a test back that she didn't screw up my grade. Music is life for her and she teaches this GEN ED like it were a course you would take to get a doctorate in music. Enough said.

Okay, so Dr. Lucia is a nice woman, but her class is absolutely boring! She basically just lectures the whole time by power point. She goes through the notes so fast that it is hard to keep up. I took this class my freshman year and I can tell you now that none of it stuck with me. If music just isn't your thing and if you hate long boring lectures, I would try to avoid this class. Personally, I do not feel that it enhanced me culturally at all. In fact, I think I hate music a little more now just because of this class.

Dr. Lucia is a whiz at music, but as the other comments indicate, she is very scatter-brained. She forgot about assignments, and she was technologically incapable. However, if you do the online assignments (which are weekly) and understand music at all, you should be fine. The in-class test questions were based directly off of the online readings. I had been signed up for this class by the university and came into the class with a more advanced understanding of music (played an instrument for 8+ years in advanced bands, etc.), so I might be downplaying it some, but the class itself was pretty boring. Summary: Dr. Lucia's a nice lady--although scatterbrained--and you would have to put no effort into the class to fail.

I wouldn't say her classes were either good or bad. Yes she is easy. But she is boring. She forgets what shes saying in the middle of saying it. She cant remember how to play songs and blames the piano for being out of tune. She is a very nice lady, she just bored me to tears.

Dr. Lucia is a very nice lady and someone that I really like. She's funny and tries her best to help out her students. She is more than willing to allow students to make up the work that they miss, which allows them to really take advantage of her generosity, which I find disappointing. She wants her students to succeed, and tries her best to gently push them in the right direction, but will never force anyone to do anything they don't want to. The only reasons that I would not recommend her are because she is very unorganized (I have serious OCD, so maybe I just don't understand her) and because I don't feel as if I learned as much as I hoped from the class. Most of the semester was spent focusing on music from 1100-1700, and we really glossed over anything later than that, especially music in the last century. It was practically ignored, which I found disappointing because that part of musical history is really important. I like Dr. Lucia, but she needs to plan for her classes a little more, ensure she has enough time to cover everything, and stop letting her students walk all over her.

Dr. Lucia is a very nice woman and she definitely knows her stuff. However, she is very, very, very unorganized and for someone with extreme OCD, that's not an admirable quality. I mean, I was highly involved in my school's music program for 6 years and now and then, I instruct my high school marching band and give music lessons. And let me tell you, Dr. Lucia's manner of teaching is not one that will make a novice musician catch on quickly. She flies over the basics and crashes straight on to the more complicated parts of music. You cannot build a house without lying the foundation! Also, this is an INTRO music course. This is a class in which one would expect to find introductory level terms and examples, not Vivaldi's 4 Seasons. She is a nice woman and very intelligent, but the classes, powerpoints, papers, and exams are so unorganized that it makes it difficult for even a seasoned musician to keep up. Also, she takes the hardest route when it comes to explaining the simplest concepts and this class, which I anticipated would be very enjoyable, has become dreadful.

Okay, Dr. Lucia is the sweetest woman you'll ever meet, but she is the most frustrating professor I've ever had. She is COMPLETELY unorganized and frequently has no idea what's going on in her own class. She does her very best to make sure everyone does as well as they possibly can, and she's always available for help, but going to class is just useless. She talks very fast and kind of quiet, and typically trails off at the end of her sentences so you really have no clue what's happening, and she tries to cram in 2 days worth of material into one class period. If you're a patient person, then you'll be fine with her, but I don't recommend taking her if you're easily frustrated, because she will drive you crazy after the first day.

Dr. Lucia is indeed a very nice woman. She wants her students to succeed and will work with them as much as she can. I was not too familiar with the piano when I was in her class so I found it quite difficult, but Dr. Lucia did everything she could to help me succeed. She was a little unorganized at times though. Homework was assigned, but she rarely checked if we had it done. She also seemed lost sometimes when she was running the classroom. Overall, she's a nice lady and not too bad to have for a professor.
