Dr. Madey is a fantastic professor! This is the first Psych class I've taken here at Ship, and having him as a prof really made me want to stay here with my major. His class is not hard at all. You usually go over powerpoints in class, which are also posted online. You have 4 exams, 4 papers, and a research project. His tests are super easy. Just look over the notes once or twice and you should be fine!

Dr. Madey is awesome! He is so sweet and seems know what he's talking about. He's like one of those cute older guys who's always cracking jokes and no one laughs but you always crack a smile. Really easy class. Hardly have to read, 30 questions tests, few assignments here and there. Definitely recommend.

He's a really good teacher and his tests are not that hard. They are only 30 questions and you have either 4-5 of them... He gives out a lot of papers but they are not difficult at all you can easily b.s. your way through them. He offers a lot of extra credit. Overall really nice guy and I loved the class.

Good class to take if you're looking for an "A". Don't take it if you are looking to learn a lot of in-depth information. Tests are easy and the final is just like the tests. There are a couple thought papers due but those are easy as well. Minimal work outside of class. Take him. He is interesting and the class is easy.

Dr. Madey was a great prof. He made psych easy to understand and easy to get an A in. He gave us a handful of exams, only 25 multiple choice questions that were easy. Our final was the same only covering the last 2 or 3 chapters. He is a great guy and easy to understand!

Dr. Madey is a very nice man who knows how to make class enjoyable for his students. He doesn't give exams to his upper level classes. Instead, he prefers assigning somewhat lengthy papers that he grades very easily. Some may be be intimidated by the thought of so much writing, but trust me, the material is simplistic and you will learn a great deal. Being a part of his class actually made me want to live a healthier life.

This class was not very difficult at all. We had to write three papers based on a choice of subjects given to us by Dr. Madey that related to multicultural aspects of health. We also had to turn in progress notes for each class based on the previous class discussions, and we had to read information that was provided through electronic reserves that would facilitate our learning of mulitcultural issues. Overall, this class was a good experience, and Dr. Madey is an excellent teacher! Thanks for a great semester Dr. M. : )

Dr Madey is so sweet! He illustrates his points really well using examples from real life, not just from the textbook. He's not tough about attendance and whatever problems you have you can just go to his office for and he'll help you. You have to do a short paper (thought question) to be handed in for every test but they're not hard. He's a good guy- I definitely recommend him.

This class with Dr. Madey was very informative. We had to do five papers, and as a group: a research proposal, conduct the research, do a poster in APA format for it, and then do two write ups on any two posters that were done by another group. Dr. Madey made those assignments easier to do by giving us step by step instructions, and then meeting with us to make sure we all knew what he expected (A most excellent way to teach!). This class was more work than most of my other classes due to the papers required, but it was well worth it! I would recommend this class with this prof., so take this class if you can, you won't regret it! Thanks for a great semester Dr. Madey! : )

Dr. Madey had the first class I ever took where we took no tests at all. We would read the e-chapters (No Book!!!) and write a few responses and then find some sources and comment on them and that was it. It actually was an effective way of teaching. He was very quick to respond to questions (internet course) and I was actually able to go on vacation for a week while in the class. Take if available.

Dr. Madey is such a great prof--he made my 8 am class so interesting. Here I thought, "8 am! No way I'll stay awake through that!" But no, he made the class worth getting up for. His classes is very interesting--he likes to demonstrate things and get the class involved. The only grades in the class are 5 exams, all 25 multiple choice questions, and 6 "Thought Questions" which are 2-3 pages papers with some relevance to what we studied in class, but a lot of it is opinion. This class is very interesting, and Dr. Madey made it that much more fascinating. He's got to be one of the greatest prof's at Ship!

Prof. Madey is the best professor I have had on campus. You really learn a lot, you take some notes, but he writes most on the board and you get a lot of handouts that are useful. The tests are easy 25 multiple choice, however you should read the text, some questions come from there. You have to write 6 papers, but they're easy. The papers are really just your views and thoughts on the subject. PLEASE TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took Dr. Madey's 3 week Social Psych of Aging class online last summer and totally enjoyed it. He was one of the nicest profs I've ever had. He not only was interested in his subject material, but he showed a true interest in our lives. He had questions to answer for each chapter which weren't too hard and he was very helpful when it came to any questions or concerns you might have had. I learned a lot from the class, and I plan on taking him again when I can.

Dr. Madey is a rarity. Most of the time you have to choose between an easy professor or a professor that you will actually learn something from. Madey is both. His class is about the easiest you will ever take and you will actually learn what he's teaching. The easiest A I can remember of ever getting. He really is one of the best professors on this campus. He is a nice guy and is always looking to help the class any way he can. Definitely take him for General Psychology if you can.

This guy is ABSOLUTELY amazing. I don't care if the only class he's teaching is at 8AM.. TAKE HIM. you are ridiculous if you don't. Attendance is not required and will not effect your grade in any way. He keeps all the handouts he gives out in the front so if you miss class for a week you can just show up once in while and get everything you need. His lectures are very interesting and he puts EVERYTHING you need to know on the board.. which is only like a page at the most per class. His tests are a joke.. I would compare them to tests I might have had in 6th grade.. seriously. I studied on average for about 20 minutes for each test and I only missed 4 total points the entire semester. Not to mention, for those of you who are mentally challenged and don't receive an A.. he gives about 20 points if not more of extra credit opportunities.. which consists of filling out a one page survey. I think I figured out that I didn't even need to take the final and I still could have gotten an A. Also, there are about 6 "thought questions" that you need to respond to in a paper format. They take about a half an hour.. and you could probably write a paragraph that has nothing to do with the question and he'd still give you a B. He is the nicest, funniest prof. I've ever had.. you are an idiot if you dont take him.

This prof does not require attendance, but if you got to the class you will actually learn something. He explains things, does not just lecture, but gives examples. He's an extremely nice guy. There's no BS on exams, its exactly what you learned, and they are multiple choice and can be completed in 15 min. He often lets class out early. You will have to write 6 "papers" but you are pretty much just writing about what you think which is easy to do. If you get anything less than an A in this class, then you must have some problems...

All I have to say is Madey understands that if you sleep in class it's not that he's boring, it's that our young under-developed minds are over-exhausted, so he doesn't get offended. I don't think he realizes how right he is. However, he does enough interesting stuff in class that most the time you're awake even if you are horribly tired. He's really nice, grades easy, and if you don't do well on the tests then you're a moron, because it's all common sense.

This prof.'s lack of organization on topics was mind boggling. I hated coming to his class because of that, and he seemed so distracted all of the time, and got off topic a lot. When students asked about things that were unclear he got upset and treated them like they were stupid. I don't know what happened but he seems so much different compared to all of the positive comments posted from last semester. Maybe it's just because the course is newer? If you want an easy class with only three papers due, and progress notes to write that had to be handed in the next class meeting, I would take this class. But, if you don't want to be bored out of your mind stay away from this class with this prof.

This class was a joke! Basically you learn nothing but typing skills in this class because that's all you do is research and type papers. Just about every week a 10-12 pg paper is due but they aren't hard at all. Read whatever he tells you n find a quick reference online and type just about anything n your done. he gives almost perfect scores on everything. There is also a project which is also a piece of cake. your group picks a topic n he gives you everything u need to get an A. This is by far the easiest class i've ever taken... no work at all really n a boost on the gpa.
