He was a really nice guy that was fun to talk to and easy to learn from. The class was great and his tests are not difficult. I would take him again.

The class was a bit hard. But his passion and conviction in teaching it makes up for it and helps draw you into it too. Attendance isn't mandatory but I highly recommend it, because most of the tests are based on the slide shows which are ONLY covered in class, since there's no real textbook. That's what brought my grade down. Make sure to take good notes, because sometimes he trails off a bit, and you need to make sure you have the essentials down. But in addition, try to absorb some of the class by just listening to him. It's a good class but it can be a bit boring after awhile. Nevertheless, I'd highly recommend it.

I'll be honest walking into the class I was skeptical. I've never been really good at science and having trouble grasping things when it comes to the environment. Professor Maret really explains the problems well and explains it in a way that pertains to you personally. His tests are kind of hard, but only if you don't write down extensive notes, not just the two or three words he writes on the board. Yeah there is no textbook but who cares, if you go to class and take notes you'll be fine. The only reason I got a C was because I never did the assignments, which were so easy. The only reason not to take this class is if you don't want to be informed about some of the serious issues facing the planet environmentally.

The class is very interesting. I learned a lot about the world I'm living in. This class is rated way too hard. He doesn't cover a lot of material in class. He covers the important and interesting information and moves on. The tests are not hard either. I didn't have to study much and got A's easily. Also there aren't any big projects and the homework is easy too. He is a very approachable and interesting teacher. You will enjoy this class.

Dr.Maret is one of the best bio professors I've ever had. His classes arent that easy but he makes them interesting. He's a really nice guy once you get to know him. He may come across a little overwhelming at first but he's a good guy! He's all about doing stuff on excel so if you dont like excel dont take him. Otherwise take him he's awesome and you'll learn alot!!

he is a decent teacher overall. he is really into what he teaches, and knows a lot about it. his tests are very tricky, so you cant BS on them, but they are multiple choice. i probably would have done better if i didnt have it at 8am. do all the work and you will do decent. skipping his easy assignments will mess you up in the long run. but id say take him, its a decent class.

I really didnt like his class. Lectures are extremely boring and the exams are semi-hard. His grading style was unpredictable, and labs got really boring. Lab reports were a real pain. He tries to be funny, but it fails. He isnt funny. I would say take someone else, but if you are reading this, you see nobody else is available so, get coffee and good luck. p.s. get rubber boots, cause your walkin in streams.

Dr. Maret is a pretty good teacher, but the class is very hard and you have to write a CRAPLOAD of papers for this class. This class was a big reason I had no life this semester. I'd say he rates just as OK. Unless you are really interested in ecology, I would definitely pick something else as an elective.

Take another Prof. if you can. Maret's an awesome guy but his tests are hard as hell & the study guides are sh*t... Considering we didnt get a book there was way to much info. on the tests for what we could study. As hard as it was I managed to go to every class, did all the assignments (which take way more time for what they're worth) & STILL ended up w. a C, take him if you want he's cool but he doesnt curve & considering the time you put into his class, it's BS.

Dr. Maret is a very smart man, but its kinda tough to learn with no textbook and a thousand usless facts.. which end up being on the test. His tests are hard because 2 answers out of the multiple choice were almost the same, so most of the time you had to guess. The only thing that kept me alive in that class was the homework and project. Good guy to talk to, just hard test! good luck
