At first I was like most of you people, I though he was boring and the material was boring and yatta yatta. But I decided to pay attention to the guy. He throws in subtle jokes and makes the class very interesting if you participate. I actually enjoyed his class. Our discussions of Newsweek were my favorite. He is very fond of saying "If you will" or "In a sense" I got a kick out of that.

Dr. Mayer was a good professor. I had him in a night class, for 3 hours...and although the classes got long sometimes, he kept it interesting. He gave 4 tests, about 80 to 100 questions each. I never studied for his class, and I aced all of the tests. He's very helpful, as well...always willing to help out when he can. I'm definitely going to take him again.

Dr. Mayer may be a little long winded and boring at times but he definitely knows his stuff...As long as you read, go to class on a regular basis and take some notes, you'll do fine. His tests are all multiple choice and come straight from his lectures. He'll go back over stuff if u ask him to and is always willing to take time outside of class..

He's not as bad as everyone says. But he can lose you at times when he starts to drone on... Still, he's very knowledgable at his subject, and gets that knowledge across as long as you're willing to listen. In International politics, we had to write one paper and take a few tests, and that's it. If you study the notes and pay attention long enough to take them, you will do fine.

This class was awful!! Dr. Mayer lectures for the full hour and fifteen minutes on politics...and makes you take notes from his oral lecture, without overhead or anything. There are four exams. Each exam covered at least 4-5 chapters, maybe 6!! And each chapter is jammed full of information! And the tests are HARD!! Don't take the class. The prof is nice, but if you don't like or know politics, don't take him.

Dr. Mayer has to be the WORST professor I have ever had. Considering I am only a sophomore, but in my whole life, I don't think I've ever met someone so contradicting, unreliable, unreasonable, difficult, and annoying. This man should not be a professor. I do not see how anyone could have gotten a good grade in this class. It was awful!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!

I can't believe this guy is allowed to teach. He is horrible. He is boring and nothing from his lectures are on his tests. He says that he goes over stuff but he never does. You would think his is Mr. Makey from South Park the way he is always saying mmkay and in a sense and think outside the realm. The only thing i learned from this guy is that nation states were developed in 1648, but don't worry that wasn't on any of his tests. He talks in a monitone voice and talks for the entire class about nothing. No one did well on his tests and the only good thing i have to say about him is at least he grades papers well, but you only have one of those. He is almost impossible to get ahold of because he doesn't have an email address and will only accept phone calls, but even then you are dealing with his secretary! Secretary, why does he need a secretary? oh that's right becuase he doesn't do his job! [] Stay away, take Dr. Botteron instead!

I would never take Mayer again unless I absolutely had to. Yes he knows what he is talking about, but is it really worth being bored the whole time trying to stay awake? I was more awake in my 8 AM class! If you take him good luck keeping yourself occupied and awake... I haven't failed any of his exams, but I haven't been using notes from him(mostly because I zone out in class) I have been using the book. So do not take him unless you love trying to interpret the book because you fell asleep or spaced out when he explained stuff in class

He is a nice guy but his accent is frustrating to listen to and he doesn't really seem to answer any of your questions, he walks away. If you stay after class to ask questions, you have to follow him, while talking, to the prof. parking lot! His grad assistant is hot though, thats the positive thing about his class. There are 3 tests, then the final. There's a huge paper that you have to do that covers a current event, that wasn't fun. He takes the class way too seriously for a gen ed. Take some No-Doze before you go to class.

This poor guy tries. He's just really boring. I didn't think the tests were hard cause i did the readings, but i wouldn't recommend missing this class regularly. If you miss alot of classes, try to answer some of his boring questions. A horrible class. I wouldn't recommend him.

Dr. Mayer knows his stuff...no question about it! I struggled with which "type" of comment I wanted to leave...while I mentioned he knows his subject field, he also has no clue on how to take the dullness out of it! B-O-R-I-N-G! If I had one of his lectures on tape... I could kiss my insomnia goodbye. Seriously! If it weren't for the mundane nature of his teaching I would have scored him in the positive side. He's a nice guy and his workload for the class wasn't too bad. The tests were all multiple choice, but fairly difficult- read the book and visit the book website if you want to get an A...I didn't until it was too late! (B) but I'm cool with it! One paper-7-8 pages which was easy. All-in-all...if you are the type of person that likes boring lectures then you'll love Mayer! If not...well, he knows his stuff-if thats enough for you then by all means go for it. If not...look elsewhere. Cheers~

Mayer definitely is not the best prof. I've had but he definitely isn't the worst either. His lectures are really long and boring and nobody participates because he talks most of the time. If you can stand long lectures I'd take him, he has simple tests and only one paper which is easy.

I hate government classes, but this wasn't too bad, after the first test. Yes, the way he enunciates words is annoying and he always says "in a sense" and things of that nature, but overall isn't too bad. Tests are all multiple choice, and doing the online quizzes really helps, because the exact same questions appear on the exams. There is never any homework, unless you love reading about 20 pages per chapter, and the project isn't too bad. Overall, he isn't too bad, but I doubt I'd take him again.
