No point in going to class. His tests are straight from the study guide questions he posts online. I went to class anyway because I enjoyed his dry humor and random tangents. Later in the semester he doesn't give you the answers to the study guide questions but I just split up the work between 2 or 3 kids in the class and shared answers. The annoying part is that your grade is based on tests only and he has like 5 of them, so you cant really let the class sit to the side because every other week you're getting ready for a test.

Professor Mehiel is def. the one professor I would recommed for psychology. He has a sarcastic sense of humor and he tells crazy jokes and he's just a really nice guy. He doesn't make things too serious, you can provide input on anything you want, he's open to random discussion. The tests really aren't that hard. If you actually fill out your study guide, the questions come directly from there so make sure you ask him if you aren't sure and you'll pass. Def. take mehiel... he's awesome.

Dr. Mehiel has been one of the most interesting professors I have had. He's extremely sarcastic and keeps class interesting. If you pay attention, take notes, and actually review the study guide he gives you, then you should have no problem earning an a or b in the class. Plus, he goes over the study guides most of the time and gives you every answer for the test. I would def. take him again if I could.

Dr. Mehiel is a great professor who is wonderful at giving lectures that keep students awake even at 8:00 a.m. He gives effective study guides and forms all of the questions from them. His format is short answer but you only have to give brief answers and still succeed. He also gives six exams and curves when the need arises. There are no surprises or papers. You need to take this man.

If you want to breeze through general pysch then this is the professor to take, his tests are at MOST 9 questions, 9!!! Im not kidding either. Just make sure you get every question on the review sheet answered and study it and youre set. I could have went once a week and passed with an easy A. Just make sure youre there the day before a test to receive the study guide and day of test. Its THAT simple.

Dr. Mehiel is the best prof ever! His class is never boring, and is actually enjoyable. Before each test he hands out a study guide with all the test questions on it. He couldn't make it any easier. If you fail his class you may as well give up on college, 'cause it doesn't get any easier than this! Take him - you won't regret it.

Dr. Mehiel is a very personable and sweet prof! I loved coming to his class because he has a great sense of humor, and he had a way of presenting the material that made it understandable by using good examples. There are three exams that are all essay/short answer, and he gives a study guide for them which we went over before the exams, and he gave us the chance to ask questions on anything that was unclear. He also offered a chance for extra credit in the form of doing a presentation in front of the class on an article that he has to approve (not too bad to do and he gives up to 10 pts extra for it!) Take him if you can, you won't regret it. Thanks for a great semester! You ROCK Dr. M! :)

.........not because he's easy; but because he's compassionate and funny and is willing to help. Plus he has twinkly eyes and makes us smile. He's had a bad year and has still managed to be there for his students. What more could you ask for? Take him.

His class was just the way I like it... attendence not required and just three tests, straight up. It didn't hurt that his tests were insanely easy, that he gave out study guides with all the questions from the test on it beforehand, and also answered basically every question for you. Despite this, I feel like I learned a lot from him. He was interesting, knew what he was talking about, and despite the attendence policy, I showed up to all but one 8 AM class because the subject matter (my least favorite part of psych) was difficult enough that I wanted to be there and have it explained by him. I plan on taking him for RDSII next semester, which I've been putting off.

Dr. Mehiel is a warm and wonderful professor with the difficult job of teaching stats to students who will mostly never use it again. He'll be happy to work with you if you work with him. But, you gotta ask!

Dr. Mehiel is the man. If you don't take his classes you are a damn fool. His tests are take home, he gives you step by step help notes AND he gives extra credit. If you aren't good at stats he will help you. He keeps class interesting by using funny examples. He's the best prof I've had at Ship so far. HES THE BEST!!!

The class was somewhat challenging - it's important that you go and take good notes, but he gives lots of hand outs that help. There were 6 take home tests (even the final was take home) and he drops your lowest grade.

Ron is the best prof both in and out of class. He is supportive of you and your needs. He will help you in any way he can, but you gotta ask, he is not a mind reader. He goes easy on the students and loves to joke around and have a good time.

Hes a good guy and trys to make the class fun though it is pretty boring. You have open note, open book tests. And homework that you can copy out of the book that is worth a test grade so thats an easy 100 b/c i dont think he even checks it.

If you actually want to learn something, do yourself a favor and stay away. Yeah, you do always get out of class early and he is a nice easy going guy, and it is very easy to get an A, but if you ever plan on doing research, going to grad school or taking upper level classes, you will regret it. When I took Neuroscience, I had to do a research paper and didn't know how. Dr. Hale was upset that I didn't know how to do the statistics after I had completed 2 classes and received an A in them. I feel like I missed out on what I should know for my future because Mehiels class was such a complete joke. He's also creepy, don't get to close to him if you are a female, seriously.

It's nothing personal against him but I just hated this class. I had to take intro to statistics the semester before this class and it made this class look like an absolute joke. I had him at 8am and he was never prepared sometimes he gave us faulty examples which he had to fix the next class. One class we spent pretty much the whole time learning about mean...seriously? I'm not in 6th grade anymore, or am I? So it's not that the class is hard it's just pointless.

I just got the overwhelming impression that he was bored to tears teaching a General Psych class. The lectures were boring but ok I guess. And he "tries" to be funny...I think Dr. Mehiel is an ok person and I will say that I have friends that took his Res & Dev. class and loved it...BUT I feel that he approached our General Psych class like it was more a pain in HIS ass than anything else...kinda like "I'm the department chair...why'd I get stuck with this?" At least that's how I saw it. We had 6 or 7 tests and he gives a study guide for every section that the tests cover...there was one problem-a lot of it wasn't in the book and some of the stuff that wasn't in the book he forgot to go over in class, but he had it on the tests anyway...I think he just forgot to go over it??? I remember sending him an email asking him what something was and he was all crass and assanine about it and swore it was in the book...like I was lazy or something? I checked the book several times and never saw a blooming thing about it though...so make sure to ask your questions in class! Overall, I would have rather never taken the class...the lack of passion and interest made it a real bummer. If you need General Psych...take a different professor!

Dr. Mehiel is a really nice guy but I think that he has smoked too much in his lifetime and now his brain is feeling the effects. His test are take home so it gives you plenty of time. I went to him for help and he is sometimes helpful but sometimes just repeats questions back at you. I have also been to the learning center and had a statistics tutor help me but they took one look at my test and said they have never seen the material before. I think he means well but just isn't helpful in learning. yeah I passed the class but I haven't learned much.

This prof was really hard at the beginning of the semester but lightened up at the end. He is semi hard, but he doesn't take attendance, and there are only 3 exams the entire semester. He is the type of professor that allows time for work and time to goof off. I would recommend him if you don't mind a boring class because all he does is lecture... he uses no technology at all!!!

Well he is a very nice man but his tests are a b*tch.... the class average was like a 60 on the last one... he gives you study guides for each chapter that are soo long and he asks you like 5 short answer questions off of the study guides on the exam. Ask questions on review day thats all I have to say!

If you don't ask questions, he expects that you know what your doing. If you do need to ask questions, then do it, and he'll help you, but he will stop the class to help you. He has tests (3), and chapter homework , which is a pain. You are forced to learn this stuff, and if you get lost then you will not do well, unless you ask him for the help. He is a good teacher if you feel comfortable in the class.
