Dr. Bao has been one of my favorite professors throughout my college career. She is one of the most intelligent people I've ever met. I learned more in this class (Research) than any other class this semester. She lays everything out, even difficult topics, so that they are very easy to understand. I believe that some people in my class had trouble understanding her, as she does have a bit of an accent, but I didn't have any issues. She makes herself VERY available for help. She gives you her cell phone number, house number, office number, email address, etc., and encourages you to call her anytime about any questions. You DO have to work hard in this class. She expects good attendance, class participation, and a thoughtful, logical research proposal at the end of the class. I worked very hard for my "A" in this class... so don't take her if you're not willing to work for it. However, if you're ready to try... you'll learn SO much!

Dr. Bao's accent takes a little getting used to, but her class is great. She encourages discussion, so we got off topic a lot. I learned more from the discussion than I did from the book. Take her!!

Subject: Three hours of stories about your son?  (Jan 12 2011, 08:09PM)

If you do take Dr.Bao, DO NOT TAKE THE NIGHT CLASS. Three hours of listening to her talk about her son, do bullsh*t group projects and watch videos. Her accent makes her difficult to understand and her voice makes you want to fall asleep. The on-line reviews for the exam were anywhere from 30-100+ definitions, of which she only puts 4-10 on the exam!!! I feel like I wasted so much time with this class. If you study for the few exams there are and do a kick-ass class presentation, you'll have no problem getting a B.

Subject: Boring and didn't learn anything  (Jan 19 2010, 11:35AM)

I had Dr. Bao for Ed Psych. She posted the power point slides for lecture on blackboard and in class read directly from the powerpoints which was pointless. We had to take online quizzes from the books website and could take them as many times as we wanted until we passed. Then her exams were 10 mult choice 5 definitions and one essay but we had to study over 100 mult choice close to 500 definitions. I honestly don't think I learned anything from her because the majority of the things we discussed in class I had already learned in American School. We had to write a lesson plan at the end of the semester and were given no guidance on how to write it or what was expected. The first person that presented was told that she should have discussed different points but we were never told what to talk about so it was very unfair. Attendance is required and you lose two percent for every class you miss. Class is only out of 100 points. WASTE OF TIME

The research class is required. Dr. Bao is the only prof that teaches this class that requires the 30 page paper and taking quizzes. The quizzes are ridiculous! You have to spit back out answers and then she gives you a paper written by someone else and you have to dissect it! It was truly miserable. While other students taking this class have the opportunity to write the paper in small chunks and get it checked Dr. Bao gives it to you to do all at once. It was crazy...if you don't do well on the quizzes it is impossible to get an A. My advice would be to pick another professor that is willing to work with you. I just felt that my time would be better spent writing the paper instead of studying for the quizzes...waste of time.
