Dr. Patt is a great guy and funny. His exams are hard, but he gives yo. Plenty of extra credit that you must do to pass. The paper you have to do you really should start early or else you are screwed. Go to class, study and try.

Ok this class is very hard, tests are hard, the material is hard... it's all hard. Do not miss any exams, or you will pay dearly with your grade. But Dr. Patterson is a cool, fun guy... the class itself just sucks, not him. When you take it and you must (criminal justice major/minor it's required) just read your book and Study x3. And you should pass not take it twice like I had to.

Patterson's method of teaching goes beyond memorizing terms and focuses on a main understanding of concepts having to do with the police department, management, history and etc. He has a lot of practical work experience as well which makes his classes entertaining. He's also easy to get along with and generally a nice guy all around. All you have to do in his class is show up and study.

Dr Patterson is a good guy. His classes are difficult, due mostly to the subject matter which tends to be hard to grasp for some but his "methods" (no pun intended) are effective. If you take his class DO NOT SKIP. VERY difficult to catch up on missed material and never has a day where something crucial to your overall success in the class is not discussed.

Professor Patterson was a great professor. He was a very effective professor. What I like most about him was that he was always willing to help as much as possible. His class isn't easy but if you just review the material you will do fine. His tests and quizzes were straight forward... mainly short definitions and answers, and examples. I kept an A/B average throughout the course. The assignments (take home) were fun and easy. The only thing that stopped me from getting an A was the Final. I thought that the final was pretty challenging, especially because I have testing anxiety... But if you do good all year, it should not affect you that much. You'll learn in his class!!!

Patterson is a very difficult professor, but college is supposed to be challenging. He provides defintions along with PLENTY of examples. He really works with his students to help them understand. He is a very nice person as well and treats all his students equally. He is tough, but you will remember most of the stuff he taught.

Dr. Patterson can be monotonous and dry, but his lectures give you everything you need for the tests and quizzes. He gives general examples and then criminal justice examples to help you understand the material. I swear half of my notes were examples that he gave us along with examples he had the class do for practice. Having him for Theories definitely helped me understand the material better than I would have had I taken a different professor. You get 3 points for going to his office and looking over your test, and he is more than willing to explain anything that you need clarification on. Showing up to class is a must, reading the book is not.

He's a good guy and you have to be at class to get his notes. His class is a bit boring but he will work with you if you need it.. The class is pretty tough but if you put the work in you will get a good grade. Tests are mainly like 40mc and 10 short answer. He also gives quizes which are worth 10pts and consist of either 2 5pt short essays, or 5 2pt short answer q's.

Dr. P is a person who cares about his job. He expects you to work but he is willing to work with you. He give good examples and is very thorough in what he is trying to get across. If you really want to walk away and have an understanding of the subject take him!

Dr. Patteron is the most thorough professor on this campus. He really cares and wants to make sure that his students understand the material he teaches. He knows the material he teaches like the back of his hand. Tests are not bad about 50 ?'s with some short answer and quizzes are short answer but not hard. GREAT PROFESSOR!!! wish they were all like him.

Yeah, its a bit boring at times, but Patterson is a good prof. with an ability to communicate. Tests are pretty easy, but there is alot of info. that you'll study that won't be on the exams. 3 tests in all M/C and essay, usually 50 ?s, some quizzes, and a cumulative final.

Dr. Patterson is the best professor in the criminal justice department. His classes are to the point and he puts everything on the board for you. If you go to his class most of the time there is no way you can fail it. He is a great guy to talk to and curves all of the tests. A+

I am a second semester senior, and I think I can honestly say that Patterson is the worst prof I ever had. He scribbles handwritten notes on the board, no powerpoints. He gives quizzes that ask for vague answers, then gives you a low grade if you didn't write exactly what he thought the answer should have been. I usually get A's and B's and I struggled to get the "C" required by the dept. You can study as much as you want and you'll still struggle to pass. He is a nice person, but a terrible teacher.

He says, "this stuff is so common-sensical" so much it makes me want to puke. If it is common sense then why is he teaching it to us? And he says "mmmmkay" just like Mr. Garrison, so thats really annoying too! He is a nice guy though, and seems much quieter when you go see him in his office as compared to when you are in class with him. Tests are hard, despite being multiple choice and short answer. I wish Bricker would've taught this class this semester!
