I don't know what the hell the other commenters are talking about- she was an AMAZING professor! Yeah, she understood that our lives didn't revolve around her class- but I've learned the most in her class that I've learned yet! She doesn't grade any harder than any other prof you have, and she ALWAYS provides reasons IF she deducts points from your grades. I HIGHLY recommend taking her!

She does expect you to do your work but if for some reason you are unable to complete your hours in time, e-mail her like I did and get an extension! A few times in the semester she will take you to starbucks for a cup of coffee and talk the whole class, sometimes we didnt even get through material. She has a lot of stories that are very interesting and is not afraid to talk about her life and first hand experiences. I would recommend her class for anyone because she is a great teacher who has a lot to offer.

Dr. Pettit is the best professor on this campus. She is always available whenever anyone has any questions. She is smarter than anyone else that takes her class and has achieved more than 97 percent more in her life than you ever will. For all the people that put negative comments on here I am sorry that your parents didn't hug you enough.

I was reading over Dr. Pettit's ratings and thought some of them were somewhat harsh. Dr. Pettit must have changed her teaching style since some of these comments were posted because I learned a good bit from her class and was only there a few times. I was going through some personal/family issues and Dr. Pettit made it possible for me to finish the course. She was more than understanding and more than willing to work with me so that I wouldn't have to drop the class. If it wouldn't have been for her influence, I don't think I would've came back to Ship for another semester. Some of my profs were not understanding at all, but Dr. Pettit was absolutely wonderful. Even though I missed most of her class throughout the semester, I still learned a lot from the course. Thanks Dr. Pettit for being such a wonderful person and prof!

Pettit's class is extremely easy but I really didn't learn much. Everyday she seems to be unprepared and ends up doing something completely off topic. The quizzes are so easy that you can get 20/20 without reading the book. I would take her again!

Ok, so heres the deal. Shes a great lady. Shes the nicest person to get along with and truly understands students. Her class is def. very easy. Everyone gets an A and everything is basically online. the only problem with this was that it was very easy to not want to do the work and for me to skim through the book and do the work that way and learn just about nothing. this is a class for my major so i feel like since i learned nothing, i need to take it again. And yes, she is very unorganized but she always finds something else to do when she isnt prepared. Take her for an A and to learn some things, but not much.

I learned so much in Dr. Pettit's class. I don't even know where to start to say, TAKE HER!! Her stories are relevant and when she rambles you want to listen. She's always trying ways to make it more interesting. All tests are online and you can use all your notes and take them whenever you want and she gives an awesome! study guide. Observations are cake-work and as long as it sounds like you did them and your spell things right, you get a 10/10. She is always around and responds to emails within hours... Take her. You'll learn a lot and you'll enjoy it. I had it at 8am and I actually went!! (She doesn't take attendance though!!)

She made class very interesting by mixing up her teaching. You learn through a variety of methods like video, groups and some lecture. She makes class as interesting as possible and tries to accomodate everyone's learning styles. She is a wonderful prof and shoud be given an A+ rating!

I really enjoyed Dr. Pettit's classes. She would tell true stories that made the class more interesting and easier to understand. Her observation were not boring and as long as you did them and checked spelling and grammar you did well.

Dr. Pettit's class is so much fun. She gives real life examples so it's almost impossible to forget the information. Her observation's are an easy grade as long as you take the time to check your spelling. She actually made me consider minoring in early childhood.

Let me just start off by saying how much this class sucked. She never taught you anything, you take these pointless online quizzes every week, she talks about her children more than anything. You basically have to teach yourself in this class. It is also impossible to get any observations right, you are bound to either get a low b or below. She expects way too much with observing.. and if she knows the child she will write all over your paper saying NO! this girl is wonderful!.. and she pretty much makes you feel like you are a failure. Please for your own good, take another professor, she is absolutely horrible and I have learned nothing from her.

This was the worst class I have EVER taken at Shippensburg...EVER. She changed the syllabus, never showed up, took off points for ridiculous things and rarely taught anything. She talked about her personal life more than anything else. She gave quizzes on things we HADN'T talked about, and was such a push over we rarely had to do ANY learning. She took us to Starbucks at least once a week and canceled the other classes...she is a JOKE!

Absolutely the worst professor I've ever had in college. She is the most unprofessional, unorganized person. She doesn't believe in setting standards in her class, it's just "oh, we're doing this project" and expecting you to read her mind on what she wants. She shows up to each class with no plan and spends the entire time using it as her own personal therapy session. It was a complete waste of my time: the workload is NOT a piece of cake and the quizzes are pulled out of you-know-where. All in all you might get an A, but I've never been more frustrated (nor have my classmates) in any course I've ever taken...she's a total joke. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Unfortunately you don't really have many options.

I didn't like Petit's class at all. If you want an easy grade TAKE HER. I usually have to work really hard to get okay grades and with her I did nothing and passed easily. She gives online quizes that you take by yourself each week. They get annoying but you do get to use your book. I really hated taking them every week though. Her classes are usually pretty boring. I LEARNED NOTHING from her class.

Wow. Is about all I can say. Her classes were pointless, the online quizzes were stupid and I dont think she knows what she's doing. We sit and watch her talk about nothing, randomly do things to take up the time. Ive learned not one thing in this class. She never responds to your emails within a week. Her grading is messed up. You never know what you'll get. You think you did well, but you'll get a B. Horrible horrible teacher that should really quit

Dr. Pettit was probably the worst prof i had last semester. She grades so hard- getting a 10 out of 10 on an observation is pulling teeth. Youd be lucky to get a 9. she makes you read these stupid pointless articles that you can't understand and that you have to download. Her final was take home but so f*cking stupid. The questions were hard and your notes could barely help. You take a trip to citicorp, whoopdeedo, lets keep our children in a prison ey? Also, you have to do a storytime presentation...good luck. Everything you do is not enough. you waste your gas money going to the library, and she doesnt even watch them. But then critiques you all to hell and back... I burned her notes and her stupid books. Take that sabatical,..and stay there!

So she is really easy. I slacked off and got a good grade. You have online quizzes you have to do each week, but you can use the book. She rambles on the whole time about her children and the powerpoint notes. You won't learn anything. She does try to make it fun by doing some hands on activities. You have to do 3 observations of children. It is not a bad class, if you want to find the easiest prof. If you won't to learn don't take her.

Alright, I took infant/toddler with dr. pettit the last semester it was a class, and she decided that it would be a good idea to throw the ENTIRE CURRICULUM out the window. Instead, she assigned us this massively difficult group project (even though she hates group projects) and expected us to be able to do it perfectly with hardly any guidance. She's a great woman and really knows her stuff, but I didn't learn one thing about infants and toddlers, which really makes me angry, cause that's why I took the class. She's extremely disorganized, but she tries her hardest to help you when you need it, and so that helps keep her class from being entirely pointless.

She really enjoys teaching and is very positive, but extremely disorganized. All of the opportunities are there to be successful in her class, but sometimes you just feel like it's pointless to be there. She will always be there if you need help. The best part of the class is a trip to CitiCorp Child Care Center in Hagerstown.
