She is very easy I believe. I received a B in the class. I had her for two semesters. Everything is very basic. If you get a low C on the all the exams you can still pass the class with a B. She is always there to help. Make sure that you are practicing Spanish outside of the class too. Make sure you complete the online assignments. Sometimes she does not tell you that they are posted so make sure you check online regularly. The exams are broken up into three parts {quiz, written and oral} very easy. Whatever is on the written that is mostly the oral too. She does not like emails if you email her it will take a little while until she responses just better off going to her office.

Dr. Pineda is an awesome professor. Her classes are not too difficult, but I would advise you against taking any 100-level classes with her, she is much better served at teaching anything at the 200+ level. I have learned so much from her in the past 2 semesters including improving my fluency. Take her for anything 200+. She's truly awesome, and at times funny :)

Pineda Volk is an okay teacher. One bad thing about her though is that you kind of have to teach yourself the vocab. I think we went over vocab two or three times in the two classes I had her. Overall, as long as you go to class(attendance factors in a lot),do the online homework, and participate every now and then you should be able to pass.

I have had her 4 times, and I recommend her to anyone. She does not stick to the syllabus as much as other teachers, but she always lets you know what to do well in advance. Her classes are fun, and you do different things a lot. I have never had any problems with her. On the contrary, I have found her very friendly and willing to help those that care to ask for it. If anything she is too nice. Her sense of humor is hard to get a hold on at first, but just assume she is kidding, because she probably is. Just try your best and she will hook you up.

Yes, her class is easy. She does all she can to make sure that everybody gets a good grade in her class. She understands that really nobody wants to take Spanish, but at some point we all have to. I was so scared to take intermediate Spanish, but she made it ok. Itís nice to have a professor that understands that you really donít want to be taking this class, and because she understands that she does not make it impossible. More importantly she does not kill you with work!

Let me just start off by saying, I am a retard at Spanish. In 9th and 10th grade I just barely squeaked by. I was dreading having to take Spanish as a gen ed here, but luckily, Professor Pineda was not only very nice, but the class was EASY! If I can pull of a B- in it, there's no reason why you can't pull off an A. Highly recommended.

Ok, I'll admit. Dr. Pineda's class was EXTREMELY easy. She did everything she could to ensure we got good grades. But, the class was still really fun, and I learned a lot. I'm not going on to any further levels of Spanish so I can't comment on how well she prepares students for them, but I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Dr. Pineda's class.

Yeah, the class was a little too easy, but you ask why? Because nobody cared about her class, they'd come in late, talk while she was, cheat on tests, and just plain be idiots. I say Kudos to her for putting up with the morons that go to Ship. If you really want to learn Spanish take her class but supplement it with a little effort! She is a nice prof, and doesn't deserve all the b/s she gets.

Dr. Pineda-Volk is one of the nicest teachers at Ship. I enjoyed class, and even though it was spanish reading we did a lot of talking in spanish. I am not the best at speaking it, but I enjoyed the opportunities to try! I would recommend this prof. based on the fact that she helps you a lot if you want it and the curriculum is not entirely difficult. People may not think they are learning a lot of spanish, but I can tell you that you are because you have to write a lot, and you have to try to speak it in class. We use our dictionaries a lot for words that we aren't sure of, so that is a plus. There is only one exam in this class, so if you do good on it you should be fine for the course! Thanks for a great semester Dr. P!!!!!

When is your birthday? What kind of car do you drive? What did you do last weekend? .... All I have to say is make sure you know the answers to these questions... this is Spanish 103 and this teacher will go around the room and ask you questions like this... I DID HARDER STUFF IN HIGH SCHOOL! To begin, she can't teach! She knows nothing about teaching... she basically talks to the class, she doesn't teach it. She doesn't give too many homework assignments, therefore, her tests and other assignments are alright, but sitting through her 50 min. classes is the hard part. CLASS IS SO BORING. I dread going to this class. Not only is this class boring, this is one of the classes that you can't fall asleep in because she goes around the room asking you dumb questions like what is your mothers maiden name. If you want an easy grade take her, but if you want to learn something, please take someone different.

I took this class because I am terrible in Spanish and I heard she was a decent prof. I do not know what changed but she was the worst teacher I ever had. She barley showed up for class and when she did it was minimal amount of teaching. You basically have to teach yourself the entire semester which is pretty hard to do. If Spanish is not your strong subject, would never advise anyone to take this class.

If you have to do 3 semesters of language I suggest you avoid this chick! She is the worst professor that I have ever had at Ship, and I am a junior! I would just dread going to her class because I didn't understand what she was trying to "teach" her previous class so I didn't understand sh*t! The whole class she basically just embarrasses you! She will do "review" with little flashcards or she will just walk up to you randomly and start speaking in Spanish and you will just look at her like WTF are you saying??? When you don't get it right she makes you feel stupid in front of the whole class, and she won't even tell you the right answer so you are just left confused. Her exams weren't really hard if you were good at teaching yourself. When you ask her for an explanation she just simply says..."because that is the way it is." Luckily I caught on to her horrible teaching in time to withdraw from her class instead of screwing up my GPA. If you take her class, be prepared to be super stressed out !!!!!!!

Unless you enjoy doing jumping jacks or push ups for incorrect answers, don't take Pineda-Volk. She does not stick to the syllabus, explain anything, or encourage students to learn Spanish. While her tests are fairly easy, she covers maybe half of the material we are graded on in class. Avoid her if possible.

Dr. Pineda doesn't explain things or communicate very well, so going into a test or a quiz, even if you know the information, is rather stressful because you know that you're going to get a horrible grade. She won't explain if she wants things listed or underlined, so she takes off a majority of points. For the one exam we had, no one knew that stuff was supposed to be underlined because it didn't say that in the directions, and only one person did it. She freaked out on the class and basically told us we suck. She's not worth it if you want a good grade or you want to learn Spanish.

Dr. Pineda is by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my whole education career. She thinks everyone understands spanish. She just randomly says something, she gives you assessments on things that she did not even teach. If you don't want to waste your money then I suggest that you take some other teacher. The worst part about it is that when you confront her about a problem the class is having, she does absolutely nothing. She just doesn't care about teaching her students at all. She should be fired and banned from teaching ever again. You will learn nothing from her. My brother in 8th grade who has taken spanish for two years can teach me more than this women can. She is giving a bad name to the spanish department and teachers all over. She is taking a spot at this school, while there is some probably other teachers that enjoy what they are doing, teach their students, help their student when it is needed, and actually care how the students are progressing in their class. If the spanish department keeps this teacher on the staff that is just a slap in a face to all students who take their education seriously. No one from this point on should sign up to take any of her class. Boycott!

Professor Pineda-Volk is the absolute worst excuse for a college professor. She is the most unorganized person and couldn't teach if her life depended on it. Her class is seriously a joke....if you get something wrong you have to go up the front of the room and do sit ups and push ups in front of the entire class. If anything she is more worried about the way she dresses than how she does teaching a COLLEGE course. She expects you to learn everything from the book and when you get something wrong she doesn't even tell you why it was wrong or what you need to improve on. She doesn't check her email very often so if you need to tell her something important you better say it loud and clear right to her face. She thinks everything is a big joke and that everything is absolutely hilarious, even when you pronounce words incorrectly. I have learned nothing in her class thus far and I have had to teach myself everything that I have learned. Do not take her for any course!!! She is a horrible professor and won't help you out ever!!

Pineda-Volk is probably the worst spanish prof. ever. She never followed the syllabus and her class was so stupid. We didn't really get taught anything and she just taught about stuff we learned in her photo-copied book. If you can speak Spanish well she will usually question what you are saying even though everyone else understands. Totally ridiculous.

After taking Pineda's class, I am so grateful that I will never again have to deal with another Spanish class. Yes, the class is easy, but I prefer to learn something useful in the classes I take, so it's level of difficulty means absolutely nothing. All you will do are vocabulary quizzes and assessments, which she doesn't put much thought into. She's never around and she doesn't respond to e-mails, plus, as others have said, she makes you feel like sh*t if you ask her a question. She is, by far, the worst professor I have ever had in my time at SU and I've had some pretty bad professors.

At one point I asked her what my grade was so far and she said "why do you care?" are you kidding??! I care becuase I am in college and I want to do well!! She also takes forver returning assignments and then expects you to correct them and turn them in the next class. She is the worst person to work with [], GOOD LUCK!!

Since this was the only spanish class I could get into, I had to take advanced conversation with Pineda. However, I should have decided against it. Basically, you go to class and sit there: you use no book, she gives no notes, and there is no instruction whatsoever. As a future educator, I understand the importance of lesson planning and preparation. However, Pineda appeared to never have any plans. During every class, we basically just sat in a circle and talked about whatever. We were only required to give speeches, but she never provided any feedback, so you did not know how you could improve. She never changed her instruction to meet the needs of the different learning styles her students. After every class, I walked away feeling like I had learned nothing. Pineda might be an excellent spanish speaker. However, she is not an effective teacher.

Dr. Pineda-Volk is very friendly. Her class was extremely easy but I think that itís just the nature of the class, not so much a reflection of her teaching. You didnít have to buy a book which was very nice. There is a lot of English speaking in her class because she doesnít get after the students for it. I may actually be worse at Spanish now then after 103 because I didnít really learn anything. I just need this class for a minor. She is a nice prof, but if you enjoy Spanish youíre probably just going to have to bear though this class until you can take some upper level class that will teach you Spanish.

Dr. Pineda-Volk would cancel class or move it to the comp lab without an email, so you'd get all the way to class before you knew about it. She would never respond to emails if you had questions. She completely changed our sylabus twice, and only had a few grades in the end. Overall, I it was an easy A, but the amount of busy work and hassle was not worth my time.

Oh my...Pineda. I gotta say that I love Spanish, but I loathe going to this class. I actually learned more about Spanish in my high school Spanish class, and that's the truth. She is a nice lady, but she has absolutely no control over the class. All the kids in my class are doofuses and they think it's funny when they act stupid and don't say anything right...and she just smiles. She writes things on the board that aren't really relevant, and makes us do exercises that don't really teach us any grammar, any pronunciation, NOTHING. Although, if you want an easy class, this is one to take...However, you'll leave the class totally unprepared for the next level of Spanish in the event you take another prof's class.

Although she is a very nice person, she's a little bit of an airhead. Her class was easy for me to pass, but I can see where some might have trouble. She didn't really ever teach the grammar, because she assumed we already knew it, which wasn't always true. But she virtually never checks homework, just the listening exercises. As long as you take part in the class discussions, you'll do fine on the tests.
