Pomeroy isn't a bad professor but I didn't overly enjoy his class, either. There's a lot of information to know for each test, so you study for hours trying to make sure you know everything only to get a test that's only 25 to 30 questions. It makes you feel like you wasted a lot of your time studying. But he doesn't tell you what's on the test (he'll tell you what he "might" ask you on a test, but half the time don't expect it to always be on there) so you have to study all the material whether you like it or not. Despite studying and feeling like you know the information, some of the material in his questions is unrecognizable so you can still expect to get 85% after studying for two hours. His powerpoints are posted on Blackboard but don't let that fool you. He gives most of the information in class so make sure you attend the lecture (reading the book isn't a necessity unless you want to... but if you don't feel like reading the chapters, don't bother buying the book). There are 4 exams (including the final), a small 2 page paper on a Census Bureau topic that he gives you (easy assignment), a National Park presentation and paper (easy but time consuming, biggest grade you have for the class so make sure you spend time on it and do it right), and a 2 page event paper (he gives you a number of outside events to attend to write a response paper to). He's a decent professor, but if you take him at 8:00am like I did, be prepared to not really want to be there.

Dr. Pomeroy is such a nice guy and he makes the class interesting. Even though some of his lectures can get boring, he jokes around sometime about sports which I loved. His tests are not too hard, but you should at least study for them. There are 3 papers but they are all easy if you do the work that he requires. If you are looking for a geography class, take him!

Professor Pomeroy is a great teacher. He uses PowerPoint, which he posts on blackboard, and takes his exam questions from that. There are never quizzes and the papers you need to write (3 to be exact) are easy and you get the information for them on the first day. Exams are multiple choice and easy as can be. Take this class, you won't regret it!

Mr. Pomeroy if you read this you are my favorite teacher. Everyone there is only one word to describe Mr. Pomeroy and that word is fantastic. He is the best teacher I've ever had anywhere I've gone. Not only is he nice and helpful, but he's always there to lend a helping hand if you need it. If you come to class and do your work you will not fail. All the good comments are true, and if there is a bad comment, the person who wrote it obviously had a bad experience, although I don't know how they could have had one, but take him you will not regret it!!!

George Pomeroy is hands downs one of the best professors I have had at Ship. Honestly he wants to be able to give you an awesome grade. His tests are a little tough, but he gives you so many point opportunities to help your grade. If you don't do well in this class it is because you're lazy, or just stupid.

Ok so sometimes his lectures can be boring but who cares! This class is so easy. You have like 3 multiple choice tests, and 3 super simple projects. The second project is basically a repeat of the first so you already have all the work done! And the third is a power point presentation about a national park. He makes tons of jokes, that aren't always funny but are definitely good additions to the lectures. All of which are power point and on the internet. Seriously, if you have the chance to take Pomeroy, TAKE HIM! He's so personable and friendly.

4 ridiculously easy tests, a few small and easy projects, this class was the easiest A of my life. His lectures are entertaining, his jokes are awesome, because they are so bad. He's really a nice guy and you have to try very hard to not do well in his class. Take him, you'll enjoy it.

Dr. Pomeroy is very boring but he loves what he is doing and knows the subject he teaches well. He wants everyone to do well so he will help you in any way he can and he will give extra credit and stuff. You have to study to do well on his exams, if you dont youre in for trouble. But he is very kind and will help you whenever needed.

This Prof. really was a lot of fun. He gives a lot of notes and has a strange sense of humor but he is funny. His tests are around 50 questions but are really easy. He has a couple of projects that don't take much time and aren't very difficult. If you take him and go to class you will have no problems.

Dr. Pomeroy is an awesome prof. The class was really easy too. He knows his stuff and wants to help you learn. Class was interesting and the tests were extremely easy. If you get the chance take Pomeroy at least once while you are here at Ship.

I love this man....suck up to him the first few weeks of class and you'll have him wrapped around your finger the rest of the semester. He's a little random and disorganized, but such a great guy you can't help but love him. He talks and talks during class and you barely get through the syllabus but he doesn't make you finish it. We had about 4 weeks worth of material still to cover by finals time, but he didn't try to squeeze it in. 3 exams (MC and short answer, matching or map, it changed) and then the final which was the only tricky test. He makes you do some projects but they're so easy and a little fun (as fun as geography can be). There's also the National Park project, which is cake. Go to the extra credit stuff if you can, his face will light up if he sees you there and you only have to write like a page and a half of BS to get 10 points. If I was forced to take another geo class, it'd be with him, no doubt!!

Professor Pomeroy is a really great guy. He cares about what he teaches, which can be a rareity now-a-days. He is very unbeat and enthusiastic about teaching. He loves to tell stories about trips he's taken all over North America. Bottom line, if you show him respect and do your work, he will be fair.... maybe even help that grade come Finals week.

Take this guy!! He is one of the profs that wants you to learn EFFECTIVELY. He doesn't give you the easy way out, but he makes sure you understand what he expects from you. You give your best, he credits you. I take him every chance I get. He tries to make class fun.

He is a good teacher but hard to stay awake to in the early morning, which is the only time he teaches anyway. Over all a nice guy but tends to babble a lot in class. Probably a good idea to show up to class because he does try to make his class based off of his lectures rather then what is in the book. Tends to not be in class for the days he gives tests, so you can't ask any last minute questions before the test.

Dr. Pomeroy is a very nice guy, don't get me wrong. But for the love of GOD he is very BORING! Tests are average, take a few notes, listen to what he says (if you can w/o falling asleep). To make class more fun I was counted the number of times he says "you bet," and how many times he laughs out of the corner of his mouth. Watch out for his humor. He means well but nobody has the heart to tell him his jokes suck!

Class can be boring and the tests aren't easy but he's always willing to help. Class attendance is not mandatory, but go, the notes are important. nice guy, not too easy which alot of people want but atleast he's not a prick
