This class was very enlightening. I learned a lot about the history of women in america, etc. It was all very good, all guys should take this class. A couple of papers and tests and a community service project that actually turned out pretty well; it was a fun class. It was also funny to watch this ulta-conservative girl who sat next to me squirm in her seat when we talked about reproductive rights, etc. You're a woman for christ's sake, you're supposed to be for this stuff!

I hate history, and I had Dr. Rimby fall 2005 and she was a great teacher. She does lecture pretty much every class..but she makes it interesting and she gives you an outline of the main points at the beginning of class so you know where she's at throughout the lecture. There are 2 books you have to read and then write a paper for each. If you actually read the books, and you follow the correct MLA or footnote stuff, you will get at least a B. There is a Mid-term and Final that are just 2 essay questions each. That sounds bad at first, but she gives you 4 or 5 essay questions at the beginning of the semester and then after the mid-term, and it turns out those are the same questions she asks on the mid term and final. Participation is a big part of your grade too, come to class and just say one thing every class and you get an A for that. Take her, and you will get at least a B.

Subject: Worth Taking, But Difficult  (Jan 16 2006, 11:33PM)

Dr. Rimby was a pretty good teacher. She knew her information and didn't repeat herself constantly. A lot of the notes given in class is straight from the text. However, READ YOUR TEXT BOOK! This is the best piece of advice I can give. With the two tests (midterm/final), the skeleton of your essay comes straight from the notes. However, if you want an A, you have to know additional information, which is from the text. Its possible to get a c without reading the book, but to get a higher grade, you need to work for it. I would sign up for another one of her classes in the future...

She was the most empathetic teacher that I've ever had! She absolutely cared and was super helpful as much as possible. She was always at class, and always offered to help me get my grades back up!

She is extremely helpful, very positive, and makes somewhat difficult material easy and relatable. Ship should count their lucky stars that they have her! Definately take her!

First of all she makes history really interesting. The work load isn't bad at all and she isn't crazy with her expectations. She grades fairly and as long as you do the work and go to class it should be no problem. She is also really nice and willing to help if you need it.

This prof makes history interesting. She also understands that history is not likely your major and doesn't expect you to love it like other teachers. The homework is minimal and the journal entries only take 15 minutes a week. Overall, if you go to class and pay attention, you should do fine. She is also really nice as long as you don't BS her. A friend of mine tried that and got burned.

Professor Rimby is overall a nice person. I am learning disabled and she always made accomodations for me to take my tests in the Office of Social Equity. However the tests involve a lot of detail. So be prepared to read and study every word of the reading assignments that she gives.
