Geez you're in college. If you mind doing work, maybe you shouldn't be. Dr. Schoolcraft rocked. Sure she didn't curve the tests but she's an excellent prof. We did practice problems and quizes to prepare for tests and she lets you take whatever you got out of 100 instead of say 118 on tests. Chem is a hard subject but she really cares that everyone knows what is going on. She even gave out tests from the year before to review and models the one you take after it. Dr. Schoolcraft knows a whole bunch but can explain it really well even to people who aren't good at science. I highly recommend her class if you actually want to learn something and finally get a prof that cares.

She might make some boo-boos in lecture, but it is just stage fright. When you're one on one with her she is truly amazing at helping you understand a concept. So if you don't understand something, see her in her office hours or drop her an e-mail. The best thing and worst thing about her is her tests. They are ridiculously long (150-180 minutes and you don't finish it all) and you are absolutely mentally exhausted when you're completed. But the best thing about them is it covers EVERYTHING you learned since the previous test so if you learned something, at least you know you can get some points for knowing it and, here is the kicker, if the test has 135 points and you get 85 out of 135 instead of getting a 63%, she takes 85 out of 100, so you have 85%. She also drops your lowest three quiz grades which is a lifesaver. Overall, this is a difficult subject and you won't get it without doing some outside work, if you don't do well, you really can only blame yourself because this class is doable and she always has her door open to help you. I highly recommend Dr. Schoolcraft for any class.

She is ALWAYS around her office and more than willing to help you learn chemistry. She is extremely nice and really does care about her student's success. She gives lots of handouts in class that have answers to the quizzes you just took and this helped me learn a lot. The downside is her tests are pretty difficult and she usually graded on a curve so that the average score on a test was a C. Still, I recommend to take her class.

She requires a lot of work, but when you do it, even though it takes a while, it's a good part of your grade, so you feel like you're doing it for a reason. plus, doing all the work actually helped me learn, and after chem bonding i haven't done as well in any chem class becuase no other prof required to do the homework so i never learned as well as i did in her class. she's also there to help you at any point. i would definitely recommend her.

She didn't start giving good lectures until nearly the end of the semester. Stuff that she barely taught was worth the most on exams, while stuff we spent tons of time doing was barely on the exams. The exams were usually impossible (class average for exam #2 = 54%.) She gave us a final that she knew most people couldn't do, and instructed us to "do the multiple choice as fast as possible, write in the formulas for the word problems, and, if you have time, actually do the calculations". No homework, which may sound appealing, but in reality most people need hmwk to actually learn their stuff. I learned close to nothing, and miraculously got a C+. She does offer help and pre-exam practice sessions, but all-in-all, i wouldn't recommend her.

Science is not my strong suite at all, but taking a low level chemistry is supposed to be somewhat easy. Dr. Schoolcraft taught everyone like they were chemistry majors who knew what they were doing, however, most of the kids sat there and wondered what the hell was going on. She gives out study guides for the exams, but they don't help too much and the only extra credit you will get is from correcting the mistakes on a test, this is what saved me from failing. The tests are quite difficult but a few people in my class got A's on them. Two graded assignments means that there isn't much out of class work but you still need to keep up on the notes she gave in class. If you are terrible at science don't even consider taking her.

Schoolcraft is the worst professor at ship and probadly any other college. Her test are impossible for everyone and i think even she would fail them. The one time before the final in her study session a question was asked and she tried to do it on the board and couldn't figure it out. So she turned around and said to the class gald i'm not taking the final tomarrow. She sucks.

Dr. Schoolcraft is a really, really nice lady. You can tell she has always been kind of a dork, but she knows WAY TOO MUCH to be teaching an intro class. She requires SOOOO much work out of class that I had 4 classes this semester and I still didn't have enough time to do it. Class is taught like you're a grad student and it's definately not a 100 level class!!! Do not take!

She is a very nice person. She is light hearted, and easy to talk to. However, she doesn't really teach. She guides you along. She requires that you a)read and take notes out of the book. b)take notes on the lectures (attendence is required/graded) c)do the homework...write out the problem and the answer. This was WAY to much work for an intro class. This class took more time than any of my classes put together. And her tests are impossible. For example, a test I had...class average 65%, 3 people scored above an 80%. Highest grade was 85%. There is NO curve in the class. This was one hard gen. ed. DO NOT take her as a gen. ed. She offers extra credit..but its so small, it doesn't have much of an impact. Her tests are impossible, and she requires more out of class work than should be asked of in a gen. ed. class. If I wanted to know this much about chem, I'd be an f'ing chem major.

Dr. Schoolcraft is a nice lady...I give her that. But as far as teaching, she should give up. Her tests are impossible, and she couldn't even grade them herself. She once told us Dr. Mack had to help her grade because SHE couldn't do the problems!! Stay away at all costs!

So yeah, the class is HARD and LOTS OF WORK, but that's to be expected with any chem class. Dr. Schoolcraft is an ok prof and tries to form personal relationships with each student. She gives you extra credit just for signing up to meet with her in her office and discuss how you're doing in the course and things you would like to change about it. She seemed a little scatterbrained at times and not always easy to follow, but all in all not too bad. Take her if you have to..just be willing to work hard.

Nice lady. Always around to help. Classes are actually somewhat interesting. BUT, LOTS of outside work (mainly taking lots of notes from the book that she grades) and her tests are hard. Some extra credit is avaible if you talk to her, but won't make a big impact on your grade. really trys to get to know you as a person, but her as a teacher... See if there is an easier prof.
