It is his last semester, but I just wanted to let everyone know that he was an awesome professor. I learned a lot which I can't say for my other classes. The tests were lengthy but if you studied you'd do well. There are 10 page book critique papers but he tells you exactly what he wants in them. Take him.

Dr. Snow can be boring, and the class material is boring, but he knows so much and expands on what we're covering. His tests are pretty easy, and the critiques weren't that bad either. If I did all of them I definitely would have had an A.

What to say about Dr. Snow? Dr. Snow knows what he is talking about. There is no doubt in my mind that he doesn't. How do I know this? Sit in one of his classes and he will just go off on tangents about World History, rattling off facts as if he has a paper in front of him. The guy is a very educated when it comes to the topic of history. He is a very nice guy, easy to get along with, even though he may seem a little intimidating. Grading wise, as long as you stay awake and take good notes in his class and study a little, his quizzes come really easy and you get to drop the lowest one. His tests are definitely tests, not quizzes, because after them your hand hurts. But again, he gives you the study sheets a week in advance and you know what is going to be one the tests. The tests and quizzes aren't hard if you study and take good notes. The one downside of his assignments are the infamous book critiques. You have 3 a semester, consisting of 10 pages each. They are a pain in the butt, but he breaks down what he wants in them...so it really isn't that hard...just painstaking, because the books he picks are ridiculously boring. For them, he grades fairly easy...so you really don't have to sweat them. This semester he had Supplemental Instruction, which he gives 5 extra credit points if you go...so I would DEFINITELY recommend them because they don't hurt you. The big downside of Snow...is he is an old school prof who lectures every class period using an overhead projector. Straight lecture classes are obviously really boring, but if you sit back and listen to him, he will amaze you with his vast knowledge. I am not going to take Snow next semester for the sole reason of the 3 ten page papers...but I would recommend him if you can sit through boring class periods.

Snow is a really great guy. He may be old and he has a really dry sense of humor. Snow gives you all the notes in class and plenty of extra information. This class is an easy A if youre willing to work at it. The only thing is dont take his class in the afternoon. Also be warned that you write 3 Book Critiques during the semester that are 10pgs long. There is Supplemental Education that is offered for this course that if you attend it makes the course that much easier and he offers 5 extra credit points at the end of the semester on your final grade.

Dr. Snow's class is very effective if you appreciate the ideas behind history. If you attend the SI sessions, five percent is added to your overall grade. The quizzes are real easy, and he drops the lowest one. The only big pain you will experience are the book critiques because he expects them to be around 9-10 pages. If you just read the books (which I doubt, because most of you might believe that you have other things to do), go to SI sessions (hopefully it will be offered), spend about twenty minutes a day going over your material, I'm pretty sure you will be guaranteed an "A." All Dr. Snow requires is the amount of effort you put into these critiques. Oh, one more thing, he doesn't put up with bullshi*ters.

Be prepared for a ton of information. Dr. Snow really knows what he is talking about, and gives a lot of information each class. The notes are put up on a projector, but there is a lot that he throws in that you definitely should know for tests and quizzes. He's a great guy with a good sense of humor and wants you to learn. It was an interesting class that I enjoyed going to.

Dr. Snow arrives at his classes armed with his notes, intellect, and a sharp and dry wit. At first, he's going to seem like the condescending cold hearted college teacher that everyone in high school tells you is going to be there. Of course, he is not, it is just his very strong dry humor projected through a serious and strong professionalism. Snow puts the notes up on the projector, but listen closely because ALOT of the information is in his lectures. Make sure you attend his classes because one absence can screw you over on the next quiz. His book critiques are easier than he says they are so don't worry. I would take Snow again for any history class.

I took Snow for World History I this semester and I'm taking him for II next semester. There's two papers (be warned: the books are so boring), a few quizzes (the lowest grade is dropped), and three tests. The class is difficult, but he really knows what he's talking about. I really feel like I learned a lot in the class, and the semester isn't over yet.

You will take a quiz every 2 weeks on the notes. I didn't crack the book once and Aced every quiz. He gives you 3 exams with study guides that tell you exactly what's on the exam. The killer in this class are the novels that you have to read. 3 novels aproximatley 250 pages each, and a 10 page report for each. I read all the books and B. S.ed a little and Aced them also. If you are willing to read these books, it is worth not having to open the history text book.

12 of 37 students found this review helpful.

This was a tough class, but Dr. Snow was an awesome teacher. the papers he gives you to do are really long, and the books are pretty boring but he seemed to go very easy on grading them, don't let his criteria scare you. His lectures were extremely interesting, but make sure you don't miss any of them. missed classes will ultimately take out a huge chunk of the stuff you are tested on, unless you are able to go to his "SI" sessions, which I obviously didn't. His tests weren't too bad, the way he gives them is very fair. he will give you a review sheet before the test with thirty or so terms, of those thirty he picks fifteen to be on the test, and of those fifteen you must pick five to answer. the same goes for the essay, he'll give you seven or so on the review sheet, from those three or four will be on the test, and of those you pick one to do... pretty fair if you ask me. Dr. Snow is a really nice guy, but the papers were pretty backbreaking and even though I did well on them apparently the quizzes (which often contained information not covered in class) were worth more than I thought. Still a great guy and I would take a class with him again, despite a lower grade than I was expecting. He's also a Pittsburgh Pirates fan which is awesome.

Dr. Snow's class definitely requires some time and effort but he makes it easy for you to get an "A" if you take a little extra time to study. He gives you all the notes so you never have to open the book, a quiz every week or every couple of weeks that comes straight from the notes, and 2 exams and a non-comprehensive final. The only part that really sucked was the three 10 page book critques, but if you dont procrastinate you'll get a decent grade. He's fairly laid back and grades easy. I would recommend Dr. Snow to anyone!

Dr. Snow is an awesome teacher. Granted the books you have to read aren't so hot and the 10 page papers can kick ya in the butt. I found that I read the first book, received a C on the paper, read part of the second book, received a C+ on that paper, didn't read the 3rd book and received a B on that paper. Also, his tests and quizzes are decent. I learned after the first test that his class was one that I NEEDED to study in. I usually can just "get by" with going to class and paying attention, but I found that his class involved a little more of my time. But I enjoyed the class and I'm not that big on my history either. So take him, you'll learn alot.

Snow is a great teacher. In fact i took his class for granted. You can't expect to get by in life by not reading books and not studying for quizzes. The man gives you enough notes so you never have to open your books and he's always there to help you. I wish I would have never taken his class as a joke. But I'll probably take the man again.

Professor Snow is a good guy. He really does know what he is talking about and gives good notes. He also doesnt take attendance which totally kicks ass. The one thing that is hard about his class is writing the 3 ten page papers... The good thing is that if you are good and bull-sh*tting a paper you can get A's on the papers without reading the books, which is exactly what I did. On a side note, I kind of got a kick out of his class cause he looks like Colonel Sanders from KFC, which I thought was f*cking awesome.

Snow is a great teacher. He comes into the classroom with alot of backround in history. He definitly knows what he is talking about. His class is fairly straight forward. You have something like 2 or 3 exams and 5 quizes. The quizes are easy as long as you pay attention in class and study a little bit. Also his tests are very good becasue he gives you a comprehensive review sheet that tells you everything you need to know to pass the test. The tests are hard if you don't study, however if you put time in then you will ok well. Also he has you write Critiques about 3 books. The first 2 books have been very interesting and easy to read. I havn't written the 2nd yet, but they are laid out in the syllibus. He is a very nice guy and he is very funny. Take this professer if you are willing to work for you grade and actually learn about World History!

Dr. Snow's class was very easy. The ten page papers may seem outrageous, but don't worry about them. Mine were only about 6-7 pages and I got A's on all of them. He always talks about drinking, which is his favorite past time. You don't have to go to class everyday and you will still have a clue what's going on.

Dr. Snow is prob my fave professor so far. I had Clay for WH1, and it was my death class. First of all, I was scheduled to take Snow's class at 9:30 on Tues/Thurs. He had a 2:00 class which was a lot easier to wake up for, so I told him that my "study partner" was in the 2:00 and he was like, "Alright, come to my 2:00." Second, I am a huge procrastinator and I always waited till the night before to do those damn 9-page book critiques. So far he has given me 2 extensions to do them. I've gotten B's on the first two. Third, I'm not a big fan of history (thanks to Dr. Clay), but Prof. Snow makes it so interesting and fun. He teaches really well and keeps me interested. His tests are easy because he'll give little quizzes that lead up to it. Overall, he is an awesome guy who loves to drink and knows we do too, haha, and I highly recommend taking his class!! (Hint: girls-- flirt a lil bit, it helps me out hehe)

I am not a person who likes history but I found his interesting as far as history goes because he elaborates on his notes instead of just reading them directly. All his tests and quizes are very straight forward so a little bit a studying will get you an A. The only thing thats annoying are the 3 book critiques that he makes you write that are supposed to be 10 pages long. However, you don't need to read the whole book to write the critique, mine were only about 7 pages and it doesn't have to be pretty like in english class.

Dr. Snow is a very intelligent man, but I found him to be very down-to-earth as well. He is an effective teacher...it isn't easy to teach world history in a way that makes anyone care, but he did a good job in my class. The book reviews aren't bad if you're a resourceful person...I didn't read any of the books, but my papers were longer than necessary and I didn't get below an A on any of them. Quizzes are straight from the notes and some of the book vocab, and tests are straight from quizzes, notes, and book. Overall, I liked this class, and Dr. Snow, a lot.

The tests are really hard; you studay a ton of info and there is only a select amount of info. on the actual test. His lectures are tedious so dont' schudle his course in teh morning. Try to get on his good side the first week and you will be alright. Go to every class. But overall I reccommend NOT to take this course. Try Burg!!!

Dr. Snow's class isn't horrible, but it's not great either. 2-3 book critiques per semester that need to be 8+ pages in length. He isn't overly strict in grading them, but the topics are boring as all heck! His exams aren't too bad, he gives you the topics you'll need to know beforehand. We had a student instructor that went over things each week, so that helped as well. His quizzes are pretty crazy--studying won't do much if you can't remember every minute detail in 5 pages of notes. He lectures and gives notes each and every class, the entire time--pretty boring. But it IS the history of World Civilization, so that's to be expected. He comes across as mean at first, but that's just a scare tactic. He really is a nice, funny guy after awhile. I'd look at other options before taking him, but it's not TOO bad.

Dr. Snow is an okay prof. You take two tests, six quizzes, and have to do a total of 3 books reports. He drops your lowest quiz grade. The tests arent too bad if you study for them. He gives you a study guide of possible identifications and essay questions. His quizes are ridiculous- I would study and get 50s not study and get 80s. He would pull questions from nowhere. If you dont like history I recommend Dr. Snow, because you dont really have to pay attention to his lectures, because the majority of his quiz questions come from class notes and the majority of his test questions come from quizes. He does pull some real @$$hole moves though. The one time he told us that the quiz would just be on the information we cover today, and it wasnt. When confronted about it he goes why would I of said such a thing...oh well...you are where you stand.

there are def easier proffs. the papers and book readings are crazy but the tests are ok...he just talks and talks all period and some days i thought my hand would fall off. he grades people according to how he likes you. you should go to class even though its not mandatory because you need the notes unless you plan on studying and copying another persons which will take you just as long. You dont really need a book just borrow someone else's to study during test time because he doesnt assign any reading.

Well I have the guy in the morning.. and basically all you do is take notes in his class and at times i contemplate suicide. He gives a few quizes are fairly easy. He has 2 test and then the final test. So far I've done alright on them because he gives u the info and you have to look it up for urself and study it. The one thing i do dislike is the three 8-10 page papers. I mean yeh u can make it around 6-7, but the last book we are reading is aweful to write a 8 page paper on. I mean he is ok, and is an ok prof, but there is better.

Dr. Snow is a good professor, although classes are boring, he gives quizes, and 3 tests throughout the semester, which aren't too bad if you study for them. The only pain in that class is reading the 3 required books and writing a long critique on them. He doesn't just read you his notes, so it's easy to keep up while copying down the notes from the overhead.

Dr. Snow is a brilliant man. He definately knows what he is talking about. His tests are not that hard as long as you study. The papers are on dry boring books but are easy to write. Fore warn, you must have the papers in perfect grammatic form or the paper will be torn apart. In his previous life he was probably an English prof. If you truly want to learn, I recommend taking Snow.

On the first day Snow has a whole speech he gives about how this is not a "fluff" course. Beware: this is not just a scare tactic! He's telling the truth! He's a great teacher, know's what he's talking about and is always there to help. But the class is hard as shit! There are three 8-10 page papers due and he's not an easy grader. If you're interested in history, then he's the guy to take. But if history isn't your thing, I'd suggest someone else.

Very boring class. Lots of notes and work. BUT he is a very easy grader. Quizes, Tests and Papers are the majority of your grade. See if Quist is avaiable, if not, I guess take him.
