There really aren't enough good things I can say about Dr. Bateman. Never have I met a professor who is as caring as he. He actually cares about each student individually and is always willing to answer any questions. I got more out of his class than any other class. Hands down the best professor this university has.

Bateman is one of the best professors I've encountered at Ship. He's very knowledgeable, easy-going, and is willing to work with you. The only problem is the tests and quizzes in class, which you would think would be on the notes as well as the books but were incredibly difficult. Basically, not a single main aspect from the class notes would appear on the tests or quizzes which were composed of some of the most obscure and pointless facts entirely from the text book. So if you learn to just study the textbook and ignore the notes you should do fine. This was really the only problem with the course, if the material on the notes had importance in the testing, it would have been a much better experience.

Gives a lot of stories that help you to understand what he is teaching about! Makes things practical and useful! Funny, there is no way you can fall asleep in his class. Favorite professor!

By far my favorite teacher at ship! He is very entertaining and keeps you awake in class. His quizzes are mostly from the readings and what he says in class but not hard at all. He is very funny and likes volunteers! AMAZING TEACHER

He is the best professor. period. He makes class so much and its so easy to pay attention. I looked forward to going to this class everyday. He makes things interesting and at the same time you learn so much. His exams and quizzes are extremely easy. If you can bullsh*t then you can get an A. I think if I took this class with anyone else I wouldn't have enjoyed the class. He really knows how to get the point across in a way that won't put you to sleep. If you can take him DO IT

Bateman's classes are interesting and funny. He uses his personal stories and experience to teach the class. There were only a handful of quizzes and then a midterm and final. That's it. No hw! He grades relatively easy on the midterm. His quizzes are a bit nit-picky but not too bad if you read the textbook. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Bateman was awesome! He made his class funny, but informative at the same time. I was never worried about going to his class, even if there was a quiz or a test--you could ask questions before the quizzes and tests, so ask away!

I had Dr. Bateman for two classes in the Fall 2007 semester. The classes are Intro. to Exceptionalities and Inclusion. I am a special education minor, and if you want a great learning experience in the field of special education I would definitely take him. One thing though... he might not be physically in his office at times, but if you e-mail him with a question regarding the class he will respond very quickly, at some points simultaneously to when you sent your e-mail. I would definitely take him for a class again, and would recommend anyone to take him.

He's the perfect prototype for profs throughout the university! They should sit in his classes and learn. Wow, can he teach! He's the best I've ever had.

His classes are interesting and he usually has a good sense of humor. He's not always easy to find, and many times gave out of class assignments, due to meetings outside of ship. I can't say I'm the best student; however, he's not excessively demanding of his students. He's fair and tries to help his students succeed.

Dr. Bateman is an amazing professor. I have had him for two classes now, and he still remains one of my favorites. I had him for night class in a course that had a lot of graduate level students. I learned so much from not only him, but the teachers in the room. He gives "pop quizzes" but lets you work as a group or with partners. No tests. He gives one project/presentation at the end of the semester that you can work on with a partner and an online final. Take him for ANY course and you will learn a lot!

He is terrific...great stories, yeah lame jokes from time to time but he does throw in some hilarious ones. Read the book and you will ace every exam and quiz...quiz for each chapter basically and two exams all short answer and essay but as long as you can get the point across you know what it is you get the points!! He is terrific and an inspiration to help special education.

Dr. Bateman knows how to set up a class. You go to class, listen to his field stories and learn from them. He lets you get off topic but in a constructive way. He really wants to hear what his students think. The tests are easy IF you listen in class and READ the book. No trick questions. He knows many of us will not follow his career path but we do need the basics. I learned so much in this class. With NCLB we will need all the help we can get and he offers his help to all who need it even after we start our own careers. Great class!!!

Dr. Bateman knows how to teach. He's not overly interested in the minutiae of administration, the complexity of schedules, or the paradigm of test taking. He's interested in teaching you about students with exceptionalities. I learned (and retained) more from him than any class I've taken in the last two years. He connects with the students. I would recommend this class and this Prof no matter what subject matter you are taking.

He is the best teacher I have ever had in college. His class isn't that hard, the quiz's are common sense and the tests aren't too bad. A large part of the class is class participation. If you talk you'll be ok. It is very hard not to to talk in this class though bc. of how interesting it is. He is a very funny man, with a ton of real life experience. I have found this class to be the most rewarding class I have ever taken in college!

Bateman is an overall nice guy. However his quizzes are really hard... study study study... i suggest to buy the study guide online for this class- it helps! You'll remember the main points better n it will help you study. He is a funny guy- some of his stories are sad though. I think everyone should take this class- you learn a lot of interesting info, plus it hits strongly on "diversity"; it will make you have high respect for a lot more things in your life.

He is the best professor I have had in my 3.5 years of college. He is funny, amazingly fast to return grades (got my midterm grade by email within 12 hours), and always around. Take him. The quizzes are hard, but I guarantee you will learn a lot. You can't help to, he really knows his stuff.

Dr. Bateman is a great prof. Take him if you can. His classes are very helpful and he is very quick to give grades back. He has a great sense of humor and understands how a college student works. The study guides seem very overwhelming but the exams are really not that BAD...I got a 100 on the midterm and final! You cant fail this class unless you do not pay attention in class and do NO work.

If you can take Bateman...do it! Don't even think twice about it...he is awesome! I learned more from him in that class than I have in any other class. The way he teaches is just awesome cause he never loses ur attention. If I could take him again--I would. He's always there to help, too. TAKE HIM FOR CLASS!
