Maybe the people with negative reviews had her before me and she was different then, but I have not heard 1 person from my spring of 2014 class that didn't get an A. She gave easy extra credit assignments that equaled 100 points which is equal to one of her 3 exams. Easy A. Take her if you have 1/4 of a brain.

Dr. Stone could very well be the best teacher I have had. She is very friendly and while she can be harsh after you give a speech, she knows what she is talking about and you will come out of class a much better speaker!! Read the book for her test in Prin. though. The tests are very difficult if you dont do the readings. In higher level classes it is much easier. Classes are canceled a lot which is always a plus, but when you have class it's not too bad to get through. I highly recommend taking her!!

I took her for selected topics of marketing. She cancelled the class for the whole year the first day. Gave us 2 20 page papers and their due dates, said if you need help come get it. AWESOME. The papers were relatively easy because you got to choose a topic that interested you and you either failed (F), passed (B), or excelled (A). What more can you ask for?

Marketing majors, if she you see her name for a marketing class, TAKE HER!! She will attempt to intimidate you at first, but once she sees you do your work, she'll love you and always give you the benefit of any doubt. Just do your work(it doesn't even have to be that good), and you'll do really well.

The class i took was online...it was her first online class ever as well as mine so we worked together in trying to find a neutral medium between student/teacher relations throughout the class... her availabilty was awesome.. anytime i had questions, she was there to answer them. The first words she said to us were... RELAX! This made the class less stressful. REMEMBER.. she is there to help you succeed so if you want a good grade, you have to work for it. WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT, YOU WILL GET OUT FROM IT. LOVED HER.. she is one of the professors there that really does care about our success. :)

Subject: She has gone crazy  (Feb 25 2014, 10:43AM)

Dr. Stone has literally lost it. Yes, she is an extremely nice person but she's crazy. She can't remember anything and messes up assignments. I haven't finished the semester yet, but we are 6 weeks in and we still haven't learned anything at all. She just rambles on about unrelated things and tells stories. I have nothing written in my notebook and we haven't covered any material. We are technically on chapter one since that is all she has assigned, but we have an exam next week on chapters 1 to 5. All we have done is spend 6 weeks talking about making friends…I'm not even kidding. She also cancels class as much as she can. She cancelled probably 4 of the first 7 classes. If you actually want to learn, don't take her. I'm a marketing major so I'm basically teaching myself out of the book to get the most out of this course.

I received an "A" in this class and am still labeling her a witch. Need I say more? There's a difference between constructive criticism and belittling students which is exactly what she does. BTW, don't plan on her teaching you anything. As mentioned in previous comments, she cancels almost every class and expects you to "master the material" when she herself doesn't even read what she assigns. So in summary, if you feel like spending a whole lot of your time studying/reading and doing group projects instead of focusing on your major curriculum, then this is the class for you. Otherwise, stay away! Stay far far away!

Dr. Susan Stone was not a horrible professor... she just was not good. I got an A but still hated her class. You spend the entire semester listening to people give group presentations. She might have given two or three presentations on which exam essays are usually on but majority of the exam is taken right from the book which means you have to read every chapter and learn the material on your own. This is no easy task considering the first two exams were on 7 plus chapters! You also have a ton of papers to write... I believe 6 or 7 two page papers and one 10 page paper. This class is not worth the work... take another professor.

I took her for selected topics this spring and I enjoyed not having class and didn't mind the 2 20 page papers. However, if she is going to assign them I expect her to read them. Upon handing in my second paper, I had my grade returned to me within an hour. She had a stack of papers when I gave her mine and there was no possible way she could have read it. If you don't mind getting screwed on a grade and not having class, then take her.

I took Dr. Stone for an online Winter Principles of Marketing course. I came into the course thinking I would put maybe 3 or 4 hours a week into the class and be ok. I couldn't be more wrong. I put about 20-25 hours a week into this course. At first I was upset how much time that I had to put in and how much work was assigned but then I did the math and it makes sense. Basically, a week during a winter course equals a month during a normal semester. Once I started to think that way, the course seemed a lot more fair. While there is a lot of work, the material is not too hard, and very interesting. Dr. Stone never truly explained assignments the first time you had to do them. For example, for the case studies, I got a C on the first one. After that she posted an example of an A case study. After that, I honestly copy and pasted the format, imputed my information and submitted the case studies that way and never got a grade lower than an A. If you think that you'll be able to pass this course by just slipping by, you are very much mistaken. I worked extremely hard to get an A. Again the material isn't necessarily hard, but it requires a lot of time and effort. A LOT!!!! Dr. Stone was neither a great professor nor a bad professor. It is hard to rate a professor online because they truly don't teach you anything. They just grade assignments and tell you what material you need to read. I would recommend this course/professor if you are serious about getting a good grade.

This class first off has a HUGE amount of work....a million cases and presentations...you never take notes... maybe one day out of the semester so you never know what to study for the tests. She does cancel class a lot too. It depends on who you are but I wouldnt recommend her because of the work load!

I would not take this professor again due to the fact she was never there and when she taught... wait, she never taught us. Out of the whole semester I have 3 pages of notes. NOT GOOD. If you are self motivated then this will be a great class... if you are not I would recommend you taking it with someone else.

Dr. Stone is the only person who teaches this class. Shes a nice lady and all, but the work you have to do is annoying. You have to write 1 page journal entries every week and submit them Sunday by 5pm. You have to do 85% of the assignments or you fail. You MUST go to class (if you miss more than 2 classes, you fail, and this is a pass/fail class). On the plus side, shes usually available when you need to talk to her. Also, if you don't know what you want to major in yet, this class dabs on each aspect of business.

This class was such a pain in the butt. You have to write a page summary of chapters every week and email it to her. Then you have to go to class and listen to boring lectures and stay awake from the different departments. There isn't too much you can do though, you have to take the class and stone is the only one teaching it.

Well if you're a freshman and interested in business you'll most likely have to take this class. And as of now Dr. Stone is the only one teaching it so you're stuck with her. She's a decent teacher but gives you a lot of work for this one credit course. You get homework everyweek up until the last two. She nods her head when speakers come in and talk about internships. This isn't that bad since it's only a pass/fail course.
