There are a lot of little assignments every week but they are not too bad. Sometimes I think she just puts perfect scores on everyone's papers instead of actually grading them.

I thought she was a sweet lady and her class was sooo easy!! She had us get into groups and discuss a lot. However, that was just to help our social skills towards being a teacher. I would recommend taking her. She's not bad at all.

Professor Swingler is a very good teacher in my opinon. I do not think that the people with the negative comments on this page took the class serious, concentrated in what how it related to their major, or overlooked the fact that she was a elementary teacher for 22 years and a college prof for only like 4. Overall I learned what I think I came to learn and I would recommend this class to friends in my major.

Dr. Swingler is a nice woman. Her class is a bit unorganized but very easy. There is a lot of group work but nothing too challenging. No exams, just quizzes, and readings. Outside the classroom work is easy and not very frequent. She adds a lot of personal insight to her class. Take her if you can.

Subject: Worst Prof Ever  (Apr 01 2004, 10:56AM)

I would consider myself to be a good student. I complete all homework and attend every class. However, Dr. Swingler made this routine very difficult. She was disorganized, unavailable and uninformed. She assigned students to read the chapter and take quizzes only on the notes she gave in class. Then, near the end of the semester, she realized that she needed to have a Midterm, so she just copied the list of suggested questions from the teacher's workbook. She is entirely too inept at teaching college students. Although she has a pleasant personality, she is scatter-brained and she is not even punctual! She shows up late to half of the classes and when you have assignments outside of class, she is late! Avoid this professor if you can, that is, if she isn't asked to leave first. (crossing fingers)

swingler frustrated me all semester. her class was supposed to be a simple introduction to teaching, but she made it confusing with her poor communication skills. expectations for assignments were vague at best, and her feedback on returned work, when she actually gave it, didn't help you to improve your grade for the next time. in class, she conducted her lecture as if she was teaching a middle school class, making us do stupid skits and writing pointless things on big pieces of paper taped to the walls. if you want the hassle of an assignment due every class and the frustration of dealing with a prof who is a poor communicator, take swingler. i would suggest avoiding it, if possible.

She doesn't teach, she has this whole "get in groups and teach yourselves" method. She is so unorganized, according to her syllabus we had class on thanksgiving. i mean, if we did, i sure didn't go. everytime i was in class i felt like i was wasting my time with busywork and bullshit. it made me laugh because she is about the worst teacher i've ever had. [] you can probably get a B though if you put up with her and if you don't care whether you learn anything or not.

Professor Swingler is an extremely unorganized woman. I really don't understand how she can still be employed by the school because seriously, she doesn't seem to have a clue about what is going on. She has a syllabus that she doesn't follow, and EVERYDAY is a cooperative learning lesson. I really don't believe I learned a thing from her class....very disappointing.

This was the worst class I took at Shippensburg. She is a former elementary school teacher and still teaches that way. Most of the information she gives in class is geared toward El Ed majors. So if you're Secondary skip her. Even if she asks you to tell her the truth in your journal about what you thought of class, lie. My grade was lowered because she thought I was rude in my journal but I was just telling the truth. The class stresses using different teaching methods to keep students interested, but EVERY day we did group work. How exactly do you act out an answer to a question? How ridiculous! However, she is a really easy teacher if you can stand the aggravation.

Dr. Swingler is a very nice woman but she was very disorganized during my time with her. Our classes and assignments were nowhere close to the schedule. It was a joke.

Someone needs to buy this Teacher an alarm clock/,or else teach her how to tell time. 9 out of 10 times she is 12mins to 25mins. late for scheduled appointments,or class. She thinks we are all Grade School Kids, and attempts to teach us this way. Who hiredd her? It's not fair that we pay "good money" to attend this school, and end up with this caliber of Professor. She is so un-prepared with her lessons, and seems distracted. What's up with Her?

Although Dr. Swingler is a nice woman and a relatively good prof, she is extremely unorganized. Part of her disorganization can be attributed to classes missed due to the weather, but I believe on the whole- she's just very disorganized. There's a lot of work to do for little points. She may try to keep point values low in order to make grading easier for her, but quizzes are usually 10-15 points, and readings are worth 5. It's not a waste of time because you do learn valuable information. It does require a lot of effort, and sometimes you'll complete an assignment, only for her to push back the due date. If you can handle disorganization and not knowing what's going on, take her. Oh, and by the way- don't rely on the syllabus...she isn't even familiar with it.
