Dr. Tucker is the best. He is real understanding and an all around great guy. He keeps class very interesting, one of my only classes I don't mind going to. He jokes with us, talks sports and then gets to business. He is very clear about what will be on his test. TAKE THIS MAN.

Dr. Tucker is one of my favorite teachers at Ship. He makes his classes fun and his tests are easy as long as you study, and he gives you what you need to study. He also gives options for easy extra credit points. Take him if you can.

Heres what you need to know:
5 exams-100 pnts each
-each has 5 etc. questions on them
-spaced fairly close so you don't forget much
-offers easy e.c.
-1 10-12 pg paper
-final (100 pnts)
total:700pnts
-powerpnt lectures
This class as everyone has noted is FUN and easy. Dr. Tucker's classes sometimes have me rolling with laughter.
A very sociable professor who calls on almost everyone in the class, but don't worry you can pass it to someone else or just say u don't know.
Very stylish, not that that really matters but defin. knows how to dress.
Exams are straight from the notes and he gives you TONS of hints at what the tests will be on while you take notes.
Most of the time he will read exam questions right off as you take notes you just have to be paying attention to catch that.
A very easy class, but you still learn a lot. Dr. Tucker is more concerned about making everyone useful citizens and knowing practical info. rather than just blazing through all the chapters.
Would be my first choice in ANY political science class. I'm a bio major, but still easily understood all he lectured on.
Take his class and enjoy it. Just as much as you enjoy your friday nights, when you go "drink your tea" haha.

Dr. Tucker is one of the best teachers at this school. He knows how to teach and he makes it seem like he relates with his students. He loves to joke around and his tests are easy if u take all his notes, which isn't that bad. Definitely take Dr tucker as much as possible.

Dr. Tucker was by far one of the best profs I have had. He's very effective in class. He doesnt require you to read the book but he does suggest it if you want to read ahead or anything. He only does power points for classes, but it's the information that will show up on the tests, so it's not like he's giving you pointless information. He gives you VERY easy extra credit opportunities, and his tests are not that hard if you take the notes and listen when he tells you what will be on the test. He gives extra credit on each test which is also a big help. The paper isn't that hard either. He's very funny, and he makes the time go by very fast in class. If I could take him again for anything, I would without a doubt, and if you have to take him... DO IT! I recommend him to everyone I talk to about classes. He's a great guy!

Old ronnie tucker is the man.... from his crocodile print shoes to his powerpoints he's stylish in every way. He does call on random people but he makes his classes hysterical. The Richard Nixon impression is not bad and neither are his tests. You have to study your notes like crazy but all the information is right there. During his lectures he also gives hints to what will be on his exams. On the exams he offers 5 multiple choice bonus questions. The only bad part was the 10-12 pager but he gives ample time to complete it. If you want a laugh and a GPA booster, take ronnie... he's the sh*t.

His class was a little demanding for an intro. level, but as long as you go to class and take notes, you will have the info. for the tests. The tests were multiple choice with usually 1 or 2 essay questions. They were tricky, but if you really put in the time and effort, you will do fine. He required that we do 1 project on an Amendment or something, which was worth 100 pts. As long as you spend time and put the effort into this class, you will do fine. He was a fun professor and made himself available for out of class help. All in all, it was a good class and he made it interesting.

Dr. Tucker is a great professor. He knows the ins and the outs of government. There are a ton of notes off of powerpoint, so the exams cover a lot of material. They are relatively hard, but he gives you bonus questions. There is one paper that is due, but he grades it fairly easy. He is probably the best dressed professor as well. Take Dr. Tucker if you want to actually learn something, its worth it.

Dr. Tucker is great. He is really funny and makes class fun. I would recommend taking him to anyone. His tests and quizzes come straight from the notes, he is around to help you if you need it. He likes to talk and if he is going too fast you can just let him know and he doesn't make you feel like an idiot. He will most likely say something like "this break is brought to you by milk is it in you?". It makes class more relaxing. He is the nicest guy and I recommend taking him. The only bad thing is the 8-10 page research paper he has you do but you can ask him for help on it at any time.

I'd like to address the negative comments. I never felt that he was picking on anyone; he likes to tease but I never felt he was being a jerk about it and I don't think he made anybody uncomfortable, either. Regarding his tests; Dr. Tucker must have made some changes; they're all multiple choice with usually one essay. Yes, some of the questions were kind of hard: yes, we'd all like to have our tests consist of grade school questions but this isn't grade school. He gives you a chance to earn some extra credit which is always a nice touch. You have to study; if that's a difficult concept for you, then don't take this class. I'm hoping for a B; if I don't get one, it's my fault, not his - time constraints on my study time were a problem. He's a great guy, cares deeply about his students and has the best sense of humor! I'd take him again for any class - he was the highlight of my day.

He talks a lot so be prepared to take a lot of notes. Not too much to the class except lectures, but they are pretty engaging and interesting, so that's good. 4 tests and a paper is all there is here. He notifies you of the paper on the first day of the semester, and you're given a wide range of options for the paper. Occasionally his lectures will drag on, but overall he's good.

Dr. Tucker is an extremely intelligent professor and really knows what he is talking about. I never missed one class the entire semester and thoroughly enjoyed attending each and every class. Granted attendance is necessary to do well in this class. There is a lot of note taking involved but it really pays off. If you show up for class and take down the notes you will do fine. Each test is 100 points and there is one research paper that you must write that has to be 7 to 10 pages. Each day there is a lecture that normally lasts the entire class period but Dr Tucker makes them so interesting that you really want to make sure that you pay attention. I would recommend this class to anyone even if you do not have an interest in politics. Prior to this class I was never into government but now I definitely am. I am even planning on talking his other course, public administration next semester. Take this class, you will not regret it!!!

Dr. Tucker is a great professor!! He is extremely intelligent and that is quite impressive to me. In his class you get a LOT of information every day so there are always pages upon pages of notes. He has published books, and essays in books, and has been on TV for debating-type things. To have a professor so involved in what he teaches is impressive. If you go to class and do your work and ask for help he is more than willing ot help you. The final is not cumulative so its only like another exam.

He gives a lot of extra credit. There is one paper but it's not bad at all. If you have the chance, take this class. You'll never look at the gov't or politice the same way again.

I really only missed 3 classes, two of which were because I was really sick. Dr. Tucker's classes are that good though. He's really entertaining and it makes the class really awesome. He's a really nice guy, I liked the class a lot and I am a political idiot. The tests weren't bad if you got the notes (there are lots) and if you skimmed the chapters (he follows the chapters closely). Little class projects, tests, quizzes, a paper, and attendance comprise the grade. Paper is really easy, don't put it off until the last minute though, you have the prompt since day one and if you give it to him awhile before he'll revise it for you so you can hand in an A. Take the class, you won't regret it.

It doesn't get any better than Dr. Tucker. He's keeps class interesting, and is always willing to answer questions. He truly knows his stuff too. He doesn't get up there and just repeat what you read in the book. His tests, however are fairly difficult. Although they are all multiple choice every single question is very in-depth, and that makes getting a good grade in his class laborious. Even after that is aaid, anytime you are taking a class that he is teaching, try your best to get it.

Ronnie Tucker is an amazing man. His class isn't exactly easy, but if you pay attention, show up, and review the notes, you have yourself an A. He loves involving students in the class, especially if you're in a responsive class. Lecture can sometimes be boring, but he'll repeat anything that you happen to miss and give you a smile while he does it. I did the paper the night before and still got an A on it, which was nice. All around wonderful professor. Oh, and ask him about Clarence Thomas, holy god he hates that man.

Ronnie Tucker is hands down the greatest man i have met on campus. He makes his class fun everyday and reminds me of Richard Prior. He tries to build a great relationship with his students. If you ever get the chance to take him for anything.... take him as many times as you can. The quizzes and tests (which come right outta the notes) are ALL multiple choice (maybe not the final i haven't gotten that far yet because i have him this semester) There is one paper (6-8 pgs) but it's so easy... its just a research paper which, if you have a brain, you should do well on.... Bottom Line... take this man and you'll never regret it.... P.S. ask him about his college experience and he'll go on forever.

Dr. Tucker is an incredible professor!! I failed Am. Gov. the first time around, and had no confidence going in to Dr. Tucker's class. He helped me to gain the confidence I needed, and I ended up doing well in his class. He is very involved with the class, and extremely thorough with his notes. If you ever have a question about what he is lecturing about, he will go back and help you to fill in the parts that you missed. He does a review every class of the previous notes, and has a wonderful review for tests/quizzes. If you pay attention, take notes, and read the book.. you'll do great. American Government is only a gen. ed. for me and it was my favorite class of the semester. Dr. Tucker is absolutely incredible as far as a professor and person goes. I would recommend for anyone to take him ~ you won't regret it!!

Dr. Tucker is a great prof. if you need help with your notes you can see him and he'll go over all of them with you to make sure you have everything that you need. He is a very personable person so it is easy to ask him questions. He is also funny and gives a lot of examples that you can remember w/out taking notes on. His exams and quizes are all multiple choice with the scantron. So, the are all easy as long as you study your notes and review your book to get a full understanding of what he talks about. He gives 2 quizes and 2 exams and the final and a paper. Which is not hard at all. I would recommend Dr. Tucker for everyone, b/c you actually learn something in his class!

Dr. Tucker is the best professor to have. If you are not a Political Science major and you need government class for a gen ed, take this guy. He will make learning about the government a fun experience. There are few tests and quizzes and one 6-8 page paper. Excellent professor!

This prof is one of the best on campus. He makes the class interesting enough to make you look forward to going to class. The tests are from the notes, and there is a paper.

Dr. Tucker is one of the most interesting profs on campus. You take alot of notes in this class, but he has the ability to make a subject that is normally bland to most people and make it very interesting. We had 3 exams, 2 quizes, and one 6-8 page paper. He grades very fair. He won't hurt your grade for poor grammer. If you go to this class you should be able to get a "B" with out studying.

I would definitely reccommend taking Dr Tucker for American Government. Pretty much all the notes from class will be on the test and skimming the book is enough prep for exams. There was only one paper (6-8 pages) and coming to class was fairly enjoyable.

After being mislead by recent posts regarding the record of Dr Tucker that this forum needs some updating, not to mention a reality check. First of all, the many comments above indicating that exams are all mutiple choice is incorrect. A small portion of the quizzes and exams are MC and the remainder are impossible essays. Prepare to hear the loudest sighs from your classmates you've ever heard each time the marks are handed back. Unless you relish lowering your GPA, make certain you do all the bonus work, because you're gonna need those points. If you are a student that likes to regurgitate fact after fact without understanding any of what you are spilling out then you'll likely do fine. But don't dare leave anything out when answering your essays or you'll be sadly disappointed. Dr Tucker grades not based upon understanding and application of his lecture material, rather how well you can recite the material in it's entirety. I'm not exagerating; to get an "A" on one of his exams you'd need to basically infringe upon the copyrights of his material and reduce yourself to plagiarizing. Lastly, don't ever question Dr Tucker and expect to get his cooperation or even a definative answer. He packpedals most questions asked (like a good politician) and will routinely make fun of those posing the toughest questions. The amount of disrespect he shows to some of his students is reminiscent of the actions of a bully or class clown. The university should be ashamed of the ridicule he inflicts upon his less witty students. If you display the least bit of weakness he will exploit it any way he can and make you the focus of every jab possible that he'll deliver in front of your entire class. This type of behavoir is not commendable and needs to be stopped. It takes but a short time in Dr Tuckers class to realize that he is more fixated on himself, the books he's written, and his obsession of affirmative action to ever be a truely effective professor. It is diffucult for any astute student to take this many seriously, that is, assuming they are able to survive the haze of bigotry that chokes the life right out of every lecture he gives. If you value your education, take the advice of a seasoned veteran. As a distinguished and accomplished upperclassman, I can honestly tell this is the worst excuse for a professor and professional I have yet to encounter at Shippensburg University.

If you want a good grade, take someone else. Tucker gives a lot of C's, but very few good grades. His tests are almost all essay and he grades them very hard. He is never around. His class is almost all lecture with some very stupid group projects intermixed. His lectures are terrible. He is all over the place and has a hard time staying focused. Very fast talker....we had to repeatedly ask him to slow down. Can't spell very well, yet takes off points for your spelling errors. Butchers the English language repeatedly and will often times just make up words that don't exist while lecturing. Will answer questions, but does a poor job and will usually talk his way out of answering them or give you a response that does not really answer your question. Stay away from this guy. He is nice, and if he likes you, you may do OK, but if you are not a suckup, you are not going to do very well in his classes. Take someone else, unless you like doing A work and getting C grades.

M/C tests, which mainly come from book and in-class lectures. 100 questions on each test plus 5 bonus questions. He lectures the entire class period. No major papers, group projects, or any other stuff like that. The only thing we had to write was to form your own political party, which was obviously fictitious. It was an easy four or five page paper about how your party feels on certain issues. No big deal with that at all. The tests were very hard, but if you studied the book and the lecture notes, they were cetainly passable. The extra-credit questions helped too. He is funny and tells jokes and stories. He never talks about what party he belongs to, but the way he slams the GOP, he's gotta be a Demorcrat. He does bust on the Clinton / Monica scandal, as well as Nixon's famous "I am not a crook" speech, but the way he repeatedly slams the GOP is uncalled for. By the end of the class, I was so sick and tired of his anti-GOP rhetoric that I didn't enjoy coming to his classes anymore. I expect professors to be a little more impartial than that. Even at a lib institution like Ship, profs need to at least appear to be impartial, even if they are not. [] Also, as mentioned by another poster, the guy trys to talk his way out of difficult questions. There were many occasions where he did this throughout the course. He also made several mistakes in his lectures that he got called on by other students, yet he refused to admit he was wrong, even when his own notes contradicted what he just said. Also, he tends to get sidetracked and talk about stuff that has nothing at all to do with the class, and this is an area that gets him way off base. [] Also, it was extremely painful sitting through an entire semester hearing a Political Science professor talk about the "ELECTORIAL" college. IT'S "ELECTORAL" DAMN IT!!

Alright. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Tucker is a great guy, he is funny too but... I really do not believe he is a very effective prof. I have had him for several classes, and he reteaches the same material over and over. Its pretty much all lectures, but he doesnt make you learn it. He isn't really knowledgable, he talks his way out of questions. If I was taking a low level poli sci course, take him, but if you really want to be prepared for harder pub admin/poli sci courses, I would suggest to avoid him. I didn't feel very prepared for the other profs in this major. Fox, Brasher and Frazier you will leave these classes truly learning your major. A positive attribute Dr. Tucker has is his past experiance working on a municipal council. The more I have Dr. Tucker, the less I like his teaching methods. His classes usually consist of 2 50 point quizes, and 3 100 pt. Tests, and a paper somewhere along the way. Again, great man, but don't expect to learn much.

Ok, this guy is hilarious. He is really funny and some of the stuff he says is great. His tests are hard as anything though. They are tricky and if you dont read the book then you might as well count on a C or D. Other than that you do a paper which he grades easy on, gives extra credit which is easy and classes are all lecture. He is cool, you learn a lot but if youre not up for hard tests then dont take him!

Dr. Tucker is a good teacher yet he is acually hard as hell. When I had him he tried to make what he was teaching somewhat interesting. Overall I enjoyed his class. As long as you listen to what he says and READ you will be fine. His tests are mulitple choice. So if you are good at those take his class!
