Dr. Z is the wackiest, nuttiest professor I've had. I know a lot of people complained about her and questioned her performance, but I don't believe she's nearly as bad as people made her out to be. Her classes were somewhat pointless especially when she rambled on about nonsensical stories or asking others about their day, but when there was focus, it was a productive experience. The project was a useful experience and I learned a lot about intervention strategies and how to implement them. I was also tremendously struggling with another course and Dr. Z helped me more than any other professor. Perhaps she'd be better suited for some kind of social work but she's a good professor. I can tell she's intelligent and experienced, if she would focus more on the material rather than personal anecdotes, she would truly be perfect.

Dr. Z is the best prof. that I have had at Shippensburg University. The only time classes were canceled were when she was at a conference, and we were always notified in advance. A great thing about Dr. Z is how many resources she gives you to learn from. If you don't learn what you need to learn in her class, it is your fault. She isn't dry or boring; she has a very exciting personality. She gives you random extra credit points for being in class on low attendance days and if it is a nice day outside, she'll let you out a few minutes early. Her assignments are easy, but you actually learn from them if you do them right. If you have the opportunity to take Dr. Z, do it! She's an excellent professor and she actually cares about her students!

Take what you read on this site with a grain of salt. Dr. Z. is a wonderful professor who cares deeply about her students. I had her for Exceptionalities and learned a great deal from her lectures, powerpoints, videos and class quizzes. She rarely canceled class and we had class discussions every class. I question the posts on this page and the integrity of the posters. Dr. Z.'s classes are meaningful and engaging. Take her courses if you want to learn a great deal about the experiences and knowledge you will need working with and for exceptional children.

Its true, she is a really easy professor, cancels class often, you really don't use the book, and most of the class is story time. However, I learned a lot about disabilities/exceptionalities. Honestly, it was nice to have a break from the typical power points, group circles, and dry lectures. She is funny and loud and I recommend her and the class.

Dr.Z is the best prof on campus. She is that smart that people don't understand her. This was the easiest class I ever took in my life, and I learned a lot of information regarding disabilities/exceptionalities. I would highly recommend Dr.Z to anyone who wants to have an awesome semester. She's really funny and there's no tests, no quizzes, just show up to class and watch her instructional videos and you'll be fine. Don't buy book-waste of money.

I had Dr. Zaccagnini for a summer class and she was not bad. I am interested in this topic so the class was interesting. We watched videos a lot and learned how to write IEP's. She is really amuzing in class and I didn't mind going there. During the summer we had group tests which were writing IEP's. She is a little spastic during class, but it makes her interesting because you never know what she is going to spaz out on next.

I took an online class with Dr. Z. Dr. Z is a nice person, but very confused when it comes to the rules of grammar and spelling. She often criticized me and my fellow students on spelling and grammar and we had to show her the rules to prove that it was in fact SHE that was incorrect. She would send us assignments but leave out certain things she was expecting, or tell us we missed an assignment when she had never actually given it to us. Her directions were so unclear that I would ask several times for clarification, not receive answers that helped, and go to my fellow students for help, where we would spend most of our time simply decoding her typing errors. Many of her emails to me were unprofessional and rude, to the point where they were bitchy. I am considering going somewhere else for my masters degree in special education just so I don't have to deal with her again.

Subject: Not worth it; take another professor  (Jan 25 2012, 12:30PM)

I honestly think that Dr. Zaccagnini is the worst professor I have had in my entire life. Usually a very nice person, but in no way fit to actually be teaching college students, much less anyone else. Don't get me wrong, she knows the material, but it is extremely hard to actually understand what is going on. She is easily distracted. And makes it known. Whenever there were any sounds coming from other rooms, she would comment on them. Even if she was in the middle of a sentence. Even if a student was in the middle of a sentence. She would stop class every single time. And don't even get me started on the sound of chairs scraping from above us. One time she even went up there to yell at them. It never stopped. She constantly loses anything you hand her. And then mysteriously finds it weeks later with a grade on top. Usually a perfect score. She speaks in a mumble and it is incredibly hard to hear anything she says. She does not follow her syllabus. AT ALL. Almost every single due date was changed. Some assignments were even canceled with one class's notice. Her powerpoints are disorganized and have a lot of blank space. She is utterly hopeless at technology. I'm pretty sure the VHS player was "broken" 5 times. We had to do a presentation on some kind of disorder for a grade. I legitimately spent time working on it and a powerpoint to go along and I submitted it at about 1AM, a full 10 hours before the deadline. She sent me a patronizing email saying that it was clear that I did not put much effort into the project. The next day in class I volunteered to present as one of the first few students. Naturally, the computer wasn't working, so my powerpoint was never even seen. She told me in class that my presentation was "lovely" a complete contradiction from what she had emailed me only hours earlier. She also never actually gave most of the class our take home final exam grades. They were supposed to be uploaded to D2L but they never appeared. I ended up getting a solid A in the class. But it was so frustrating being in that class. I honestly believe the only reason I made it through that class without killing someone was the friends that I made in that class. We sat at those groups of tables. People would text, talk, pretty much do anything, and she barely even noticed. You will probably get a good grade with Dr. Zaccagnini, but you will have to endure so much and be forced to jump through so many hoops to be able to come out alive. []

Where do I even start. How about the classes she came to drunk and stumbling all over the place. Or the tests that took 3 hours to complete and got handed back without ANY feedback. Or better yet the 3 hour long movies that you HAD to watch. Do yourself a favor and take someone else!

I want my money back. She was rarely there and when she did come it was stories about her. I didn't learn a thing and I felt sorry for the graduate assistant who always had to come and tell us class was cancelled. Zaccagnini, who was never there, would yell at you if you were one minute late to class. VERY, VERY unprofessional.

You will not learn anything in this class. She misses almost half the classes and when she is there she just rambles on about herself. I need to know about special ed but she didn't teach.

I feel very neutral towards Dr. Z. In respect to the class, it was easy, most days we just sit and listen to her talk. However, as a graduate student, I feel that I didn't get my money's worth out of the class. I didn't learn anything new or anything that I could really use. I felt rather cheated out of my money. So far she hasn't shown up for two classes, but instead gives us busy work to do with a group. Again, it's nice to have an easy class, but at the same time, if I'm paying almost $1200 for a class, then I want to get a good education out of it.
