Wow! This class was a killer. Super hard!!! Her tests were so hard. Her quizzes are so easy because they are open note! I found her notes to be a bit confusing at times so I always went back into my book and took my own notes so I could have a better understanding of things. She is very passionate and very funny! She is always there for her students. She obviously does not want you to fail. Her essay papers are easy to. Just read and take amazing notes and honestly you will be fine.

First off let me start by saying, I absolutely love dr. botteron. She's a very laid back, outgoing, funny and engaging professor. She's not one of those professors who talk at you but for the better talks to you and engages you in all of the class discussions. Her exams are a little tough, but what exams in college aren't challenging? Dr. Botteron makes you think for yourself. She doesn't sugar code anything and if you're wrong she'll tell you and steer you to the right path. This lady is far too intelligent to work at shippensburg but hey, they're more than lucky to have her. She inspired me to be much more than I truly am and I am grateful for that. I encourage you to take her, seriously!

Dr. Botteron is probably one of the most interesting and passionate professors you will ever get to have at this school. Her exams are very challenging, but as long as you come to class, pay attention and study, they really are not that bad. The knowledge you get from this class is worth the work, and she makes the subject matter interesting.

Dr. Botteron is an excellent teacher. Her lectures are engaging and really help you understand the concepts. It is not an easy course, but if you read, pay attention, and take good notes you'll be fine. She's very helpful and around whenever you need her. The Logic Exam at the end of the semester requires a lot of thought, but she prepares you for it very well. I came out of this course understanding political science better and am able to apply concepts from it to everyday life. I highly recommend taking this course with her.

Dr. Botteron is the most knowledgeable professor you could ask for when it comes to government/politics. She is probably the most intelligent professor I have had. Although the class is considerably difficult, she is very good at engaging the class and making Political Science very interesting to learn. If you want an easy class, don't take her, but if Political Science is your major or minor, you have to take her because she's the only one that teaches this course. I definitely recommend her!

Attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss one class you will be lost the rest of the semester. The logic exam was really hard, she gives it out like 3 weeks in advance and you can work with a partner, start working on it THE DAY she gives it to you. One book, with a debate. An article review due every week that is no more than one page, with a debate around the articles you've been reading the whole semester. Has office hours but there is always a line to see her and she's always crazy busy. But she'll help you if you're really having problems. She is probably the coolest professor you've ever seen and is, by far, the most intelligent person I have ever met in my life. Take this class! It's worth it. But I guarantee you will hate logic the rest of your life.

Dr. B is such a friendly person and her class is extremely interesting. She generally cares so much about all her students and wants everyone to do well. This class is very difficult because it requires application of concepts, but she will do anything to help you. Her drawings are hilarious and class time is fun. The tests are very hard but if you review your notes and understand the concepts you should be fine. Take this class if you want the nicest and funniest professor at ship.

Dr. B is really... enthusiastic. If you want an easy class- DON'T take her. Period. She has insanely hard tests. Like- fo' real homes. She's a tough prof, but it's totally worth it to take her, especially if you're interested in the course material. She’s totally awesome and really fun. Don’t miss class- I don’t know why you would because she’s always so much fun! I had her for two classes (I came back for more torture).
International (gen ed)-During the class, she focused mostly on theory. Lots of theory, then the tests were application so it was really tough. But the test review was all application so it shouldn’t be unexpected and if someone had trouble understanding the review she has office hours. GO TO THEM. She literally tells you the best way to study and test taking strategy to use. I’m sure that the people on here who did badly and don’t like her is because they didn’t see her in her office. Either way- she definitely knows what she’s talking about. Three tests, two papers, but they’re easy. There was a mock UN project (really fun) and also a small group project (also really fun- if you want it to be). There’s also a book that was really interesting even if you don’t care about politics and a paper on it. Take this class if you have even the slightest interest in politics... or just to see her drawings, they’re famous.
Intro Poli Sci (for majors)-Class is completely different from Internatl, she’s still really enthusiastic, even about using logic. Lots and lots of Logic. The first test is take-home (logic test) and there’s a debate which is a huge part of the grade. But relax- even if you’re not a debate person, there are 4 people on your team and only two of them talk in the debate. There’s a one page paper due every Friday that’s an article review, bullet points, easy. And a paper on a book- it’s meant to be argumentative. She likes challenging your point of view, or just making you think instead of just nodding along.
In short- if you want an easy ride, there are other profs. If you want to learn, take Dr. B.

This woman is my hero... sure, the class was a bit difficult but as long as you go to class (SERIOUSLY... GO), ask questions, and possibly look over your notes a few days before the test... you're golden. She is a professor I would take again and again if I could.

Dr. Botteron is outstanding! I've had her for three classes now, and I would not rather ever not take another class unless it was with her. She is amazing. The material is amazing. Her exams are very hard, but if you get it - and if you don't (jesus just drop her class otherwise) you are going to get, at the highest, a (C). Good luck...she is amazing!

Dr. Botteron is a very beautiful woman. She is very funny, emotional, and swears a good bit. Her tests are hard, but take very thorough notes. Go from the board and what she says. She gives very simple, simple small quizzes. Her writing assignments are very short and fairly easy. However, she gives 3 tests. The first one is a breeze. The second one is tough. And, the third one is just as tough. There is no FINAL though. If you are stuck during a test, just raise your hand and ask. Swallow your pride, and you will get the "needed help" that you seek. That being said, I'd definitely take her again. Don't expect an A though.

Well the title pretty much explains it all I guess. Botteron is beyond funny, and she loves to talk and get students involved. Overall her class is easy except for her exams... omg, I would study for 4 hours for one, then not study at all and get pretty much the same grade. Being an international studies minor I know that I'm going to go out of my way to have Botteron again. The reading was light and almost never any homework. She mostly has a lot of quizes on her notes and the readings and they're easy. As for her notes, wait till you see her attemps at drawing.

Cynthia is an amazing person and an even more graceful and amazing teacher! Her class was difficult, but the value, regarding education, that I aquired from her class was outstanding. Her midterm and final were difficult, but if you do the questions she gives you, and you think about them, you should be fine. And if you do not understand the homework, than ask her for clarification. Otherwise, you might have a very rough time in her class. It also helps to be a little liberal when taking her class; she tends to often drift, heavily, although not to infer that its a bad thing, towards liberal view points. Dig? She's an awesome teacher - I'm taking her for every class I can.

Dr. Botteron is without a doubt one of the greatest professors at this university, if not the best. She is one of the few professors in political science who actually encourages and requires you to think for yourself while not putting you down for "thinking the wrong way"--regardles of how radical your ideas may be. (unlike some other profs) She is by far the most open and non-discriminating prof here. So long as you can make a well thought argument to solidly back up your beliefs, you'll have a great time in her classes. Additionally, she's funnier than Jon Stewart. You'll find yourself going to class in anticipation of all the little witty things she might do. And alot of times, she cracks jokes around difficult concepts which makes them alot easier to remember later. If you do have a problem, she is always around and is more than happy to kick back and talk with you for... hours really. I was in her office once going over a paper for about 2 hours and it felt like twenty minutes. Her classes are absolutely amazing. You will learn more from her than you've probably learned from most of your classes combined. And by forcing you to apply the material, what you learn stays with you. Her classes are challenging, but if you're here to learn this stuff, she's the person to take! Furthermore, if you are interested at all in the subject of the class, you will love her term paper assignments. They are really open ended, and you can really develop your theories about politics into a nice metaphysic if stick with it and I found both my papers really enjoyable to write. Take her whenever you can. Hell, I'd take her again for a class on toilet scrubbing if she taught it!

Very Knowledgeable. Do your work and participate, and you'll get a decent grade. She's actually really interesting/understanding and continues to be one of my favorite prof's at Ship...She's also a lot younger so she tends to relate well to the students. I would definitely take her for a third class...

If you do not beleive you should be challenged at college, do not take Dr. Botteron. She is difficult, but you will never learn more from a professor. I am so tired of hearing students whine about taking her because she is difficult I could vomit. College is supposed to be hard, if it wasn't it would have to be called something else, like a waste of time.

I had Dr. Botteron at 9 in the morning... even though we were learning about politics, she made it interesting. She is one of the nicest profs I have had here. She will do anything to make sure you understand the material and that you do well in her class. You have to do the work, and go to class to get the grade...but she is really willing to help you out. She is a little goofy, but that's what makes the class bearable. I actually found myself learning and thinking for myself about politics when I knew nothing about it before. I would definitly take her again. Just don't take her if you want an easy ride.

Dr. Botteron is a little (well maybe alot) nervous and jittery, and she can sometimes be quite scatterbrained, but she does try to teach. Her classes are generally interesting and the projects and tests are not hard. One oral presentation (debate) was required, but it was cake. Advice to students: Go to class, study for the exams, do the projects and homework. What else is there? You'll get an "A". Advice to the Prof: Lay off the coffee! Chill.

Honestly, if you're looking for a professor to take that is easy, don't take Dr. Botteron. She actually makes you think for yourself. If you don't like doing that, don't take her. If you actually want to improve your ability to work with difficult materials (like you might in grad school or on the job), take her. She teaches you (not tells you) how to put the facts together, not what the facts are. The facts are up to you to find. But if you're struggling in her class, don't worry. Just stop by her office and ask questions. She loves to answer questions from what I've seen. If you don't want to read difficult material and work with political theories, don't waste your time and don't waste her time.

despite the fact that i had her class at 8am i still rarely skipped- partially because she covers a lot of material in one class and partially because i actually enjoyed her lecture. she is so passionate about her lecture even though american politics isn't her specialty. i really appreciated the fact that she didn't teach with any apathy or indifferece, but instead made you feel involved. she tries to encourage class participation. her tests can be pretty diffecult, but she curves a lot. if you have any interest in politics you will love the discussion and topics of this class and if you have no interest in it then at least she'll keep you awake with her animated lecture!

This class is impossible. Botteron is always willing to help, but her exams are extremely hard. It doesn't help studying your ass off. The class average was never higher than a 70. There's only 3 exams but if you bomb all of them you're bound to fail the class like I almost did. This class only causes you to worry because of how hard it is.

She's really a nice lady, but MAN! Were those classes boring? I think I'd rather slowly rip my entire nails off than sit through those lectures. You can understand the concept she's trying to get across in the beginning of the class, but then she keeps babbling about it until you won't remember who your mother is. It's pretty painful.

Dr. Botteron was an amazing professor. The way she teaches makes you more interested in the material. She is VERY FUNNY and I couldn't imagine anyone disliking her. She is very quirky and high spirited. She also has many interesting stories that she tells in class. Debates and discussions are also fun..she always gets carried away. This class was extremely hard for me. The subject was interesting but extremely challenging. The papers and exams are difficult and sometimes its hard to follow to in class. However, Dr. Botteron is easy to approach and she genuinely wants to help. Be careful when choosing this class..its hard, but it was very fun!
