I would agree that the class that she is teaching is packed with folks. She didn't get much time to plan for this class before she was asked if she would teach it but it hasn't been bad- as a matter of fact, the outline of the course is ok. I have been able to use some of the examples she has given us and apply it to my own classroom. As for the other response, she has been less than effective at times but heck, the room is totally packed and to get everyone to be active is not even possible. She is flexible and fair and seems to enjoy teaching...even if it is not her typical course!

Dr. Malmont is a wonderful person... she tries to tell jokes, smiles continually, and tries to make class enjoyable. Many people see her as ineffective, and I too have seen this throughout the semester. However, from what I see she is just overwhelmed most of the time. If you look at the larger picture, she is teaching classes she has never taught before, and taking on large amounts of students so everyone can get into the classes they need. The class I took with her she could have easily kicked 10 people out for being over the capped limit, but she was considerate and left them stay. This does pose to be a disadvantage as she then needs to accommodate those extra students. I liked Dr. Malmont because she came across as a real person, rather then preaching how she feels everything should be. She was also warm and understanding of students' needs.

The neg. comment is someone who must have slept in class- she not only had a class that seemed to not contribute much but she would use a variety of resources to get them to do the work. I would say if you paid any attention, you would have walked away learning many things- I am glad we learned more about LFS.

Dr. Malmont runs a very relaxed class. Her stories and suggestions are so helpful and as a student teacher I am reminded of how much information I used that came from her class. Take her if you can. It is worth it

Yeah it is a super easy class but she does teach you a lot. Plus the book is great! Tests are super simple directly out of the text either take home, open book or regular but she always gives you a study guide which is the test basically. Dr. Malmont was great. My problem is with the day in school! It was a disaster!! My teacher was out the first day, unavailable until a few days before the second, and rude when we showed up and she obviously didnt get a memo or read the emails we sent about us coming that day. Very stressful but I guess it was an eye opener.

Dr. Malmont will go out on a limb for you. She does teach us a lot of things you will need for your classroom, I know I student taught and realized that what she had covered WAS very helpful. Her powerpoints may seem like they won't help at times, but hey I did go back and look at them when I was student teaching

Dr. Malmont is a wonderful professor! She is kind, funny, caring and a good teacher. Yes, her class was easy, but that doesn't mean we didn't learn. I think we learned a lot from her experiences and from our time at the elementary school (even though I'm secondary ed). And yes, we did a lot of 'silly' things in class, but it was fun and made everyone more relaxed. I absolutely recommend her to anyone. :)

Prof. Malmont is a very sincere person. She cares about her students. SHe will go the extra mile to work with you after class. The research project is the most difficult assignment, but the day in school is the most disappointing. She is not at fault, the school didnt really welcome students like I thought they would

This was an easy class. As long as you did the work she asked you did fine in class. The tests were not hard and there were a lot of group quizzes. She does not check attendence.

TAKE HER FOR EVERTHING YOU CAN!!! She is the best professor I have had here. She really knows her stuff and makes the class very fun. She is available whenever you need her and will honestly help you with anything you need. Malmont teaches you more then what is in the book, but what you REALLY NEED TO KNOW. The class is easy if you do the assignments. TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!

The class was easy, a lot of work, but easy. I literally feel like I took nothing away from this class. The only benefit of the course is that it fulfills a requirement for education majors. She never returned work and her powerpoints were terrible-- if there was any good information in them, she went too fast. Not that it matters since it wasn't important for the tests.

Now, Dr. Malmont ran a very easy class. If you want to get an easy A, take her! But I warn you, you will learn nothing. She never teaches you how to write a lesson plan, but expects you to just KNOW how to write one for the Day in School. She does not cover any of the material in the book. Her tests are a joke. I feel so unprepared to take the second set of Praxis exams because the vital things she should have taught will be on there & I never learned them. She is very unclear on due dates & just expects you to know when they're due. We got no assignments back the whole semester. She waited until finals week to hand everything back, even from the first week of class. She planned on using a sign-in folder for attendence but only used it once & did not keep attendence all semester. Her powerpoints were worthless & had nothing to do with the textbook or teaching. Mostly they were quotes & funny pictures of animals. Her whole class is spent talking & laughing, as she easily gets off the subject & distracted. I actually wanted to learn something about the course & was very disappointed I did not get that chance. Most of our class weren't even Elementary, they were secondary Ed but she made us sing & dance along with kids songs. I thought it was humiliating.

Dr. Malmont is extremely nice and laid back. However, I feel like I am walking away learning nothing except how to write a lesson plan. There were at least 4 canceled classes. We never took an actual test. We had to create our own tests for each one. As for assignments: 4 article reflections, Day in School, classroom rules/procedures, and a sponge activity at the end (actually pretty fun and useful). I really liked the class and Dr. Malmont, but I don't feel I learned anything.
