Dr. Hamblin is very good at presenting the subject matter to the class. He gives very good, very detailed examples and even provides tangibles to aid in understanding and try to make the class more interesting. His test questions were all fair, but the first test required about 20 minutes more to do than we had in the 50 minute class, so work fast. He did not tell us that he was looking for proofs in the homework until after I got a few back with a lot of points taken off. The questions only asked for the answer, but he was also looking for a proof. That little tidbit would have been nice to know. The group project was the worst part of the class. The project was very difficult, but the rest of the class was alright.

Funny and very effective professor. This guy explains everything perfectly with detail. He will make sure you get it and if you don't, he will help you. He has three exams and a whole bunch of quizzes. As long as you go to class, you will get an good grade. He also has funny jokes sometimes that make you laugh. Great guy. Take him.

Dr. Hamblin is an extremely effective professor. He does not take the "do your work and I'll tell you what you did wrong" approach that many math teachers do. Hamblin explains everything thoroughly and takes it stepbystep. Granted, this may be different in another class, but he was extremely effective at getting students to learn the material. The mathematical labs he gives out are good grade boosters, plus he basically gives you the answers if you take it to him with questions. Overall it was a great experience.

Dr. Hamblin is a very effective professor. He makes sure everyone in the class understands even the simplest of concepts before moving on. He has a quiz every week which are open note and if you attend class and take the notes, you should ace them all. He gives out "cheat sheets" with formulas on them for exams. He truly wants everyone to ace his class. Plus, he is a very nice guy and almost always available. NonMath majors who need some math credits should definitely take him. Just go to class and you should get an A or B.

Dr. Hamblin was very effective at teaching this course. I definitely did not need the book largely due to the fact that I find it hard to teach myself math and I am terrible at most math. This is a fun and practical math class and Dr. Hamblin is one of the few professors who knows how to teach. Take this professor.

I am incredibly bad with math and I was able to pass this class. Dr. Hamblin basically taught like it was calculus for dumbies. He offers SI sessions for people that are struggling and he is always available for further help. He gives a quiz every week that you can use your notebook for, with 3 easy problems and most of the time, 2 of them are directly from the homework. You'll fail his tests if you don't go to class, study or do your homework. So as long as you do what you're supposed to do, you will definitely pass.

Hamblin was awesome. He took forever to explain the subject, but he made sure you understood it. As long as you do your homework you'll do fine on the tests. He was good at explaining the math so you could apply it to the word problems.

First, I had this man at 8 in the morning and I WANTED to go to class each day! He's absolutely hilarious and makes class fun! His class isn't hard if you make the effort. He gives quizzes every friday, but you can use your notes so its an easy grade. His exams aren't too bad, and the final is cumulative but wasn't hard at all. I'd definitely recommend this professor to anyone! One of my favorites!

Great prof! Gave tons of examples, always available to answer questions, and had open note quizzes. His exams were difficult so find someone to study with and go to the SI sessions. Be ready to read the book and teach yourself some of the material that you don't figure out on first glance in class. Above all do the homework! Come to class for the notes because otherwise you will be stuck reading the book which may not have some examples that you need to know. Funny guy with a strange sense of humor. Take him esp if youre a math major or comp sci.

I remember, taking Geometry back in high school, how incredibly hard it was. I remember spending hours trying to memorize the theorums and hours figuring out how to solve proofs. But while taking Hamblin's class, it was a breeze. The detailed and careful way he goes over various proofs in class makes you develop such a familiarity with the subject that it makes studying almost unnecessary. The homework he assigns is pretty easy and as long as you've paid attention in class and done the homework, the tests are a breeze...not because they are easy but because you've learnt and you understand the material. Take this guy every chance you get!

Dr.Hamblin was a great professor. He has quizzes every Friday and 3 tests and a final. The good part about his class is that the homework is not graded. Also, we had SI sessions that were very useful and he gave extra credit for attending them. I would recommend him for this class.

Found him to be one of the most "professional" profs I've had. He was always on time for class, was very patient with questions in class, etc. If you're struggling with the material, go see him he's a really nice guy who wants you to do well. However, don't blow off the homework if you want to get a decent grade on his quizzes and exams. Take him if you can you won't regret it!

Dr. Hamblin is definitely a solid professor. This coming from a person who is not talented in math says a lot. He is extremely thorough and involves the ENTIRE class in his lectures. By frequently pausing and asking for questions, Dr. Hamblin ensures that everyone understands the subject material. He does go a bit fast at times, but he has no problem slowing down if asked. Also, take advantage of his office hours, he will spend as much time as needed with you. Be warned though, you must do your outside work to be successful in his class. If you put the effort forth, you cannot go wrong with Dr. Hamblin. In fact, I am willing to say that he is the best math professor I have had in a very, very long time. I wish him the best of luck here at Ship and hope that his other students understand how much of an asset he is to the math department and university as a whole.

Dr. Hamblin is always there if you need any help. He is an easygoing teacher. He gives quizzes every Friday but they usually only involve two questions and are very easy. His tests usually only consist of 7 problems and are pretty easy. Dr. Hamblin is able to explain concepts so you can easily understand them. You're def. missing out if you don't take him as a teacher.

Dr. Hamblin is always around and willing to answer questions. He will get to know you, he wants to be able to call everybody by their name. I have him this semester again for the thrid time in two years. He makes class interesting, you work in groups, not just continuously by yourself.

Dr. Hamblin is a really good teacher. His class involves a lot of group work, which helps. I felt comfortable asking him questions about anything. He does not make you feel stupid like some math professors would. He was always available during his office hours and always willing to help you. I will take him again if I get the chance.

Dr. Hamblin represents all that a professor should be. He is a superb lecturer, a kindhearted person, and a brilliant mathematician. I was struggling with the course early on, and I approached Dr. Hamblin for help. He had the patience of Job, and he really stuck with me until I figured it all out. In fact, he was so helpful that I ended up pulling an A minus in the course!
I hope that Dr. Hamblin will stick around this school and will end up with tenure. It is his excellence that allowed me to grasp my own future in math. Thank you so much, Dr. Hamblin! Best of luck for a long, successful future here at Ship!

Dr. Hamblin has the patience of a saint. I wasn't doing that great in his class, so I was constantly in his office getting help. And he was more than willing to help me and I wound up with a B. I could see him getting a little frustrated with me, but he has more patience and I really apreciated that.

Dr. Hamblin is an outstanding professor. He is only in his first year of teaching at Ship and he already has a knack for it. He is VERY thorough, and always checks to be sure the whole class is understanding the material. Calc II is not an easy course, but Dr. Hamblin does everything he can to make it understandable. His tests are hard, but he lets you bring in one index card with formulas. He's kind of nerdy, but he cracks a lot of jokes and makes calculus as interesting as it can be. Sometimes he tends to rush, but as long as you let him know he's going too fast he'll slow down and give everyone a chance to catch up. He's always available for help and even offers a little extra credit now and then. If you're serious about math, take this prof!
