You will be happy when you finish this class. Not when you take it. Dr. M fills every class with so much that you feel totally behind. Then it is over and you realize how good he was. Everything he says comes true. You are prepared for everything. Sitting down with him is a treat because he knows what it is like to work in the real world. Take him... you will not be sorry.

This class was no joke, and a lot of people did fail. But I have to admit that I learned more in this class then I did in ANY of my other basic mgmt courses. Not only could you NOT fall asleep in this class because Shelly kept you wide awake, but I never really wanted to. When I got my job offer I didn't know what I was looking at (insurance, benefits, etc) Shelly sat down with me one evening and told me what I should go in asking for, salary wise, and what everything meant. I went into my meeting and got everything I asked for, and more. I have been extremely successful at my job that I am currently in (which is my dream job right out of college) and I don't believe I would be doing so well if it was not for this man, and this class. Take him if you actually want to learn, and if you actually want to be successful in life!!

Dr. Morrisette is not like any teacher at Ship. Students should dropin on his class just to see how great classes can be. He is the most interesting teacher I have ever had. He also will help you out on homework and projects. He makes students drop by his office so that he can make sure that you are keeping up with the class. You learn so much because he demands so much and you do not want to disappoint him. Take him he is really great.

Shelley is demanding, will expect you to be prepared, and grades tough. These are, however, minimum standards for an MBA program. Shelley can intimidate with his occasional "call to attention", but if you have ever held a responsible position of management it is no worse than anything you would have experienced in the job market. Shelley is also available in every way to answer questions, so take full advantage. DON'T BE UNDERPREPARED!

Dr. Morrisette is hard. And he can be sarcastic, but he is just trying to get the best out of his students. I had him for all 4 entrepreneurship classes and he was never boring. I always liked his classes. Even if I hated the work needed to pass them. The one thing Dr. Morrisette is obsessed about is doing good work. He expects a lot out of the entrepreneurship majors, but he will help you. Right now I feel great about finishing with an entrepreneurship degree. I know that I can stand up to anything. I know that some day I will start my own business and I will be successful. I owe that to Dr. M. He worked me to death, but now I know what I can do. There is not another teacher at Ship who gets as much out of students as he does. And you have some fun too.

Dr. Morrisette is scary. He intimidates everyone because he has run businesses. His class is not like any at Ship. He yells. He kicked a student out of class for not being prepared. He holds everyone to a high standard. But he will help you. He will read papers over for you and tell you what you need to do to get a better grade. And he will do it as often as you want. His lectures are always interesting, but sometimes I cannot understand them because he brings in so much. But he does not take himself seriously and will joke around. I have learned more in his class than all of my business classes combined. Take him just for the experience of being challenged.

Subject: Not fun, but you learn something  (Nov 22 2005, 06:48AM)

This guy knows his stuff. He will goof around some, but he is really there to get you to learn. He does not do dumb little acts like videos or group tasks. He treats class time like a business meeting. And he is all business. If you are not prepared for class he will make you look like an idiot. And he can do it. That is the bad news. The good news is, Dr. Morrisette was an executive and started his own business. He knows how things are. He does not make you do busy work. He works you on cases and cases and more cases. He shows you how you need to think, how to value companies, how to make a deal. He has a business plan for a project. It is hard as hell. He edits it at least twice and he can be brutal. But when it is over it looks pretty good. TAKE THIS PROF IF YOU WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING. He will pull lots of stuff into his class. He is not a quite nice guy, but he will help you if you need it. If you are going to be in class you might as well learn something.

Subject: The Best Teacher at Ship  (Nov 21 2005, 01:46PM)

Class:Entrepreneurship (B+)

There is no doubt about it, this guy is the best teacher at Ship. He can teach finance better than all the finance faculty. He can teach marketing better than the marketing department. You will learn so much from this class. He can be a jerk. Half the class dropped. But he helps you see how things work. He will make your life miserable if you are not prepared for class, but at least the class is worth getting ready for.

Subject: Hard class, but the guy can throw a party  (Nov 22 2003, 12:55AM)
Student: Anonymous (management)
Class:Entrepreneurship (B+)
12 of 37 students found this review helpful.

Entrepreneurship is a hard class because of the business plan. It is hard to find a good business to start and 40% of the final grade is the business plan. He makes you do all the work, but he will read your drafts and help you. So the class is tough, but he is a good guy and you will learn so much. He throws a party for students and faculty that you do not want to miss. The students had a great time and he has the best pool table in town. Take the class if you are interested in starting your own business or you want to learn how to run a business, but expect to work.

First of all he acts like he is a real hard ass. And he can be. He makes you do cases and he calls on you in class, so you must be prepared. Only one test a final exam that is open book. But the hard part of the class is the business plan. It is really hard. But you learn how it really is. Shelley has started a business and he knows how it really works. He explains it to you, but he also expects a lot from you and he will let you know if you are wrong. The great thing about the class is you learn what it takes to start your own business. The bad thing is it takes a lot of work.

Ok Shelly as he likes to go by is a great teacher. He comes across as a hard ass but his bark is worse than his bite. His class basically revolves around reading the chapters answering questions in class and 1 research paper and an open book final. It's not that easy but it's not impossible. Attendance is very important... it will lower your grade more than a bad grade on your final. He has great real world experience and he's a pretty cool guy. He'll tell you that some of you will fail but I doubt anyone actually could. Unless you don't show up for class.

Very knowledable. Just can't communicate with students, and refuses to communicate expectations with students. Says there will be three questions on final, then puts four. Says to study a certain formula for use on one of the problems on the final, then asks for something completely different. Criticizes students and professors for lack of knowledge. Expects students to know things not covered in previous course work, even though he says it 'should be'. Again, definitely knows a lot, but is just a terrible teacher.
