Dr. B is one of the best professors you will ever have. This man is super intelligent and absolutely one of the sharpest people you will ever meet. He is smart, funny, and always willing to assist. He expects a lot out of you, and you will want to work hard in his class....because he treats you as an intelligent individual...an adult. The material he presents is difficult, but keep up with the homework, put some time and effort into preparing for the class and you will do just fine. Drink in his knowledge!!!!

Dr. Bitner was a decent professor. Only a few exams which require a lot of studying but you have excel projects which really help your grade. Dr. Bitner is a super nice guy also. Make sure you pay attention all year long because the final is cumulative. Overall decent professor though.

LN Bitner (as he labels his name on the handouts) was probably the best accounting professor I've had so far at SHIP. His tests are not as bad as people say they are...they are all problems and they are fairly easy if you study his example problems that he goes over in class. The one test had 3 problems and was worth 100 points, I studied the example problems over and over and over again and I ended up getting a 95 on it. Also he has you do a few Excel projects which are ridiculously easy if you just ask him questions. Plus he gives you redo's, and when he gives back the original and its wrong he tells you exactly what you need to fix, so it's almost impossible to get less than a 90 on the Excels. Accounting is not easy, but Bitner made it easy. Take him if you get the chance!!

He is probably one of the best teachers Shippensburg has to offer. The material is hard, the tests are hard, but he explains everything so there should be no suprises if you listen. He is always available and very easy to talk to. Bottom line: If you put in the effort and try, you will get along and he will make class as enjoyable as possible

Dr. Bitner teaches a great accounting class. His class was absolutely awesome and I actually did learn a lot not that it showed on the final. If you need help he will not turn you down and the Excels, fondly called XL's, are a great grade booster and if you need help he is more than willing to answer your questions and point you in the right direction!

I hate accounting, but I LOVE dr. bitner! I went into the final with a D and ended up with a C+ in the class. his tests are hard and the final is comprehensive, definitely tough... but he is a good guy and helps you out if you improve throughout the class! Definitely take him... and if you try, you can do well even if you arent an accounting person!

Bitner's class was really difficult. You have to design 4 excel templates that are very time consuming and difficult to figure out. You use them on the final which is impossible. Your best bet is to do good on the other 3 tests and not even study for the final because youre not going to pass it. If you go to his office he will give you all the help you need though. Take him but prepare for work!

Although the class is somewhat difficult, he is incredibly nice and always willing to help. His exams consist of only 3 problems, which are tougher than the homework, but just be sure to get the tests from somebody who already had him. I highly recommend.

Dr. Bitner is the man. Yea so his tests are really hard but he gives you a lot of partial credit. Also, you can use the paper and computer projects to really boost your grade. You have to try hard to not get the C you need in his class.

I'm a hard worker especially when it comes to accounting. I was expecting at least a B in this class, but many of his test questions are nothing you learn during class. He intentionally likes to trick you in his exams. I put in hours upon hours to study for his tests and struggled significantly. I ended up doing well on the last exam and okay on the final, but his class made me feel dumb, I had to constantly remind myself it was his method of teaching and not my intellectual abilities. Horrible teacher. I strongly recommend to never take him.

I took this class and it is HARD... if you are not good at accounting then you are going to feel lost in this class. He thinks you remember everything from previous accounting. He will make you do the questions in the back of the book and give you quiz questions. Tests are harder than any question he gives you so you have to study everything and know how to do it all. But he grades easy so if you can just get the concept down you can get a B on the test. I dropped out of the class because it was taking away from my other classes because of the study times. But if you have a easy schedule and are willing to study a lot on your own take him cuz he does grade easy you can get every question wrong and probably still get a B if you did it at least half right.

I have never, ever been so lost in a class in my life, like I was in this one. Bitner assumes you remember everything from managerial, so he flies through the material. Also, he says his tests are like the homework problems....f*cken bullshit. If the tests even resembled the hw problems, I wouldn't be sitting during his exams with my head up my ass. The exams are misleading and tricky....the only thing good about them is he gives lots of partial credit. I felt retarded everyday leaving his class.

Managerial accounting is a hard class in itself. Bitner is hard because wants you to learn this material NOT remember it step by step from homework. So you have to take your study approach differently. His tests are hard but he gives you tons of credit for getting the concepts right. A tip for you in his class is to read the chapter ahead of time and his test will be similar to homework but he will make you think about them. He wont make it just like homework.

Dr. Bitner is a fun guy and I laughed in nearly all his classes but it was so impossibly hard. The subject matter is challanging to start with and then he teaches everything his own way so if you dont get it dont try to look in the text book for help. Exams leave you feeling as though you are a retard. He does give partial credit which does keep you from getting a flat out 0. The only encouraging thing is getting 100s on excels. The paper is hard and he doesnt clearly go over what he wants from you. All in all, Dr. Bitner is a good guy with jokes and so much knowledge-but soooo hard. Good luck.

Dr. Bitner is a good accounting teacher as long as you are interested in accounting. His class is hard because he expects you to know all the basics (which you probably forgot over summer or winter break). I had to go to the tutor a lot just to figure out the shortcuts Dr. Bitner was explaining. From what I hear, he is better than Bardo. Everyone says his final is hell, but as long as you look over past exams, you should do well on the final. Take him and participate and ask questions, you should pass without a problem.

It is hard for me to rate this prof. He is such a nice guy, is always willing to help, and is funny in class. However, this class was extremely hard for me. Cost expands on managerial and when you have a prof for managerial that doesn't teach the same way as Bitner, it is hard to pick up where your managerial prof. left off b/c teaching styles are so different. His exams are 3 or 4 problems that are extremely detailed. He gives a ton of partial credit for attempting the problems and appearing like you get the concepts. There are 3 Exams each worth 15%, excel spreadsheet homeworks (easy and lets you do redos) 15%, a paper that sucks (extremely boring to sift through accounting documents to find what you need) 15%, and a Cummulative final worth 25%. I had him on Tues./Thurs. and classes usually went Tues, we would go over a new concept, do a demo problem and then thurs. you go over all the homework he assigns. The homeworks are almost impossible to do ahead of time b/c you haven't seen anything like it yet and he wants you to have them done before class. He calls on you at least once a day and it's frustrating b/c at times I didn't even know what point he was trying to get me to answer. If you liked Managerial then you'll prob. like Bitner's class, but I hated managerial and I hate cost even more. The grades on the exams range from 40% to 90%. I'm told that he doesn't always give you the calculated grade....he rounds up in a big way at the end of the semester. I still have the final left to take but I have managed to get an 87% up to this point. Bitner is a great guy, but this class seemed like it was harder than it had to be. (he lets you keep your tests so try to get them from someone to study from).

Positives: Overall nice guy, gives you as much time as you need on tests, always willing to help you. Negatives: Makes you feel stupid if you don't understand something, expects you to be an expert at accounting, makes you sign a stupid contract, confuses you in class, doesn't give any credit for attendence. First of all, the contract he makes you sign is really dumb. It's an agreement not to ask him certain questions, like what you need to do for a certain grade. Secondly, I don't think there was ever a moment in class where I wasn't lost. And I came to every class, paid attention, and read every chapter before coming to class. I really don't understand why so many people give this guy positive comments. He's ok, but he does not deserve that much credit.

Dr. Bitner's a really nice guy. But his class was pretty tough. If you want to do well, you have to read the chapters and do the homework. His tests are similar to the homework questions, but not exactly like them. His final was comprehensive and freakin' impossible!! Good luck with that. He gives pop quizzes too, but not many.

I must say that I have never been more lost in a class, than I was here. The tests were usually just 2 or 3 large questions. Luckily he gave a lot of partial credit. I don't think I ever got a problem right, but I knew enough to get a B in the course. Also there were a lot of computer projects but he told you exactly what he wanted.
