Professor Dade is great. He really knows his stuff and is extremely nice. He is so helpful and is usually available. I didn't really learn that much in class because there are 15 people trying to play a keyboard at the same time as you which makes it difficult (at least for me) to follow whats going on.. However, if you go to Professor Dade's office hours and get one on one help with him, you will be very happy. He is the best professor I've ever had when it comes to face time learning. I wouldn't call the class an easy A but if you put in a decent amount of effort on your own, Professor Dade will work with you until you get it.

He is fairly easy as long as you listen to the music, go to two concerts and read the end of the chapter you're good. I had him at night so it dragged a bit. He gives a lot of extra credit which is great. But all and all he was great I would take him again no question...

Mr. Dade is a great professor who goes out of his way to make sure you do well. He will usual dismiss class early and shows youtube videos to help with the material. You will cover classical music thru modern and have 4 tests including a non-cumulative final. There are lots of opportunities for extra credit, including attendance. You are required to attend 3 concerts during the semester, but they are usually free and on campus. Bottom line, Mr. Dade will help you learn about music, makes class interesting, is a nice guy, and you can easily get an A if you apply yourself moderately. Take him, I hope he stays at Ship for a long time to come.

Prof. Dade is a really great teacher. I've been in my school band since 4th grade, and he taught me things I'd never learned before. He is a very nice guy, who will help out if you don't understand anything. He is a very fair teacher, and if you get him laughing, he can make the class a great time.

Mr. Dade is a very easy teacher... his tests are really easy and he is always giving out HW that you get perfects on. You only have to go to 3 concerts and write one concert review... you go to 2 extra credit performances. Loves what he does and is very good at it. I had class from 2-3:15 and we always got out at around 2:55 so we were never in there for the full time.

Professor Dade is really great. He teaches the class as a Gen.Ed. He knows a lot of people don't know much about music, but he still is passionate about it. We had 3 very easy multiple choice exams, and 4 simple 15 point quizzes. There were 8 small ten-point assignments that take no time at all and will really help your grade. No concert/show attendances are required, but they are offered for extra credit. By the end of the semester you can end up with 40 extra credit points. 10 extra for attendance, and 30 extra for going to three shows. Also, I had an hour and fifteen minute class and were hardly ever there for more than 50 minutes. Take him!

I loved this class... he gives 4 tests that are multiple choice and I think three quizzez. The notes are on powerpoint that he does make available to students. All you have to do is download the PowerPoints to get all the info for the tests. The guy also gives study guides so its easy not to fail his class. Just go to class and study and you'll do fine. Oh yea, he requires you to go to a couple concerts during the semester.

You take notes from the powerpoint. He gives quizes that are multiple choice and tests that are multiple choice and matching. You have to go to at least 3 concerts on campus and you can go to up to 2 more for extra credit. Barely any homework. Boring class but easy. Definitely take him if you can!

Mr. Dade is such a nice man, and really wants his students to do well. He does take attendance so you have to go to class, but there are only a few tests and quizes. There is no final for the class. This is a very easy music class and Mr. Dade is a great teacher.

Dade is cool he can be a little boring at times and there is no reason to really show up for his class except for the quizzes and tests. Everything is on the S drive on powerpoint, if you dont want to pay attention. Listen to the songs and read the book for an hour the day before. I did and it was cake.

He was the nicest professor! Always there and ready for you to ask questions and want to learn more! His class could be a little dull sometimes but that was only because no one would raise their hand and participate, he definitly tried so hard to get participation though. His class was so easy though, he gave many chances for extra credit and if you study your notes before his tests you'll do fine!

Prof. Dade is so easy, but you actually learn something at the same time!!! WHOA! He's a huge dork and doesn't even laugh at his own jokes, but he's really really nice. Just copy his notes from the Ppt, listen to the music selections a few times and study an hour before the exam and you're golden. The concerts were a pain, but at least you don't have to write anything about them. Bring homework to do during them. The exams are pretty easy for the most part, a few tricky questions, but he gives extra credit questions. Quizzes are really easy. There's so many opportunities for extra credit, there's no excuse to not get an A, I had at least 70 points of EC by the end.....

Professor Dade's classes were very easy, but the exams were fairly hard. There are 4 exams and 3 quizzes. You have to go to 3 concerts. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. All lectures are done by powerpoint and can be printed offline. Attendance is not required

Professor Dade is the man! He's a really good prof and if you pay attention in class and take notes you'll do really well! He's incredibly friendly and understanding about circumstances with absences and stuff like that. There are lots of chances for extra points at the end of the semester, too. If you have to take Intro to music, take Prof. Dade! He's awesome!

Mr. Dade is a good prof. he knows what he's doing and he teaches class like its elementary school. The tests are a little more difficult than grade school but if you go to class, attend concerts and study the study guides you'll do fine. PS you have to do a group beat counting project its an easy 100%

If you need Intro. to music, Professor Dade is your man. He's a very new professor to Ship. and seem like a pretty fair guy. This class was not at all difficult. Usually a quiz each friday, which weren't all that hard. Tests material came directly from the notes we took in class. You have to do one class presentation, which was extremely easy. You also have to attend three concerts as part of your grade. These are usually done on campus, so it won't cost you anything. If you attend more then three you get ten extra credit points on your final grade, and if you also attend every class during the semester, it's an additional ten points. I'd reccomend taking him if you need this class. He's really into the music and isn't a bad piano player either, which you'll get to hear alot of in class.

I suppose I could have caught him in a bad semester...or maybe this is how he always runs his group piano classes. The professor consistently canceled class and let the students out early. Moreover, he did not schedule many times for personal sessions outside of class. My grade is due to a lack of motivation on my part because I simply didn't care anymore by the time the last exam rolled around. I had fallen behind because I found the class difficult and there was no way to catch up. If you want to learn the piano, buy the textbook and teach yourself. The instructor even said that most of the learning takes place outside of class. So why even have a class to begin with?
