Prof. Hocking is a good professor. I hate accounting but she made it ok. Class isn't boring, assignments are easy and you can use a 'cheat sheet' for your exams. Had 3 exams and a final. You do 3 short assignments that she called cases and you have to do 3 articles that are also very short. Shes real nice, easy and the class isnt bad.

I actually learned something in this class! She is really cool and if you have any questions about something on a quiz or test she'll explain it to you without giving you the answer. I wouldn't say she actually "teaches" in class but you are expected to read the chapter, which takes a couple days to go over, and then she will go over problems you have in the chapter. The tests and quizzes were not hard at all. If you have a chance to take this prof I suggest doing so.

Prof. Sturtevant is absolutely the nicest professor that I have encountered here at ship. She really cares about her students and you can see that she really wants you to do well. I really was impressed by the fact that she not only gave us office hours and email but also gave us her home and cell phone numbers in case we had any questions. Also the review sessions before the tests are really halpful. I recommend going to them. She tells you exactly what to study. This was a good class...I definitely recommend Sturtevant over some of the other accounting professors.

If you really want to learn, then take this Prof. She takes 5-10 minutes of each class to ask about job offers, whos applying where, etc. Thus she gets to know you on a very personal level. There is a TON of work though, but you truly do learn something.

Sturtevant was a great professor to take. She explains all the material in detail and is always willing to help you out when you need it. Tests were okay, definitely study and go to the review sessions that she holds. I recommend her to anyone who needs an accounting course.

Prof. Sturtevant is a great lady who goes above and beyond to actually TEACH students!! She gives you her cell phone, home phone, and any way to contact her almost 24/7 in case of any questions or problems. She also tries hard to get students to analyze and interpret accounting. Her class is tough however, but if you read and do the exercises (not doing the exercises will get you a C like i got - so do them!!) you will do fine. Take her!! Shes the best (and only best) in the ACCT dept.

Put in some effort and you'll do fine. She lets you use notecards on the tests so just write down some equations and the tests are alright. Make sure you do the exercises and you'll be prepared.

Sturtevant is a great professor who cares a lot about her students. I only had her for Auditing, but she still got to know all of her student's on a personal basis. If you do you work in this class, you will get an A with ease. Take her if you get the chance.

This Professor is truly amazing!!!! But i must warn her class is no joke. There is a lot of homework(which she doesnt collect) But the problems in the homework are verry similar to the problems on her tests, so if you do the homework you will get a good grade. One of the best attributes of this prof. is her availibility, she literally gives you her home and cell phone #'s. Also she goes out of her way before each test to give an extensive review session, going to that really helps (she tells you exactly what to study). Beyond all of this she is a really cool and understanding person; She is going to school for her doctorite and teaching at the same time. This prof. truly understands just how hard it is being a student. I would GLADLY recomend taking her class to anyone.

Best Accounting professor by far. I have heard some horror stories about some of the others. She goes over everything you need to know in class and is always open for questions. She gives a lot of homework but its never collected, so you don't necessarily have to do it, although it does help to do some. You have 4 tests (half multiple choice, half problems), no quizzes, 3 article reviews (easy points), and 3 comprehensive problems. The comprehensive problems are done out of class and are very time consuming (she says that it takes up to 6 hours for some people). These can be very easy as well if you work together in groups. You just can't hand in identical papers. Her tests are rather easy and she explains exactly what is on them in class and even holds study sessions a few days before the test. I definitely recommend her for any Accounting classes you have to take.

Good prof, knows her shit too. She uses the entire period which sucks. Her tests weren't too bad and she gave side assignments that were cake that boosted your grade. I'll take her again if I get the chance.

She is a very good prof. Although I have not yet had any tests, I think it will be okay. She is trying something new this year with her exams, where they will be mostly multiple choice, with a few that you have to work out. She said that they are very fair and not out to trick you, and from what I heard from others who already had her, it's true. She is always willing to help, and sets up study sessions for her exams. She assigns a good amount of homework, but she doesn't require you to complete it. If you don't know much about accounting, then you need to complete the homework in order to keep up. Overall, I would definitely recommend her to anyone!!! :o)

This class was pretty hard for me. She seems to structure the class for people who already have an understanding of the material. Class consists of her reading powerpoints for the entire period.

Um, i'm not really sure where all the positive remarks come from, but she is an AWFUL teacher. I will not call her a professor so much as a power point slide reader. Before the tests, you have to do a large assignment that literally would take groups of educated college students about 5-6 hours net to finish. Really let that sink in. The tests were nothing short of a backhand across the face, followed by her dumping red ink all over your test and giving you a grade based on whatever number she pulled from the tumbler full of numbered balls, like the lottery uses. You never have to show up to class unless you are not capable of reading power point slides, as the homework is nothing like the tests and not graded. [] On a side note, she once lost her voice COMPLETELY. Cancel class for a day? No! Lets bring in a microphone so that she can hoarsely hack out what is written on pre-made powerpoint slides in an attempt to see how long a normal college student can withstand not laughing at such a humorous situation. Truly one of the worst classes imaginable.
