Subject: Perfect for those who hate Math  (Jan 13 2007, 09:34AM)

If you just need to get a Category A credit out of the way then Cooper is cool...as a History major I will rarely ever use Mathematics in the sense that- most of the stuff you learn in these classes will essentially never benefit me one way or another...Cooper teaches fairly slow and methodical...he curves exams...he felt so bad that we all bombed a quiz that he allowed us to do a take home quiz...how much more lenient can an instructor be? I wasn't thrilled to get the first "C" of my academic career...but considering that without the curving and take home quiz I may have failed...and knowing I will never have to take another Math class?... I can learn to live with it! Cooper is OK imo!

Math is my worst subject...Mr. Cooper took the time to help develop our skills so that we might move forward. I felt he was very accommodating and lenient. He did a good job explaining and spending extra time on the things we had trouble with. The only downside was that as tests were given-those who passed moved on while the others had to play catch-up. Other than that, I would have to say that I'd like to have a class with him again! He has a very gentle nature also which is a plus!

HE IS SOOO EASY! If you are looking for an easy grade in a gen ed class, this is the one for you! Cooper is a fair teacher and doesn't go into a lot of detail. If you are looking to understand the reasoning behind statistics, i wouldn't recommend him. There are only 4 tests and no group projects or papers!

He goes very slow when teaching which can be good or bad, depending on how quick you learn. All you ever do in class is go over homework and do example problems. Sometimes he messes up what he's doing but overall, I would recommend

OK...so he is reallllly boring but he goes so slow that if you dont understand him then you should just not take math classes. His tests are simple, he takes the exact problems from the hmwk and puts them on the test. For the tests and final you get an 8x11 sheet of paper of whatever you want on it..come on how much easier can that college class get. Yes, he does talk slow, yes he is broing, yes he does take the whole class to go over hmwk but it was def an easy A for the GPA.

This guy is one of the best math prof ever. He actually attends office hours and explains math in a very step by step fashion. If you can't learn from him youre not paying attention. He does not skip steps. Also he gives take home quizes and lets her bring in a sheet of notes for the third test and final. His tests are quite short and come directly from the homework. Sometimes they are exact problems from the homework with the same numbers.

If youre good in math and need an easy teacher for finite math then he's the guy to take. If youre bad with math don't take him because he won't teach you much and will probably confuse you most of the time because he is usually confused himself.

At first I was doing well in Professor Cooperís class. Then things took a turn for the worse. On his second exam, pretty much everybody in both of his classes failed, and he blamed it on us. He said it couldnít possibly be anything heíd done. Well, he got that right; he didnít do anything. That was the problem. He didnít explain the material correctly until AFTER the exam. He canít answer simple math problems without his precious calculator. He is really full of himself and thinks he can do no wrong. I would avoid Cooper if at all possible. I would NEVER take him again.

First of all, he should not be teaching calc at all!!! Less than 1/4 of the time spent in class consisted of him actually teaching. He gives out homework without teaching whats in the chapter. He then proceeds to take the next class period to go over the homework, then say "i wish we would've gotten to the new stuff, but we didn't so here's your homework for the next chapter." He is horrible. We spend almost every class going over the previous classes homework assignment because no one understands becuase he didn't teach it. DO NOT TAKE HIM! He does offer to help students outside of class, but he doesn't know what he's talking about (so its pointless to see him during office hours) If you were to give him a problem similar to one on the test's/quizzes and ask him to do it in front of you he couldn't do it. He also talks like Elmer Fudd. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

The guy is just too boring. Everyone is asleep and he doesnt seem to care, he just keeps talking with his robotic voice. If you like math and have no problem paying attention to it then u will be fine but if ur just looking for that easy math class for ur requirement, stay away from cooper. His class is nothing but an annoyance.

He's not a good teacher at all. Don't get me wrong, he spends three quarters of the class going over the previous night's homework and dosent leave himself enough time to throughly teach the new lesson, but at the same time he makes the class very easy. I literally went to about 1/4 of the classes and still pulled off a B+. Trips to tutor sessions and office hours are going to be necessary because when I did go, he didnt teach me anything. He's really slow moving and monotone, half the class is asleep within the first 15 minutes. He's really not that hard it's just surviving the lectures thats the hard part.

If you can avoid this man, then by all means do!! Math is my worst subject and I found that this professor didn't help! I had this class at 8am and was constantly trying to keep my eyes open! He only really taught for the first day...after that he would review homework the entire class and teach for only 10-15mins on average... I got so bored that I would keep track every class of what time he started teaching new material. He would "teach" for a few mintues and then give a list of about 10-15 questions for homework (all of which usually had multiple parts!) then when we came back for class we had to go over the homework the whole time because most people didn't figure it out since he doesn't teach!! go figure!! His tests were crap..usually only about 5 problems (some with multiple parts) so each question was worth like 10 points so don't make stupid mistakes or you will be screwed! His final is the same way except its 10 questions! I can definitely say that he is a horrible professor and that its not that I'm a horrible student...most of the time on test and quizzes I got higher than the class average and I still was only pulling out C's,D's, and F's....Only 3 quizzes, 3 tests, a final, and one 6 or so question extra credit that was given to us on the last day of class...good luck to anyone who decides to take him!

I had this class at 8am which didnt help, but I had to drop this class because he was so boring. He cant teach and he talks in the slowest monotone ever. This class is supposed to be an easy requirement filler for an El Ed major, but not if you have a guy who cant find the answers to a problem himself in front of the class. Even when the answers were in the book.

Prof. Cooper has to be one of the most BORING people alive! And yes, "Prof" Cooper not "Dr."--he doesn't have his doctorate yet. Maybe that accounts for why he can't teach! I started going to his class at the beginning of the semester, and I just kept sleeping through it, so I said to myself, "Why sleep here when you can sleep in your nice bed?" So I only went to class when my roomie, who also had the class, told me we had a test. That's another thing--Cooper gives no clear syllabus with dates or anything. He doesn't teach, he just goes over the previous night's homework. Thank God my roomie is good at math; it's the only way I managed to pull off a "B" in this class!

If you want to learn don't take him. If you want to catch up on your sleep, this is the prof for you. Oh, he does take attendance, so show up to class.

And seriously, if you've never gotten past Algebra 2, don't take him either because he tries to throw calc in there... ugh!

this prof. was so boring, it was pointless to come to class. he talks so slow, by the time he makes his point, the class is already over. he seems really illiterate too, he mispronounces a lot of words...which becomes really annoying. But, I have to say, if you need him to explain something, he does, and really well, just be prepared to sit there for a while until he finally explains it.

first off this guy doesnt even have a doctorate yet. he has his masters but is working for his doctorate. i had him at 8am mwf and slept the times that i went. he never ended class on time and constantly went an extra couple minutes until the kids decided to get up and leave. i do not recommend him at all. he would take 25 minutes to do one problem on the board and when he was done he always got the answer wrong and then took him another 10 minutes to figure what he did wrong. make sure u bring ur (calculator). so boring was his class. i got a mercy d and do not recommend him at all. do not take him!

Wow! Talk about a guy making math as boring as it can possibly be. First of all, he reads right from the book and has no idea what he's talking about and 2nd his syllabus was...non-existent so forget ever knowing what you're gonna do in each class. If you want to pass this class, go but don't listen and just get a tutor and form study sessions.

Dr. Cooper's classes goes as follows: Gives homework class period 1. Class period 2 asks if there are any questions and subsequently does all of the homework on the board. Gives more homework. -Repeats- Although his classes are boring, one must realize this is math. All math is boring. Dr. Cooper is a nice guy and very genuine. He takes his time to explain things. If you really want to be challenged, don't take his class. Otherwise, enjoy his lax demeanor and simple tests.

ok, so I had him for stats and he was great. Soo easy and I understood everything even though he works through the book as slow as molasses. But for this class, he got worse. He was sooo slow, sooo boring and def. didnt understand things and just made it more confusing when you asked him questions. If you want a boring prof who doesnt take attendance, can walk out of class whenever you want, and basically get away with murder take him. But if you get confused easily and arent so good in math, def dont take him.

Good aspects: he tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. He goes over any questions about homework that you have. Bad aspects: tests are really hard, study a lot. In class he gets confused sometimes and will write down the wrong numbers. he doesn't teach material effectively before giving homework for it. Basically you learn it on your own by doing the homework and the next class he clarifies any problems you have.

Professor Cooper is a very nice man and is always available and helpful. He teaches right out of the book and doesnt really teach. He gives you homework problems that you have to figure out and then in class he just goes over the questions you have about the homework. He never collects the hw, but if you do it you will be fine in the class. Even though he does take attentance, it doesn't count for anything grade wise. Prof. Cooper is boring and monotoned, and sometimes its hard to stay awake, but he's a decent teacher.

While Professor Cooper is a nice guy, he's about as interesting as a brick. He goes extremely slowly, and feels it is necessary to explain every insignificant detail involved in everything he teaches. He is, however, very willing to answer questions, and always makes sure that everyone understands the material. Overall, it's a fairly easy class, but it is guaranteed to put you to sleep.

Professor Cooper is an okay person in general. I struggeled a lot in his class but he was always in his office willing to answer my questions when i had them. On the negative side his tests were very hard. Also sometimes he would spend 25-30 minutes on one problem and after a while you begin to fall asleep.

Okay this teacher isn't good but isn't bad. He talks a lil like Elmer Fudd but he's an okay man. Yes he does read from the book but if you can teach yourself some things you'll be okay. His test, he lets you bring in a sheet of paper with formulas and definitions and what not to help you(yes i said a SHEET OF PAPER BACK AND FRONT not just a lil note card)So honestly he's not bad...just add games to your calculator or just sit there and try to get what he's talking about and youll do fine
