Dr. D is real, down to Earth and won't lie to you. He's very straight forward and there is nothing that will take you by surprise in that class. He'll tell you exactly what to expect and he lives up to his word. He teaches you REAL LIFE SKILLS that you will use later in life like how to spell and use grammar properly. Grammar is not just something for English Class, people. He's not an easy teacher and he's not meant to be. Welcome to college guys, he's tough, he's real, and he'll do everything in his power to try to get you to actually do well in his class. Pretty much that means he's going to encourage you to get off your ass and actually study. To get an A in this class you're going to have to work for it. Get to know what he wants, it's not that hard. Take a few breaths before his exams, they're tricky but worth it, deciphering graphs and maps is a very important skill! All in all, take this class seriously and he'll take YOU seriously.

Dr. Drzyzga is by far my favorite professor in the department. To begin with, he is such a nice guy; he's always willing to help his students with anything. His knowledge of GIS is never-ending, so if you're into it, he's the professor to take. As for the comment about him never being in his office, that's simply not true; the man never seems to leave campus. Check his website for office hours; he's always there when he says he will be. Dr. Drzyzga's exams are difficult, but he simply wants his students to apply what they have learned. The information he presents is not to simply be memorized and regurgitated onto some exam. He wants the information and techniques to develop into valuable skills.

Dr. D, I commend you for your class. I absolutely loved it because it just wasn't about geography, it was about everything going on today. I learned so much, although I didn't do as well as I should have. His tests are so hard and I am sad to say I struggled with them. I worked my butt off but ended with a B+. You're awesome though, Dr. D. TAKE HIM!

Drzyzga was a really great professor, who wants nothing more from his students than to apply what they learn. His 25 word assignments are a bit tricky but they are extremely useful to display how much you've learned. If you don't do the readings, you might be f*cked for the exams. He lectures all the time which can be really boring, but he tries to keep the class interesting.

Take him, he is def a funny guy that engages as many people as he can in class. You won't fall asleep. He teaches similar to professor Marr whom I had for world geography. Take notes and study for his tests, they are all the same format and you get used to them. Pay attention to picking apart the themes of location in the beginning of the class for clues on the articles at the end of tests. He gives out 25 WORD assignments occasionally. He totally gets that this is not everyone's major and relates the subject to things that everyone should understand and get semi interested in.

Dr. Drzyzga tries to make sure everyone is understanding his lectures but it's hard to follow when they last the entire class time. Tests are very fair, same format each time. 25 word writing assignments are easy. Some of the information is actually relevant and interesting too... I'd take him again.

This class is not a hard class. You have short writing assignments that have to be 25 words exactly. The tests can be a little tricky, but there is nothing on the tests that you haven't gone over in class. You have a paper that is 6 pages in which you have to research a commodity chain, seems like a lot...think again. Those 6 pages include a map, bibliography, contact list and your commodity chain. For my paper I wrote like 3 pages of information. Its not a hard class. He tries to make things as interesting as he possibly can. Take the class if you need it as a gen ed!

This was probably the best teacher I've had so far in my three years of college. He knows his area very well and makes it fun to learn for the class. He gives you 7 writing assignments but they're almost like comic relief because each one must be EXACTLY 25 words, no more and no less or you'll get a 0. If you want to talk to him he's pretty much there 24/7 and stays long after class to make sure everyone can talk to him. His end of semester projects can get a bit annoying and involved, but it's all mental. If you want a fun class that's pretty easy to get a good grade in (and who doesn't) then take him! Bravo Drzyzga, bravo.

This was one of the brighter spots in my schedule. Prof. Drzyzga does a decent job getting the big ideas across and the workload was easily managed. The SWA'a (short writing assign.) were a bit quirky at first (25 words-no more no less!) but after a few you get the hang of it. One final project, which was a breeze, and three exams plus a final...but wait...if you score high enough during the semester you can opt out of taking the final...yeah baby! ;) All-in-all...I'll be looking for Drzyzga should I need to get anymore Geography credits! Overall nice guy.

Scott's a really great guy, and this class has basically been a breeze, and he treats it like it is - a core class. He knows we're all not aspiriing geographers, but tries to generate at least SOME interest in topics in geography. He says he takes attendance, but I'm not really sure if he does. He knows everybody's names, and learned them fairly quickly, which is cool. He's got a lot of little assignments to help you boost your grade, and a project which he is so much more than willing to help you with. There are two tests and an optional final, you get to drop your lowest grade. Again, take him if you have the chance, he's SUPER nice and always approachable.

Drzyzga is a great prof. If you show interest and contribute to the class you will do great. He assigns labs that you need to put time and work into. His approach is not the traditional cookbook style where he just assigns projects. He expects you to think and learn. If you show him you care, he will help you with anything. peace

Dr. Drzyzga was a very ineffective prof. Dont ever try to call him professor. He will look at you and say "call me dr." The man understands GIS but that is about all he understands. Was always throwing us curve balls on the exam as if he was trying to trick us. I will never take another class with him again.

These other reviews are way off. This guy genuinely does not care about his students. His tests consist of many trick questions and he grades essays like it is english class. After the class reviews the tests, he asks if the test was fair. Even though half the class says no, he would just move on an act like he didn't hear anything. Oh and if you forget to staple your homework, he gives you a 0.

Ok, first off, this professor is a nice guy. He is very easy to talk to and try's to work with students as much as possible. He is not in his office that much, so if you need to talk with him that can be a problem. When it comes to the actual class... wow talk about boring. Holy crap, all it consist of is power point after power point...I guess if you like that kinda class then this might be the one for you. But, and there is a big but, when it comes to his tests...what the hell?? They are stupid...there are 15 multiple choice and then the rest of the test is charts for you to figure out. Then at the end of the test he chooses an article from The New York Times (which is un-godly long) then he askes 6 off the wall questions about the article, which usually have nothing to do with the class. The only thing that I felt that I was really tested on, as far as in class information, was the 15 multiple choice questions. The rest of the test was confusing as hell. If you are good at making up pointless essays to useless questions that have nothing to do with class info then take this class. But if you are looking to take a class where you are actually tested on info that you go over in class, I would advise you to take someone else. I really don't know why he does all of those power points because all the info on them he does not use on the test anyway. I got an OK grade in the class, but I did not learn a damn thing. And it was extreamly boring and very frusterating most of the time. If you have to take him...good luck, but if you have a choice, take someone else!!!

Nice guy, but his tests are challenging. Pretty much everything is power point. He does have a tendency to zip right through the info which makes it challenging to try and copy the info. Not bad, but I'm sure there's better prof to take.
