Dr. Nomura is awesome. She lets you use all your notes (including in class worksheets) on the 3 exams you take. There are 3 easy take home projects and easy ten question map quizzes. Her class focuses on powerpoints but they aren't bad by any means. If you want a good grade, just show up and do the work. I highly suggest her.

Yes you do take a lot of notes, yes she does seem nervous when she teaches. BUT she if you actually put forth a LITTLE effort you will get an A do doubt about it. She is very nice, and genuinely wants her students to do well. Her exams are open note, so if you study and take notes in class you will do fine. You take a map quiz every week that is easy if you study. Overall I would highly recommend this teacher.

This class is long... I have it for a night class and you will take a lot of notes but she allows you to use your notes on the tests and gives a quiz every week which is only 10 questions on a map and is very easy. Tests are a little hard even with open notes but if you study they aren't bad at all. Would definitely recommend this prof to anyone.

GEO-101 was a boring class, as in materials being learned. All you do is take notes on powerpoints. To make things a little more intresting you watched movie clips and answered questions. Just watch the movie and then Nomura goes over it... easy class participation points! 10 point map quizzes boost your grade when you don't do as well on the exams. Even though you can use your notes on exams-- still look over before taking the exam! It is a lot of material. You can still do well in the class if you do poorly on the exams. Just get good grades on the map quizzes!!! 3 assignments,no biggie....just don't wait till the last minute because they are a little time consuming. I really enjoyed having Nomura. She wants everyone to do well and if you do not understand something, don't be afraid to ask- she wants you to do well in her class! A VERY SWEET & NICE PROFESSOR!

All around, Dr. Nomura is a pretty good professor. She seems like she's ALWAYS nervous while lecturing but she does a good job. Her classes can get a bit boring because she lectures off of powerpoints all class. Yet at the same time she's very understanding because she recognizes when the class is getting tired of listening to the lecture and she'll begin to wrap it up. She has a small map quiz each week that is quite easy as long as you've taken the time to look at the map for a bit before class. Her exams are very hard but she lets you use notes that you've taken in class and notes you've taken during the reading so it certainly makes them easier. You also have three out of class assignments that are somewhat time consuming but very easy. As long as you're willing to put in a little bit of effort, I'd certainly recommend Dr. Nomura.

It's one of the most boring classes that I have had. A lot of note taking. Class is easy though. A lot of coloring and easy map quizzes. Not much work outside of class. Exams are good cuz you can use your notes. She is boring but I recommend taking her. Sweet lady.

Ignore the bad comments, Prof. Nomura is easy as long as you show up most of the time. The notes aren't terrible and all of the 10question quizzes were open book (definitely buy the book and read the information on the quizzes that she doesn't include in class). Her exams are easy! I studied for 20 minutes and received a 95. While she does have a Japanese accent she's perfectly understandable. She may not be the most exciting, but she certainly is easy to learn from.

Professor Nomura is very knowledgeable about her field. She does do powerpoint lectures, which depending on how you look at it may be boring, however if you show up for class and do all the reading and take notes from the reading, you should get an A on every test. All tests are open notebook, so if you do the work, you will do great and will learn a lot in the process. If you don't mind earning your grades, take her - you won't regret it.

Prof. Nomura i felt was a great teacher. Her class forces you to learn about world regions that you probably never knew anything about before. Yes, you must do your work for the class if you want to do well. I suggest actually doing most of the reading if you want to do well on the tests. You take a lot of notes but they were extremely helpful especially on quizzes and the tests. You have two short assignments to do that were pretty easy. Many people complain about her english but honestly people it is not bad at all...i dont know what everyone is complaining about...she speaks fine. Shes a great teacher to take if you really would like to learn more about world geography!

Professor Nomura was a very good teacher despite most of the attitudes about her in the class. She gives class presentations in powerpoint form every class and you have to hand-write the notes off of the slides. For most people this seemed to annoy them, but I thought it was beneficial to learning the material. There is a short quiz on each region, which includes 7 multiple choice, one fill in the blank, and about 3 map questions. These are fairly easy if you pay attention. The tests are similar with the majority of it being multiple choice, very litle fill-in-the-blank, and about 3-10 map questions depending on the subject. The tests can be a bit difficult, but if you pay attention in class and actually study the material in the book than you will do fine. Be warned though, her english is not that great because she moved here from Japan. Although this should not be a factor for you if you are really willing to learn and can see how good of a teacher she is. Take her if you want to be open-minded about the world.

Seriously, the woman is crazy. All she did for 75 minutes was stand up there and lecture notes from her stupid powerpoint. Her tests are impossible, and her quizzes are ridiculous b/c you'll have 15 pages of detailed notes and then she'll ask you 8 questions. If you take her make sure you buy the text and read it front to back b/c she asks a bunch of questions on the test that are only in there and not even mentioned in the 75 minutes she takes to stand up there and ramble on.I WOULD NOT TAKE HER NO MATTER WHAT, but if you wanna give it a try, hey that's your choice.

This professor is horrible!! DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!! Her tests are literally impossible, and consist of about 65-70 multiple choice 10 true and false 10 fill in the blank and 10 map identification. All to be finished in 50 minutes!! she is ridiculous! I even asked her for help with one of the chapters before a test, and asked her if I could come down during her office hours. She said no, I dont have time for that, you'll have to get help from one of your classmates!! she doesnt care about her students at all!!!!!!!

Although if you study your ass off you will not fail, her class is horrible. it is the most boring class you will ever take. she cannot speak properly. the quizes are [stupid], and every test is all BOOK, nothing on the 900 pages of notes she makes us take. the class is ALL lecture, by powerpoint. You will get through the class, but it will not be easy!

So the first day of class she tells you her tests are open note..so of course you jump for joy!! But that only makes the tests harder!! Her quizzes and assignments are very easy but her tests are pretty crazy...Her classes are kinda boring and seem long only because you go over powerpoints EVERY class but other than that shes a very nice lady and very understanding...

I did think that she was knowledgeable in the subject, but she was boring when it came to teaching. The reason I got a C plus in her class is because the tests are 60% of your grade and they were very hard. They were open note, but the questions are so concentrated that they were still hard. I went to every class and took notes, but still got like C's on her tests. I did all the assignments and got good grades on my quizes. I recommend that you take another teacher if you are not strong in the test area and would like more in class activities.

Very nice. You can get along with her very well. A LOT of notes..READ THE CHAPTERS IN YOUR BOOK...her tests are a lot of things you don't go over in class that are in your books... She repeats herself ALL THE TIME which is really annoying. You take notes the WHOLE time..

kaori nomura...she's not bad, but nowhere close to being great. She has no experience and is always very nervous. Her lectures are boring as hell, and if you don't read the book, you're screwed. Her attendence policy is there is no attendance policy. But you better go because the readings are boring as hell too. It's easier to listen to her then read. Her english is great, however her pronouncation is off, and once again she's just very nervous in the way she talks and teaches. it seems she has very little confidence in herself. If you're a good student, take her, cause you won't have a problem. If you don't want to do sh*t, then i recommend staying away. Talking to her one on one is good, cause she can help you a lot good luck
