I don't know why there are so many negative comments about this lady. Although she may be short and winey, she does teach the math very well. She goes to several examples and makes sure everyone is up to par with the class. She cares about her students. Her tests can get difficult, but if you just study and look over the examples you should do fine. Overall, she isn't a bad teacher to take, and I recommend her.

I honestly don't see how Prof. Miller got all these negative comments! I'm not a prep at all, and I'm not super-great in math either -- and I liked her (thats why im very confused to the negative comments) -- But anyway, Miller is a great professor who really seems to emphasize certain points in math. Before this class, I was very hazy when it came to math class, but since her I seem to retain things a lot easier, and I understand math a great amount moreso than I did before (and I didn't really study for the class). So if you want a good professor who may seem like shes mean but really a nice lady, definetly check her out!

OK people we are not in kindergarden anymore and we are not "Stars" as she would call us all the time. She seriously reminded me of my kindergarden teacher. Her classes were soooooooooooo boring and she did nothing interesting at all. Her tests were ridiculously hard and they had problems on them unlike any we went over in class. Her quizzes are stupid as well and you have a 5 point quiz everytime you have class. If you did one thing wrong you lost almost all points for the quiz. It was just very stupid. Don't take her for this class...TRUST ME!!!!!!!! DON'T TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!

If you are a science major who's only taking this class so that you're ready for calculus, and she's the only prof you can take for pre-calc, just chance it and take calculus, it will do you more good than taking this class. I withdrew from calculus first semester, and decided to take this class becuase I thought she would teach the trig aspect of pre-calc more, so I could brush up on it. I figured that she would teach this thinking that most of us who were taking pre-calc are going onto calculus. No, she definitely only started to hit trig the last month of the semester. She doesn't teach the material in class that she puts on the tests, she goes off on tangents concerning math that's freshman level OF HIGH SCHOOL. She doesn't grade homework, but if you have to take her, do the homework! It's the only way you'll get an A in that class. She talks to the class like we're all 10 years old, this was one of my most hated classes. Honestly, the woman belongs teaching a high school, not college!

Prior to taking her pre-calculus class I had really excelled in math. In fact I was told to take calculus but since I did not need it for my major i decided to stick to the basics and take pre-calculus. Wow this was definitely a mistake!! Although she is a nice lady she is very confusing and does not explain things very well. I showed up to every class, took notes and still struggled. She recommended to our class that we go to an SI tutor so I went several times thinking that it would help. I got help on assessments and homework problems and ended up doing worse on the tests than before! This class is a waste and did not teach me anything. Instead it ended up confusing me and really brought down my GPA. I would not recommend taking this class at all unless you want to be bored out of your mind and be utterly confused. Avoid at all costs!!

I read the comment before taking this class and was a little worried. But, after a few classes I thought it would be okay. She's a real nice lady and does teach pretty well. But I figured out after my first d in math that maybe she isn't that great. I used to think I was good at math but after I kept getting d's she definitely proved me wrong. She doesn't go over homework. If you ask for help she sends you to the SI person who usually has no idea and confuses you and makes you wonder why she just couldn't answer your question. It just sucked and totally killed my gpa and now I think I can forget about majoring in math. My advice: if you take her do all the homework and try to get her to help her if you need help. but good luck!

Ok first of all, in every math class I took in high school I got a 95 or higher. In her class I'll be lucky if I get a B! I actually took Pre-Calc in high school so you'd think that Finite Math would be a piece of cake...WRONG!!! She doesn't explain anything. She gives you the notes does one problem about it and then that's it. She doesn't explain how she did it or why she did what she did. Then she says you should do about 5 pages of homework a night which she doesn't even go over the next class! You get a quiz EVERY DAY and the problem you get for the quiz you probably didn't even talk about in class ever before. She's never around to help you. All she says is "Go to the learning center." Yeah ok, well I've been there and they didn't help either. I ended up going to my high school math teacher when I had a problem. And she treats you like you're in elementry school...no gum, no food, no drinks, no cell phones. My advice: Take any other prof than Miller. And P.S. she lets class out late every day.

Ok Im halfway decent at math. But she used to teach high school and apparently she hasnt made the transition. She said no hats, gum, food, drinks or anything in there. No one in the class had any idea what was going on in the class. She was always making mistakes on the problems. She gave us a handout and the problem was written wrong and didnt give us any credit because "we should have known to put the decimal point in the problem." Gee as if i had a phd already or something. Oh wait, neither does she. I forgot a worksheet to turn in and I got up to get it cause I accidently left it in my truck and she said sorry, no credit. So that was 30 points down the drain. Most normal professors would understand. She sux. Dont take her, youll learn nothing.

When I first took this teacher I tried to give her a chance but my grade got steadily worse just like her teaching. She gave a test every class, and did not go over the homework. To make it even worse she repeatedly had to tell us to watch HER math because she kept doing the problems wrong. Don't take her whatever you do, you're just going to screw up your G.P.A. if you do.

This is one of the worst professors I have ever had. She does not seem to care about you and thinks that all you do is go home and study calc. She grades incredibly hard and her homework assignments actually hurt your grade, rather than help because she grades so hard. She also treats you like you are two and as if all you do is procrastinate. She always tells you to go to the learning center, rather than offering to help. I woked my ass off in this class and am going to be lucky if I even pass. I seriosly could take this class with another professor and get an A, but not with her. She is not willing to help you in one bit, even if you have a legit excuse. Forget being in the hospital and having a note to go along with it. I got a zero on an assignment becuase I was in the hospital. I mean what the F!@# is that. She does not listen to any excuse, no matter what it is!! [] Avoid her at all cost, even if you are a math major and know what you are doing. Stay Away!!!

All because of her I'm changing majors to get outta this hell hole they call math..... She has turned me off to everything I once thought I LOVED *business* so take my advice stay away from here at all costs!

At first I did not really like math, but after taking this prof. I absolutely hated it. She does not teach the math. We only get hand outs and then are assigned book problems that we later get quizzed on. The only problem is that we never go over what we did for the homework, so if you have questions forget it. I had to go to a tutor just to get a grasp on the material. It seems like this teacher is merely solving the problems herself during class, and is struggling to actually teach others how to do it. She may have been a great high school teacher but college is a whole different level, and if a teacher cannot keep up with teaching us then that person should not teach. I'd like to meet the person that hired her, and give them a piece of my mind. Oh, and this prof. also gives quizzes twice a week, but takes off more than half of the 5 pts. if you don't label every single little aspect, even if you get the answer correct! I wonder if this prof. knows that she will be rated by the whole class at the end of the semester? At any rate if you get put into any math class with this prof. I would drop it immediately! I had scheduled for Jones because he has a good rep. and if anything I needed a math teacher who can really teach the stuff, but then the wonderful schedulers changed things on me. Thanks a lot whoever does the schedule rearranging, I so appreciate the switch (NOT)! I would have dropped this class, but taking on a minor did not permit any rearranging of my classes, so do not take this class with this teacher if you would be unable to drop it if things don't go so well, because I guarantee you will want to! And just a warning, if you find you are doing poorly there is no extra credit to help pull your grade up so that is something to consider.

If you get this teacher deffinitely drop the class asap. In this class you will go over so much material in such a little time. I thought i was good at math until i got into her class. If you are lost at all, she will NEVER go over material you do not understand. If you absolutely have to take this class, good luck.

This teacher could be the worst teacher I've ever had. This course should not be that difficult, most of it I had already learned in high school. But from day 1, Dr. Miller encouraged us, pushed us, to use the learning center or math tutoring. I thought it was her job to teach but when you ask her for help, she gets angry and says "I'm pretty sure the learning center is open." I've always been a straight A student and I'll be lucky if I pass her class. DO not take her. She is miserable, teaches you the simplest version of a problem but gives you the most complex ones on the quizzes and tests, and you have a quiz EVERYDAY.

Stop wherever you are and look at your schedules for next semester is this prof. on it? If you answered yes to this question go get it changed immediately. This prof. is the worst prof. ever. Now i've never been real good at math, but I was able to maintain a C or B average throughout my school days and an A all through last year but with this prof. I'm sure i'm going to fail. She doesn't teach us crap, and never really tells us about the homework she put in the sylubus and never ever goes over that stuff... she always everday starts a new lesson regardless if you understood the last one. "you should know how to do that..." "get one of your friends to help you there are many smart kids in the class..." *the last statement is a total Lie; NO ONE KNOWS WHAT WERE DOING IN CLASS* So my advive for you stay away from her at all cost. Thank you and have a great day!

If you want to be confused in a math class where you have to fix the professor's dumbass mistakes on the board or have to ask them all the time where they come up with stuff then this teacher is for you!!! i hate this class and when ya ask for more one-on-one help she'll be like do you know the learning center is open? or has another classmate help you in the class... If I am correct, I'm paying thousands of dollars for HER to teach me how to do the math I'm gonna need. Her quizes I might add so far havent even been on stuff we learn in class, her explanation "you should know how to do it," bull crap! the class is crap and we get out late too!
