This was my favorite class last semester. Brasher is laid back and entertaining and tries to make government interesting. I more or less hate government but I liked the class. OK his tests are a little hard but he more or less tells you what is going to be on them with his review sheets and he is really willing to help.

He's a good prof. A little scattered at times, but good overall. I didn't read the book at all, if you pay attention and take notes the exams aren't bad. He would give us the essay topics before the exam, and while giving notes he would point out what would be an essay. Gave us easy extra credit twice during the semester.

Prof. Brasher is cool with me. I just took the class as an elective and had one of my best semesters. Everything that was on the test was straight outta the notes. All you have to do is study and its an easy "A"!

Professor Brasher is a really easy teacher IF you study. If not you will fail... simple as that. He gives notes during class and the essays are the notes word for word so memorize them. Other people might say he is hard but thats just because they didn't study, I'm not a very smart student and I did well.

For someone who does not like government, I thought Brasher made the class interesting. He seems to actually care about his students. His tests are hard but if you come to class they are ok.

Dr. Brasher was a very effective professor. His lectures are interesting and sometimes even humorous. His exams are tough(essays/short answer) but if you go to him during office hours, it helps!! Take him!

His tests are hard, but he grades easy. You need to memorize the magical Brasher lists for them, but they all kinda fit together. His multiple choice are fairly easy, the essays are hard, but he doesn't grade them too hard. Probably the best social sciences teacher I've met with regards to not injecting personal political beliefs into the classroom. On his final, he asked a multiple choice question, "Where do I lean politically", which got varied answers from left to right, and that's good. Not like other profs who basically force you to tout the liberal line on tests (you hear me, Dr, Cornelius?) Class discussions were fun and relevant, he makes you keep up with current events, which is great considering the general stupidity of most students on real issues. Just remember, THERE IS A SECOND BOOK TO THE COURSE, AND THERE WILL BE A SHORT ANSWER ON THE TESTS FROM IT!!! dammit.

Dr. Brasher is an awesome guy! His class is a little difficult, but if you put in the work, you'll get a good grade. He has current event quizzes, so you have to stay up to date on USAToday.com, but even then, it's pretty easy. He has three major tests, which if you study for, are not that bad. There is also a huge paper that is easy, but a lot of information. However, it pays off because it is all the information you'll need for your in-class debate. This is a great class, and has a good professor at the board teaching it. I highly recommend this professor to all interested students.

Dr. Brasher was my favorite prof last semester, and (thus far) my favorite prof at Ship. He is highly entertaining, and makes his information interesting. You can get by on his tests without reading the text (if you're happy with Cs or Ds). He does give current event quizzes, so it is imperative to stay up-to-date with what's going on around the world. I loved his personality and his approach to teaching. I took his night class, but he was good about breaking things up and not lecturing for the whole time. The 25 page paper wasn't that difficult. If you have the chance, DEFINITELY take Dr. Brasher...he's cool as hell and you'll definitely learn a lot from him.

dr. brasher is a really nice guy. i took the class as a night class so i rarely missed any. i didn't even buy the book and still managed b's on my tests. he lectures a lot, but its not from the book. he includes his own opinions and cracks jokes a lot. there are some group activities, and he sometimes showes movies. there is a 25-page paper due, but it's a group project and was not hard at all. if you have the choice i would take dr. brasher

This is a good class... you learn about our government but these test are insane. I wouldn't take this class unless you are in love with studying ALL the time....the current events stuff will kill you every time, soo be like an old person and watch CNN all of your life and you might be ok in this class....

This professor is very funny, however when it comes to exams he grades hard. The notes in class are very un-organized. And in the middle of notes you can hear a random story or two, then back to notes. This is not the type of class that I would take.

he's a good guy but he has such an anal grading system. Your whole grade is based on 3 exams and a final... most of the time the things that you study aren't even on the test. make sure not to take him and take Kessler or tucker if possible.

I took his class as a 3 hr night class. He is a real nice guy, but he doesnt explain whats going to be on the tests. His current event quizes rock my world every week. You have to read too! I am not finished with his class yet but i dont recommend it, at least not as a night class.

Professor Brasher was nice, and fairly helpful. He made class amusing with sarcasm, which some people don't like but that I enjoyed. I wasn't a fan of his teaching method, as he was pretty scattered at times. I found it hard to take notes. His exams are multiple choice and essay, with emphasis on essay. There were only two exams and a final. He's a fair professor, but since I strongly dislike Government, I found the class difficult. I would suggest his class if you're good at concentrating, as he had no powerpoints.

Subject: Hilarious, but lots of memorization.  (Jan 14 2010, 11:07AM)
Student: Anonymous (Elementary Education)
Class:US Government & Politics (A)
12 of 37 students found this review helpful.

Brasher is an AWESOME professor. He's hilarious, and a lot of times he has you watch the Daily Show, for an even funnier look at current events. However, his tests are brutal (there's 3, and then the final). They're half multiple choice, half essay. READ THE BOOK! The multiple choice questions are all from the book, and can be difficult. The essay part involves memorization. Lots and lots of memorization. He gives you around 6 possible essay questions a few classes before the tests, and uses most of them. You have to memorize your notes (which are normally grouped into the questions, which is nice, and a lot of them are given to you in lists) and then regurgitate the notes on the test. I'm an actor, and memorization is in my blood, so I did pretty well. However, if you can't memorize, DON'T take him! Good luck! :D

Dr. Brasher is the coolest and most down to earth guy. The only bad thing about his class is that his tests can be very diffucult. You have 3 tests. They are mult. choice/ short answer/ and an essay.
