Okay, yes, this course was not the easiest course I ever took. It required a good amount of effort and studying. The positive thing, I actually learned! And most of what was learned was interesting. You really need to study, read the book, and be prepared to do well on the exams, but they are manageable with a little work. It was worth it and she is such a sweet lady.

This class was easy and seemed as if I had already learned everything that she talked about. Her classes are extremely boring because she has powerpoints that you can get online. She recognizes who goes to class so if you go she will remember that at the end of the course. She gives four exams and has you write and 5 page paper in the end before finals. I recommend taking her but you will probably not learn much.

She is always willing to answer your questions. Her tests are not easy. Many of the questions come from the book, and are not discussed in class. So that means that you must do a lot of reading to do well. She gives you back a few points on your tests if you see her during office hours to discuss her tests. She does this because she feels that it is important to learn from your mistakes. Overall she is a great professor that really cares and wants you to do well.

I really like her. I think she is really nice. She is always willing to answer questions and she is normally available whenever you need her. Her classes aren't hard. If you read the book you will do fine on the exams. Other than that all you really have do is go to class and you get participation points. She isn't a hard professor.

She was one of my favorite profs! She is very understanding and helpful. There are only two tests and abstracts due at the end on the week and sometimes she would decide not to have one due! Even when it came to the midterm and final she let my class come into her office and look over the answers and gave us extra credit! I would recommend her to anyone that wants to learn and have fun!

I suggest Dr Patterson because she is always in a positive mood and always open to answer any questions. She is always available and her grading is very easy. There are only 2 tests and the rest are abstracts due at the end of every week. She doesnt take attendence and every class is basically a lecture. Just go to class, take the notes, talk to her and you'll recieve a good grade.

Professor Patterson is a great teacher! She is always more than happy to answer questions. She is always available. She really cares about how her students do in her class. The only homework had were abstracts that are due at the end of each week and they really arenít very hard to do. There are only two tests and as long as you read and study youíll do good. She is very open minded and keeps class interesting. I strongly recommend her!

Only she could make a class like Corrections boring and a bad experience. She does not teach. She sits back counting the money we pay her and lets us fail. You will learn nothing because she teaches nothing. She repeats the same things 20 times and does that every class so there's no time for anything else. My best recommendation is to not take her class.

Dr. Patterson... hmmm, where to start. Okay, I guess my first gripe would be her lack of actual teaching. Sure, post all the 48 power point slides on blackboard so I can teach it to myself. Sure, make us read the book and then talk about nothing in it. And sure, by all means, don't talk about or explain anything in your slides. And on the rare occasion tbat she would actually teach, she doesn't put the powerpoint notes up until 2 weeks later. So I'll sit in class and she'll go through notes too fast to copy, not put them up on blackboard until 2 weeks later when I have no idea what they mean, and then make us read the book which has nothing to do with the information she seemingly gets out of her ass for class. Nothing makes sense. No one comes to class.

I took this professor for Theories of Crime and Crime Control over the summer. Honestly, her abstracts were fairly fun(if not somewhat tedious every week), but her tests were not extremely easy. I was one of the few people who didn't need the tests revamped to pass them. I think she is a decent teacher, but the class itself is rather in-depth. Oh, and of course it is required if you are a cj major! It isn't the easiest class in the world and will take a lot of effort, but I found it interesting. If you like abstract ideas, this class is for you.

Dr. Patterson relies on her Power Point slides WAY too much. Without them, she would be lost. She goes through them very quickly, but posts them on Black Board, for the most part. She was very open minded about students opinions in class, but had to pull teeth to get any response from the class. Her tests were all essay, and the class was given the essay questions prior to the test and allowed to bring in written notes in order to help them on the actual exam. The class is not difficult, just hair pulling trying to get some consistency out of her.
