Dr. Burg is very friendly and is always willing to give you help if needed! In the Theory and Practice class, he said he would NOT take late papers, however, if you e-mailed him asking for an extension, he would gladly give you one. I haven't needed to do so in the US & WWII class but he has the same rule so I am sure he would do the same. He is very caring about his students and makes an effort to know every students name and remembers them! If you see him outside of class, he makes sure to greet you. My friend and I are frequently talking in the halls of Dauphin and if he walks by, he makes sure to stop and ask how we are doing and whatnot. I even saw him at Walmart once and he even stopped to talk there! I think thats what makes him one of my favorites, you aren't just another student to him. TAKE HIM. He grades pretty easy on most things but it isn't easy to the point that you wonder why you even did it. He likes writing assignments which I love doing. They are usually asking if you agree with stuff. I do not regret taking him for either of these classes and I will definitely be taking him again for other classes if the opportunity presents itself. In the Theory and Practice class, we had tons of papers and a big research paper. In the US & WWII class, we had to do 2 debates, 8 papers and a midterm and final. The best thing about him is he gives TONS of papers. But you only have to do so many. So there's wiggle room if you forget to do a paper or are too overwhelmed to do it. In the US & WWII class we have to do 8 of 12 papers. All the prompts for the papers are already on the syllabus as well so if you are the type to work ahead, you can.

This professor is so easy. His grading is easy too you just take like 1 or 2 quizzes a week and the quiz question is right from the book and gives you the answer! Also he tells you the essay questions for the final.

He was pretty organized. World History 1 was easier with him, but 2 was still cake. There's 2 exams, a lot of quizzes. The quizzes you don't even have to study for though because the quiz question is usually one of 5 in the end of the book chapter and they are answered there, just make sure you know those. Only a few project type things. He canceled a lot of classes for WH1, but WH2 he we didn't have many cancellations. I highly recommend this professor to anyone. He was super easy if you do the work!

I had a good experience with Dr. Burg. He is a pretty interesting teacher as far as his lectures go. We would have readings almost every class and then he would quiz us on certain ones. The nice thing is that he posts his quiz questions on Blackboard and also tells you when you will have the quiz so no surprises. Very good teacher. Highly recommended!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Dr Burgs Class!! He is the nicest guy and starts every class by saying Welcome back!! There were a lot of papers to write and a lot of work to do but the way he broke it up it never really seemed like we were doing too much. The class was interesting and he explained everything really well. It was a fun class and I would take him again. If you have to take theory and practice do whatever you can to make sure that you have Dr. Burg!!

I really disliked history in high school and so I dreaded taking the World History I course freshman year. It was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. There was some work involved, but I actually learned things (that were interesting even). I would recommend him for any History course, especially if history isn't something you usually enjoy.

Dr. Burg did an excellent job instructing this class. It would have been very easy to feel overwhelmed with all the deadlines and writing if Dr. Burg wasn't such a great teacher. Perhaps even more importantly, I really feel that I learned a great deal in his class...I definitely got the most for my dollar in this class and I feel like I am better prepared to take on any future challenges that my pursuits in History may take me. I highly endorse taking a class with Dr. Burg.

He's a really great teacher! My World History 1 professor was a complete moron so it was SO nice to have a professor who knows the material and enjoys coming to class everyday. There is 1 paper, 2 exams, 5/6 quizzes, and a debate. Everything is pretty easy as most of it is based on in class stuff, so all you have to do is pay attention and read the docs he assigns for homework. All his notes are coherent and make sense-the little tidbits of funny information he knows makes the class entertaining. If you have a passion for history, take Burg-if all you want is to get a decent grade and get out of history fast, take Burg...either way, you'll find yourself enjoying it. He always answers my e-mails in a timely fashion and his advice is helpful.

Dr. Burg is a wonderful prof who obviously loves his job. He would begin every class by saying 'Good Morning and welcome back to World History.' There are quizzes every week which can be a pain sometimes but they come from the questions that he gives out on the readings so they really aren't bad. There is one paper and two tests which also aren't bad. For your paper you get to pick between two choices which was nice. Overall he's a great guy and highly recommended.

We read several interesting books and do many group activities in class that keeps things interesting. His notes are very organized and detailed and his studyguide for the test is EXCELLENT! If you want to do a little extra work, learn a lot, and have a great time in class- take this guy!

Dr. Burg expected a lot for this class, in which the end result was a 12-15 page research paper. However, he was very lenient with deadlines and always found the time to meet with anyone who had questions. The course was structured, but a very pleasant classroom atmosphere. Take him if you want to learn something and get an A in the process.

However, he does not try to confuse you and gives a great study guide. He is such a nice person and loves what he does. He is so helpful too-he revised my paper that I wrote for his class! I recommend him to anyone who's not a slacker.

Dr. Burg is a great teacher; you can tell that he really enjoys teaching this subject. Every Friday we would have a 10 point quiz, but he chooses the question from a list that he gives the students ahead of time, so if you review all the answers, you will do fine. He gave a review sheet about a week before the exams (we had 2), and if you put some time into studying, the test questions were straightforward and simple. He also grades very fairly, and is quick to give full credit if you demonstrate knowledge of the material. Everyone in our class loved Dr. Burg: I never heard one bad comment about him. Definitely get into one of his classes if you can!

dr burg is great! i like history, but this ancient stuff could really have gotten confusing. he was able to connect and relate all of it, and do it in such a way that i still remember it a whole semester later - and i had him early in the morning too. he has a talent for making you understand, even (dare i say it) CARE about at least some of the stuff you learn. you will have to work a little, but he is definitely worth taking, unlike some professors (Diamond, anyone?).

Dr. Burg is a friendly guy who is always ready to help you if you need it. His lectures are really interesting and the biggest thing that you have to do is a paper on some of the documents that we read out of the Human Record. If you read the assignments and contribute to the class discussions, you are as good as golden during class. Listen to what he says and take good notes and you'll do wonderful in his class. He also tries to present the "Big Bang" and evolution crap without pushing it on you. I think that is because of his Jewish background, so he has a real appreciation for all religions, and doesnt try to offend or push any on anyone, which I found to be awesome. Dr. Burg is a wonderful prof, I'd love to take him for another class!

I thought that was the worst class ever. When i was told that i had to take world history II, i was very hesitant. Well, i took dr. burg, and he was great. He will teach you everything you need to know abotu history from 1500 onward. He made history FUN!!. there is a lot of group interaction in his class. there is a quiz every week.. which isn't too hard i fyou read the book. and you will actually enjoy his class. there is a midterm and a final,,, and a paper.. and that is all.. there may be a debate, or .. somethin like that, but overall it shouldn't be too diffiult. I recommend him. Like i said eariler, i hated history until i took his class. he is also a easy going prof. :)

I agree with the person below, how did he get so many positive comments? I have not learned ANYTHING in his class and I frequently feel unprepared even after completing assignments. As a straight A honors student its frustrating when a teacher is so disorganized and oblivious to the fact that he's not teaching us in class. We get email updates only a few days before huge things are due and the readings are ridiculously long and pointless. I don't understand why anyone would recommend this professor. When I work my butt off for something I expect to be compensated fairly through accurate grading and some effort on the professors part. He's a really nice guy but not a good teacher, don't expect to learn anything if you take his class.

I've heard so many positive things about Dr. Burg from previous professors and from students here. However, I hate his class. It is the only one I am struggling in because he does not teach us anything in class. He comes off as such a nice guy, but he grades so hard on papers. He assigns an excessive amount of reading, even for an honors course. I honestly have one page of notes from half a semester in a world history class because there is no content whatsoever in class. Ridiculous.. I would NEVER recommend taking Dr. Burg.
