Hudson might be a horrible prof to a lot of people, and sure, class may seem challenging. But she knows a heck of a lot more history than your average history teacher. She approaches the course as if it were a grad school type course, but she does this kind of approach so students can be prepared for other history courses. Her quizzes and mid-term exams are hard, and the only minor suggestion I would offer is refer to the textbook or some form of notes that you would have received from the lecture. When writing a paper, it is probably best to talk with her during office hours to get a more accurate guideline of what she is looking for. She is always around to help, and she is a fair grader when it comes to exams and papers. I would have done real well, but if it weren't for one of the quizzes which I really killed, I would have ended up with an A. She is incredibly smart, and I would definitely recommend her for future reference for a World I class. She helps you write like a college student for World History II.

This teacher is horrible. She just lectures and you have to know what she's talking about because she doesn't stop to spell the incredibly difficult names for you. Her tests are IMPOSSIBLE!! I have never taken a test like that in my life. It was supposed to be matching, but she just lists multiple words in a paragraph and then more words in a second paragraph and you have to match what goes with what and the all match up to multiple ones...her short answer you have to tell what the object/place is, how it was used, why it was used, what it originated from, who used it, and where did it spread to? AND THEN there's essays. She gave us 2 to pick from and the question it's self took up half a page typed, so both essays were the whole back of the test and she made the comment to us that "She overestimated our ability to get the essays done in the time given..." UM YEAH! I can't write a ten page paper in 20 minutes!

Professor Hudson is one of the most interesting history profs I have ever had. Her instruction towards lecture seems a bit insane, and she loves going into tangents about certain eras in history and laughs at her own jokes. If you read the book and have a good hand at writing what she is saying at lecture, exams should be cake. Otherwise, prepare for a siesta.

Prof. Hudson was by far the WORST teacher that I have ever had. Her class is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE! All you do in class is take notes and she goes so fast that it is so hard to even get them written down. Despite having studied for 4 hours, I still failed her test. Her "quizzes" are harder than any finals that I have taken. If you get this prof. your best bet is to just drop out and not even bother even going to class at all. Even if you love history, and are looking for a challenge, stay away from her because she is insanely difficult.

She teaches this class like we already know all about history. No one ever has a clue what she is talking about. She teaches like it is a class for a major in history! Every class all you do is take notes and she gets off topic from her outlines notes. You have to do so much work. I did more work in this class then I have EVER done in one class. She makes you write papers and do maps. She puts tons of 30 page articles that you have to print off. For her review of the final exam she gave 15 pages on notes and terms. I studied for 7 hours and the exam was one question. It was horrible. Everyday I walked out of her class feeling dumb. I did not learn a thing except how to stress out over her class!

Being hired the Thursday before school starts is not a good thing. This lady is PSYCHO! She had us reading articles that she read when she was taking a masters class. Her tests are extremely hard and she said the only way we would be able to pass is if we had an open note test! DONT TAKE HER!!

Never take her. Her classes are so boring. She makes no sense and just rambles on about unimportant stuff. She doesn't translate any of the names in non-english speaking countries and expects you to know how to spell them. She just lectures everyday. Her grading is hard, no one ever gets an A. It has to be perfect.

Professor hudson is really nice and knows a lot of history, but she has no idea how to teach. This is a gen ed course and it is one of the hardest I've ever taken. Her tests are almost impossible. I'm trying to study for her final now and I am completely lost and am almost positive that I will fail it. She's really nice but needs to realize that we have no idea what she's talking about.

Okay, world history one is a gen ed course, and I really dont think this woman understands that. She teaches like we're all history grad students that pretty much know the topics before she presents them. I guess she makes it possible to actually do that, if you're willing to devote the time to read the massive amount of material that she decided to post on ereserves every week. Her notes range from passible to downright ridiculous. She goes on and on about random people and places from ancient India or China like you grew up right down the street from them. Her tests wouldn't be so hard if she told you what was going to be on them, instead of listing out every possible topic that may or may not have been mentioned breifly in class. She is very vague about her what she expects from her papers as well, so its hard to give her exactly what she wants. My advice is to avoid her if you can, and if not, just try to manage a passing grade, because alot of your classmates might not be able to.

Prof. H is not a good teacher at ALL! She treats this class like you are a bunch of history people in a graduate class. I did not learn a thing. I had to teach myself using the book. And you had to buy 6 books for this class and we only used 2. She makes you print pages and pages of things off of e reserves. If you do not devote your life to studying and writing her papers, you will FAIL! Her tests are very hard, she always curves because no one does good!

First of all, this lady teaches this class like we already know all about the topic. She teaches like it is a class for a major in history, and most of us are lost half the time. Her notes are sporadic, if that, and barely any of them have anything to do with the test. She insists on us writing three papers, though I would rather take her tests anyday over writing a paper for her. She needs help in planning her lessons and in good note taking. Her class is set up so that if you dont spend all your time studying for her class, you wont do well. All I can say is try to avoid her, she will not help anyone's GPA unless you are a history major and actually rememeber the stuff she is talking about from high school. A Gen Ed should not be this challenging, maybe she would be better suited teaching history majors.

Hudson was one of the most boring history teachers I have ever had, and that is tough to compete with. Not only were her tests difficult, her papers are graded harshly. She believes that since her mom was an English major, she should grade based on that too, though this is history. She makes stupid jokes, and her notes do not give enough detail. Yes, I have a decent grade right now, but I also studied for almost two weeks for her midterm. God save anyone who takes her.

This class was the worst class I had. Her notes were disorganized and illegible. She would get off subject so easily in lecture. You have 4 maps to do, and they are only worth 1.25 points! She assigns 3 papers to do, but she never really explained exactly what she wanted on them, and she graded the paper on english and grammer rather than history. This was the worst 3 hour class I ever sat through. Avoid if possible!

This class is the worst class I have ever taken! Prof. Hudson assigns more work that any of my other classes. Her lectures do not match her outlines she uses. She teaches the class like it is a masters class and everyone is a history major! You have to write 3 papers, which total 20 pages! You have to do 4 maps..which are ONLY worth 1.25 points!!!! Her study guide was ridiculous and most of the stuff on it was not on the exam! The ONLY positive thing I can say is she curves...and she is willing to help write papers.

I started off this semester working my butt off in every class. Now that things have quieted down and gotten to a manageable level, all I seem to do anymore is World History work. There were 2- 5 page historiographical critiques and a 10 page term paper due in this class. In addition to the only 2 exams (the midterm and final) she assigns 4 maps due through out the quarter. All of this wouldnt be a problem if she could get her stories straight. She didnt tell us we could use our maps on the exam, so 75% of the class took the test without it. Not that the maps helped anyone much. Her studyguide was completely ridiculous! Theres no way to study for this exam! I'd say about 80% of the class had a D before the curve. Which was only 4 points for my class, but like 9 or 10 for another class. Her exams are matching (which you have to write out yourself), short answer (you also write yourself), and an essay question thats got about 15 parts to it. She wanted 2 examples for each part, plus do the matching, and short answer in less than 50 minutes!!!! I spent 6 hours studying for this one stinking exam and only got a C! Her lectures are ridiculous as well! Her notes are often illegible, disorganized, and incomplete! You don't know whats important to know and what's not. The insane part is-50% of it wont even end up on the exam. I do have to say that she responds to e-mails within a day or two of them being sent. She's willing to help with writing papers too, but other then that this professor just downright stinks.

Here's the rundown. You will take A LOT of notes. Sometimes, they are hard to follow, and help minimally to take her tests. You will have 2 tests(midterm and final) but since most of her classes did bad on the midterm(which is 10 matching concepts with the area it came from, 5 short answer/definition...but you have to include what it is, what pd. it is from, why it's important, etc.) Good luck with that because she gives you about 50 terms to study. Then an essay, which I personally only had about 10 minutes to write and theres like 6 seperate questions you have to answer, so it's impossible to collect your thoughts before writing. She gave our class a 4 pt. curve, which probably didn't help very many people. Since we did bad, we had a quiz which was pretty much a test. You have to write 2 book critiques(we did Antigone and Canterbury Tales) which are sooo hard because she never explains what really to write. I didn't think her grading was that bad though, I got high B's, low A's on them. Then you write a 10-15 pg paper for your term paper on a topic of your choice. Pick something broad if you want to get enough info. The only things I can say positive about her, is that her grading really isn't that bad, I handed in assignments a week late and hardly got any deduction. She is very into history and although this is a gen. ed. course, I am still learning a little bit about ancient history. The other positive thing is that if you communicate with her, outside of class, she is very nice and personable..and it could help you out in the long run if you are having trouble in the class.
