I didn't mind this class at all. The workload is manageable, and he gives surprise quizes but you're allowed to use your notebook. He tells what's going to be on the midterm and the final, all you have to do is get all the information together and study it. He's also a very nice person and easy to get in touch with. If I could take him for History II, I would.

Professor Deyle is a pretty nice guy. All you do in class is copy the outline off overhead and then listen to him talk the entire time. Only a 5 page paper, a midterm, a final, and 5 random reading quizes which are open note. Its a good class if you dont want to do a lot of work but still learn something

Gives about 5-7 homework questions per night for a reading quiz the next day. But you can use any notes you take on the quiz the next day, very simple. The mid-term was 4 identifications and 1 essay, all exactly from a study guide. Pretty easy class but very boring.

I have never been so bored in my life. Deyle is very opinionated and spent the first class period bashing the BIBLE and discrediting everything in it. I didn't learn anything from this class, and had to write a paper on a stupid greek play about gender-roles and sex, which didn't seem historically significant at all. All the tests are essays and he grades them like an english professor (even if your content is right, he takes off for "style") Don't expect to know what your grade is either until the week before the end of the semester, because he doesn't give back your paper, or midterm, so you could be failing and have no idea. How hard is it to grade and give back 2 ASSIGNMENTS the whole semester???

Class is so boring. All he does is talk the whole time on one page of notes. There's a midterm, final, a 5 page paper, and 5 reading quizzes. The study guide that he gives you is so much work and too much infomation to even try to rememeber for the tests. I dreaded going to every class.

If you want to fall asleep every class then take this prof. Every class is one page of notes on the overhead then he takes the entire class period to explain the notes you took, which are self-explanatory to begin with. Lecturing and a boring movie now and then, which also put me to sleep. There's no tests though, just a mid-term, final, and a paper, and reading quizzes every once and a while. Very monotone voice and doesnt make class interesting..

The class is laid out in the syllabus. He has a reading and questions for discussion for every date of class. He gives 5 random reading quizzes on the discussion questions, but usually doesn't give them till near the end of the semester because he forgets. Had to write a 5 page paper on the play Lysistrata....not too bad. Pretty easy class, but very very hard to pay attention to in an 8am class. He talks in one tone of voice, which get extremely boring and you end up almost falling asleep.

This professor gives homework readings every night but the quizes are questions are right off the reading and you are allowed to use notes... although his classes are sometimes very dry and it is hard to stay awake, he is not that bad of a teacher... big lecturer
