Its plain and simple, he gives lots of work but they are mostly completion grades. He is a pretty lenient grader and if you do your work you will recieve a solid grade.

OK seriously Crochunis is not bad. Yes, he is very tough sometimes. And he does give a lot of pointless assignments. But he's funny in class, semi laid back, and when its one-on-one he is REALLY cool. I missed like 2 weeks because of the flu and he helped me thru it. He let me turn in things that were very very late for pretty much full credit. Seriously people, take him for WIFYS. He's very nice, funny, and understanding. He gives a lot of work, but hes a good guy who means best. Give him a chance.

Honestly I really enjoyed Dr. C at times... sure he can be a bit frustrating at times, but his class work was not hard at all. He assigned little homework assignments that were so easy as well as quizzes that were basically common sense. He went over all of the material that was assigned for homework and was willing to offer extra help to anyone. He is really quick to get back to emails and seems to generally care a lot for his students. All you have to do is go to class and you will get a good grade.

Sure, I agree with a lot of what's said in the negative comments. Crochunis does assign a lot of extra material he should more thoroughly go over in class. I would say to avoid him for English classes, but definitely get him for anything related to eduction. As someone who has graduated and gotten a job teaching, Crochunis seems the only professor aware of the Learning Focused Schools model of education, something you will need if you want a job anytime in the near future in education. Yes, he runs his classes like a middle or high school room. This is because the dude used to teach high school. He's showing you the methodology of classroom management in the way he teaches. Sure, he needs to work out how to summarize a lesson and make sure you understand everything, but his knowledge and value within the teaching field has been invaluable.

Ok, so the class was a little different. It seemed like you did pointless assignments and did a lot of group activity that was pretty ridiculous, but in the end it all came together. The only reason I got a B- was because I thought the daily assignments were pointless, but then realized at the end that if I would have had them then my grade would have been higher. You need them for your portfolio at the end! Also, he might seem like a dick in class. No, he IS a dick in class, but if you meet with him one on one you will understand and he is a pretty cool guy.. I actually wanted to take him again. He gives you a challenge, but its not one you cant beat. Half of the stuff is common sense, so I say take him.

I literally couldn't sit in class and listen to him. He drove me insane at some points. He talks about so many random things that nobody even pays attention to and he's really confusing. I could barely ever understand what were doing in the class or what I'm supposed to do. The assignments he gives are so pointless and the things he teaches in the class I think are also kinda weird. He gives a lot of papers and there are journals that we have to do every couple days. But we watch movies and the class is chill... other than that though I hated the class.

Honestly this guy is a total ass... I did not understand a thing he talked about. He makes no sense and he has a very judgmental aspect to him. I would not recommend him to anyone. Even though he makes himself available to discuss stuff there is no point because everything he talks about is BS.

I get so frustrated when even thinking about him. He is the worst teacher/ professor I ever had. I didn't learn anything. We barely did any writing, and we read like 6 novels and it was a waste of time. The writings we did were stupid and we only did four and he is only counting the best one (really stupid if you ask me). The readings were so stupid, confusing, boring, and just completely ridiculous. I am so mad I had to deal with that! Worst professor and try to avoid at all costs.

I agree with all the other posts. This professor assigns so much work that it's hard to keep up with. We hardly touch on all the books he assigns and in class we do pointless assignments and group work that just takes up more time than it should. He offers no direction in any of the assignments and the student is expected to just figure it out. I have no idea how I'm doing in this class because the grading scale is impossible to figure out. This professor is frustrating. Try to avoid him at all costs.

To avoid making this a rant, I'll keep it brief. This man is useless. I learned nothing. Were it not for other people I knew in the field, I would have stopped pursuing a teaching certification. He assigns books on a whim, doesn't discuss them and treats the students (COLLEGE STUDENTS mind you) like middle schoolers. Dr. Crochunis is hands-down the worst prof I have had at Shippensburg.

Where to start....this guy is a joke! You learn nothing in the class and waste your time doing work. You read a ton of books and never talk about them. We read 5 books and only had one little quiz on 1 of the books and didn't even spend more than a day on any other books. We read two books within the last 4 classes and never talked about them. The reading is so scattered that you canít even keep track of your reading and it is so much reading at once that it is impossible to keep up with. It is supposed to be a writing class and the only thing you write is your four papers. His grading system is out of this world and impossible to understand. You may as well just guess what your grade is going to be because there is no way to figure it out. You have stupid class work to do that has nothing to do with the books or the class at all and they donít count towards your grade. Your papers are half your grade but his grading system is horrible, so you canít figure out what grade you got on the paper any way. He grades your papers by whatever he wants to give you pretty much. I had an English major help me do one of my papers and I got a c- (I think) on it. He is ridiculous!! The only good thing about him is that he does answer e-mails fast and is around during his office hours, but besides that he is horrible!! Unless you want to be totally lost, learn nothing about writing, and waste your time, stay away!!!

This guy is ridiculous!! I may have gotten a B-, but I actually have no idea how the hell I got that. He's so annoying and doesn't teach. He bounces all over the place and makes you do that dumbest things, he splits up books. Tells you to read half and then 5 weeks later, wants you to finish it. Nobody knew what was going on, or why we had to do the in-class activities. It was a terrible class, NEVER take him. *I normally enjoy writing, as does my best friend, but we wanted to kill ourselves after every class* He also makes you spend like $50 on a program, when you could use one for free and the system doesn't even work. NEVER TAKE HIM! RUN THE OTHER WAY

He is new at ship this year and you would think he is teaching at Harvard. The man cannot teach and does not teach. You read the books and then you discuss them, but none of the books you read has an answer, or at least he doesn't tell you what you should know. The man is just a horrible teacher, probably the worst here. I would try and stay away from this class if you want to keep your GPA up.

Okay...Dr. Crochunis is a nice guy, hes easy to talk to and hes really interesting because he is extremely smart. However, his class is insane. You read tons of material which is pretty much all plays and poems (not what you would think a literature class would be). He also asks questions that make you think...but you're not even sure where to begin because he never explains fully or gives you any real answers. Almost every class you get into groups to discuss the work you just had to read, and again there is no feedback so you don't know what hes going to expect from you on tests. There are barely any grades in his class, you don't even know what your grade is until way after early warning grades, and the topics he has for papers are ridiculously hard to understand and expand on. Overall, I was exposed to a lot of ideas in his class, but never really given any concrete answers to questions discussed which was personally very frustrating. You won't have that much work out of class with him, but you will be VERY confused unless you are a drama, theatre and literary whiz.
