Subject: Good Gen Ed Professor  (Dec 28 2006, 09:21PM)

I took this class pass/fail, but I shouldn't have because I got an A without even really trying. He gives a quiz each week, but it's only 10 questions and pretty straightforward. This is how he checks for attendance. He gives four tests (one being the final) and if you look over the powerpoint notes and the quiz questions it's not that bad. I did study for the first test, just so I could have a buffer for the end of the semester. For a general eduction class, this professor is perfect!

Bennett's a good professor. I took this class pass/fail so I didn't put too much effort into it (and I passed). All you have to do is show up to class, copy the notes he gives, and participate. There is a small 3 page paper, but you can write about almost anything. Also, his tests and quizzes are pretty easy - they are mostly multiple choice and short answer. I don't even remember using the book that often. In order to succeed in his class, you just need to have good notes, participate, and pay attention.

Took this class as a gen ed and got one of the only A's Ive ever had in college.. this class is extremely easy. Just show up and copy the powerpoint slides and you're bound to get at least a B. Quiz every week but comes straight from notes, no big problem. One paper on current event topic, just write about chemistry and get all the points. You get points just for showing up to class.. very easy and I actually found some of the stuff interesting.. also, plenty of opportunities for easy extra credit.

Subject: Dynamics...ehhh  (May 18 2006, 04:14PM)

Overall, Dr. Bennett wasn't that bad for chemical dynamics. His lecture did get confusing at times and he did make a couple of math errors that were easily corrected, but that was only a minor problem. He always encouraged students to come by if they had any issues regarding the material. Even though you might not get the gist of his explanations, it is always best to see someone else or refer to a chemistry textbook. Most of his exam problems came from the homework we did, and most of the theory questions came from his lecture, so it should strongly be advised to go to class, even though he has no attendance policy. I took him because I knew I could learn, not just so one can earn an easy three credits. Trust me, it wasn't that easy. You show up to his class, look over the material INFREQUENTLY (so you can do these equations in your sleep), and come to him with lots of questions and you'll be fine. Dynamics was difficult, but it was not "immensely painful" to the extent of Dr. Lacy's class.

He's nice and always willing to help. His lectures aren't very well organized and can get pretty boring and monotonous. He doesn't grade the homework. tests and quizzes are long and pretty tough and make up the majority of the grade. I would've rather taken Dr. Lacy.

Hard class, first of all... His teaching style is good if you read but if you don't, don't count on ONLY the posted slides. They're not a huge help. He's very picky on work and calculations. Take him to learn, not to get an easy A.
