Subject: Fantastic Professor  (Oct 06 2014, 01:29AM)

I had Carlin when I was a sophomore for Comm Law and he was fantastic. It's not even that the material is super easy and he doesn't pay attention to your attendance, in fact it's the complete opposite. The man is a genius. He really understands the class' needs and note-taking is actually exciting and fun. He'll help you anytime you need it (which you probably won't) and the in-class experience with Carlin is a riot. He's hilarious, on top of his work and really gives you in-depth details of how to understand Comm Law in a way that isn't memorizing. We watched interesting movies that really brought lesson plans together and taking the exams is like review of all the material you learned in class - it's also easy if you attend every class and pay attention. Anyway, this man is probably one of the best professors I've ever had at Shippensburg. If you see his name available for ANY class, TAKE HIM! You will not regret it.

Best teacher in ship hands down, he is willing to work with you whenever you need it. He also is very understanding if you are sick or late. He changed my college experience and I'm glad I took him.

Dr. Carlin is awesome. He's cool as sh*t and loves to joke around. I had him for a bs gen ed and he treated it that way. He had these journals and performance reviews to do throughout the semester which you'd get a 100% on if you actually did them. The two tests aren't bad as long as you spend at least a half hour studying on each. No final and a fun last group project! Do yourself a favor and take him.

Dr. Carlin is a great choice for "Senior Capstone" if you are looking to leave SHIP with an easy A. He does everything he can to make the learning experience enjoyable, and students actually do learn material that will help them after graduation. Overall, Dr. Carlin is recommended to help ease some of the stress that is a part of the senior year.

Subject: A Bit More Work (but still an easy A)  (May 31 2007, 02:34PM)

Before the semester began, Dr. Carlin made it very clear that his "Electronic Field Production" class was not one to be taken lightly. This was the first time this class was taught at Shippensburg, and Dr. Carlin did everything he could to make it enjoyable for his students. Once again, he proved that he truly is a professor who cares and wants the students to succeed.

Dr. Carlin is a great professor who makes class easy and enjoyable for his students. He is quite humorous, and class is rarely ever boring. Dr. Carlin does a great job at preparing his students for a future in the broadcast business and puts a lot of time into helping them succeed. I highly recommend this professor for a fun class and a great boost for the ol' GPA.

Dr. Carlin is a great professor. His teaching style is very laid-back, and he's constantly referencing sports, movies, television, music or anything else to help the students better understand the material being presented. Dr. Carlin gives many chances for extra credit and does his best to make sure his students succeed. Overall, you should definitely take him because you'll have a great time and receive an easy A.

Dr. Carlin rocks! He is the coolest teacher that I have taken in a long while! It's a refreshing change to actually have a teacher that gets into what he teaches. He's an awesome guy and a great teacher. He grades fairly and he is always cracking jokes. Take him if at all possible, you won't regret it!

Dr. Carlin is the nicest, most easy- going professor on this campus. His classes are fun, fairly easy, and did I mention FUN? He is the poo, so take him. NOW. You won't regret it.

Dr. Carlin is seriously one of the best professors this campus has to offer. His classes are rather large so it's sometimes hard for him to make class as effective as it could be. There's no papers or group work. His tests are very fair and he gives you a study guide. Although it's hard for him to give individual attention in class, he is more than willing to go out of his way to meet up with you to talk about class, Orioles, or any other subject you want. He truly understands his students and I would recommend any Comm student to take him.

Subject: More Credit Due!  (Feb 15 2004, 10:47PM)
Student: Anonymous (Comm./Journ.)
Class:Broadcast Media, Programming (A)

As I'm writing this, Dr. Carlin only has 2 ratings (both positive). I can't believe more Comm./Journ. majors aren't giving him more props! Dr. Carlin is 1 of my top 3 profs on campus. He's funny, talkative, and... well... funny! His classes are not hard, just study a little and show up to class. He loves to talk about current events and then he like acid trips back to his college days, where he talks about listening to Chicago & Van Halen, and watching General Hospital in the study lounges (while pimpin to the ladies). Dr. Carlin knows how to get through to his students and the information will actually stick. As I said before study a little bit for the exams (study guides are given) & show up to class and you'll not only pass, you'll have a little fun too. Very highly recommended here!
