I had Dr. Knight my first semester of college and he was very effective in teaching the material. He sets you up with all the material you need for writing your speech and is very open to helping you. He also made the class very entertaining because he came off as a little theatrical.

Here's the deal: He should teach other professors how to teach. You learn stuff and he brings it. He always has great information and does good with getting the class to get involved and he has great examples and the class has taught me so much about how we communicate beyond just what we say--it is so much more about what we do and then what that says to other people. I want to take more classes with him as the teacher, because I really look forward to going to the class! He treats you like a person and not some student beneath him. I am signing up for next semester and so should you.

Knight is not only very clear and helpful, but he will go the extra mile for you if you ever need help. He even schedules work days for you to come in and get help one on one and to get feedback from other students in class before you get rated. I also think his teaching style is one of the best and he always uses great examples so that the class material makes sense and you can really apply it to your own communication style. He is one of the best and if you take his classes you will not regret it!

This class was a great experience and helped me more than I thought it would. The professor was very informative and kept things interesting. I have recommended him to others as I feel that he cares about students, teaches a great class, and overall I think he is one of the best professors I have had.

Subject: A great professor, honest and passionate  (Dec 22 2008, 05:53PM)

Dr. Knight, or "Knight-train" as he is known, is an excellent professor in many different ways, but the most impressive part about him is his passion for what he teaches. He is more than willing to answer questions in class, and if he doesn't answer it there, he is always available in his office hours or via email. I've learned a great deal about human communication and life from this man. He's honest, open, and entertaining as well to make him an all-around, well-rounded professor.

His classes go by so fast you won't believe you stayed the whole time but you always do, and you won't mind! Discussions in his class are always fun, interesting, and you actually learn about something beyond the book chapter. Knight is also always there to help outside of class if you need it. His classes are not easy by any stretch of the mind but if you pay attention and put in the effort they are the best for learning about how they actually apply to your life and work. The only issue is his tests are a bit hard but look at the syllabus and you will see they don't count as much as other assignments do. Overall an awesome professor that you should take for as many classes as you can!

He is one of the best professors I have had at Ship. He is reasonable, teaches extremely well, and cares about the students in class. I tell all of my friends that have to take intro to human communications to take Dr. Knight and they all say the same when they have taken his classes. I wish more professors were like him, especially when you have to take them early in the morning!

Dr. Richard "Dickie" Knight as my friends and I refer to him- is a great person to just begin with. I had his wife for a class my soph. year and she was just as prolific! Real cool Family. Tests can be challenging sometimes but he prepares you well and it's ultimately in your hands to do your best. He really cares about your learning as a student and his examples in class are current, relevant, and hilarious. I've had 2 classes with him so far and plan on trying to take 2 more my senior year. TAKE HIM, you'll have to work for a good grade but he makes it fun!

Dr. Knight is extremely bright and funny, and you will learn a lot in his classes. He let the students decide the format of exams, and his assignments are not designed to destroy your social life. He shows great movies that actually relate to class, too. A no B.S. guy who will tell it to us like it is. I highly suggest his classes to anyone.

Knight is an awesome guy and his class is really easy. There are 5 speeches. Two 2 minute interpersonal reports that are the easiest things. One group project, an informative and persuasive speech. His class is pretty fun and you take notes most days and the questions of the day is something interesting to start off the day. Take him for human comm and you'll be glad you got him instead of your friends being stuck with Kingsley =]

Dr. Knight made a class that I didn't want to take a lot of fun and he made me realize how important communication really is. He is a very intelligent guy but he is very funny too, and class is never boring. He uses a lot of great examples and videos to explain communication. There were two speeches, a group project, a paper and tests. The only part of the class that I might criticize would be a lot of notes and he also did a quiz on every chapter in the book. I probably would have gotten an A if I would have studied more for the tests but I did learn a lot and I really feel like Dr. Knight wanted me to do well.

Dr. Knight knows his stuff but he's a very rapid speaker and his lecture material is pretty dry. He can be hard to pay attention to but with some work his class is more than tolerable.
