What can I say, I thought I'd hate this class, but yet it was pretty good and interesting. I got pretty good grades and barely any homework. I learned a lot of skills in this class and recommend this professor to others.

Dr. Durham is a lovely, happy, wonderful lady. She is also very intelligent and you can definitely learn a lot from her if you know how to listen. I have to give her the benefit of the doubt for this class, because she didn't know that she was teaching it until the last minute--it was essentially thrown into her lap and she had no time to prepare to teach it. She used the previous professor's syllabus and tried to adjust throughout the semester. The class was a little crazy at points, and occasionally things didn't really make sense. She seemed to be a bit unorganized, but, again, this can be expected based on the situation. Despite some craziness, Dr. Durham was able to teach us a lot of pertinent information and started a lot of interesting class discussions. On another note-- she grades very easily if you simply show that you care and put thought into your work. If you have the chance (and some patience), I'd recommend taking her.

Okay, so Dr. Durham is a fun, sweet professor, and her class is quite easy if you do the work on time. But, the thing is, it's difficult to determine when everything is due. She rearranged the syllabus numerous times, and she wasn't very clear on how she wanted things done or when it was due. However, she was pretty understanding if you were up front with her and let her know what assignment was late. She is a great professor to take if you're not sure you want to teach, because she gives you good information. As far as grading goes, it's not too bad. My only complaint is that she doesn't tell you exactly what she wants, and if you misinterpret it, she takes a lot of points off for "not following directions." If you're an organized person who attends class regularly, this class will be great for you. If not, I would suggest avoiding her! : )

Dr. Durham is the worst professor you'll take for education classes here at Shippensburg. She is unorganized, gives horribly vague directions, and doesn't teach. She constantly has to change her sylabus because she doesn't check to see when certain things are (such as Student Teacher Exhibition Day, or School board meetings). Also, she doesn't even know anything about schools, other than from her ELEMENTARY school experiences as a teacher. She reads from her powerpoint slides and gives a bunch of busy work. Her directs say "Explicit Directions" but they are far from it. She doesn't specify what she wants, and for the midterm she never gave us a clear cut study guide. The study guide was pretty much the powerpoint titles and that is it. She shouldn't have even wasted her time for that. And, the midterm was extremely picky and under organized. I have never had a problem with a professor on campus, but she is a complete spaz. Someone who is teaching us about teaching, cannot, herself, teach. I'm not even through the semester and I'm posting a negative comment about her. Now I know why my fellow classmates told us to "have fun with Durham." REMEMBER - STEER CLEAR AND DON'T TURN BACK!

Dr. Durham is terrible. She lost one of my papers I turned in and when I found it in the bottom of the box that we submit papers in and showed her that it was turned in on time she called me a liar. She took 20 mins out of our midterm test taking time to COPY THE MID TERM!. She is extremely unorganized and wastes a lot of class time copying papers for class and running back to her office to search for something she forgot. She always gets dates screwed up and I learned absolutely nothing from her. I ended up having to go to the dean to complain about her because I handed in a paper for her to look over before submitting it and she never gave it back. When I submitting the paper again on the due date she graded both papers (which were actually the exact same paper) and gave me two completely different grades!! SHE IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PROF I HAVE EVER HAD!

Dr. Durham is by far the worst teacher I have had. She is often mistaken about dates, and very vague on details. Her handouts are unclear and disorganized. She's a hard grader but fails to teach the content of what she wants you to know. Also, the one extra credit opportunity she offered was 10 points for attending her church service. I kid you not. Her notes are very scattered, and hard to follow. I strongly recommend you avoid her as a professor!

While I admit that my bad grade was because I fell behind at the beginning of the school year, it stayed that low because it is impossible to play catch up in Dr. Durham's class. She is immovable and unrelenting when it comes to understanding the problems of her students and accommodating their needs, which is ironic given her spiels about "putting students first" and "least restrictive environments." She is very disorganized, never explains what she wants on projects, allows NO absences to class without penalty(not even ONE!!), and unmistakably gears her class drastically toward elementary education. On a lighter note, she also uses the word "cognoscente" too much, sometime in places where it is horribly inappropriate...

I think Professor Durham is a great person, but I would never recommend her. I actually loved the things we did in class, but she was so unorganized and she never told us what she wanted... It was rather frustrating. And yes, she does give you decent grades, but you go through a lot of crap, too. Especially in the middle or at the end of the semester when she screws everyone's grade up.. Once again, good person, but I don't recommend her.

So overall, Dr. Durham is a nice professor and runs a pretty easy class but I never knew when anything was due and throughout the semester it seemed like she didn't know what she was talking about. Honestly, it seemed like she didn't want to be there more than any of us did. She's super unorganized too. SO glad the class is over.

For someone teaching classroom management, she did not seem to have much. Her organizational system and teaching style did not do much "modeling" for us. She was quick to judge our ideas about how they would not work in the classroom, but there were no first hand examples. Also - she is very elementary focused, so if you are secondary, you might want to take someone else.

She is nice, but is very disorganized. They pack a lot of material into the class and she emphasizes diversity a lot in her class, which is a good thing.

Dr. Durham certainly knows what she is talking about and will get you to think about whether or not you really want to be an educator. However, she is extremely disorganized, cancels class alot, and rearranges the syllabus numerous times. Take her if you want to do a lot of REFLECTING - don't take her if you don't want to work.
