Dr. freddy is a great professor, and may be a little hard to understand at times but he has lots of opportunities for extra credit and does a review before the tests. He always puts all his notes online for you to look at. Recommend taking him if you get the chance. He makes a topic that is pretty dry very interesting and always answers any questions you have.

Couldn't have asked for a better professor. If you show up to class and contribute to discussion there is no way you can fail. It seemed to me that the only ones who did poorly were the ones who didn't go to class. He makes everything so simple and knows so much about econ. If you have a question he will always answer it so that you can understand. Some people complain about his english and writing but after the first week you don't even notice it. If you need to take econ freddy is your guy.

Freddy is a great prof. He gives out TONS of bonus points that he adds to each test grade. I had 13 bonus points on one of my tests, so he added 13% to that test grade for me. I had around 10 for the other three. Just go to class, takes down the notes he writes on the board, and do his practice quiz before the test. And he spends the day before each test reviewing exactly what will be on the test. Easy A.

Dr. Freddy (as he suggests you call him) is a good prof. There are 3 tests and lots of extra credit opportunities.. he will literally say for 5 points... or 2 points... or 3 points.. he offers these for answering one question correctly in class. And all of the points you build up are added to your exam grades! They really helped me! The only problem is that he has a kinda heavy accent and his handwriting is sloppy but for the most part you can understand him or make out what he is trying to say. He helped me to understand economics a lot better than I have before. so go ahead take him! Just remember to listen up for... "for 2 points, who can answer...?" lol.

Good Prof. Always seemed in a rush, 3 exams total and he gives you all of the content on a review sheet before the exam. The final is the last exam which is non cumulative. Easy class and useful information.

Dr. Siahaan, or Dr. Freddy as he suggests to call him, is an AWESOME professor. I can't imagine taking an easier economics class. Yeah, the class is based on 3 exams and attendance/class participation, BUT he gives you his class notes and practice exams before the actual exam. TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM if given the chance.

This professor is great!!! He has entertaining classes, and he always gives you his notes and a practice quiz before each exam. The practice questions is the test with different numbers... so go to class and you are guaranteed a good grade.

Subject: If I liked econ more, I'd take him again  (Apr 28 2008, 10:47PM)

Dr. Siahaan is a really nice guy. He explains everything you need to know, and if you have any questions, he'll gladly answer them for you. He'll do anything to help you out and to give you a good grade. His tests are based on the problems we did in class, and if you do badly on one of them, he'll give your good grades more weight. He also gives out extra credit at least once a day. You also learn a lot of practical applications that help you learn more about what goes on outside the classroom in the "real world." He teaches in a way that's easy to understand despite his accent (which isn't so bad at all-sometimes kinda funny) and if you talk to him outside of class, he'll always remember you and talk to you in the halls or where ever. I'm not a big fan of econ, but if I were...I'd take him again!

This was one of my favorite professors here. He was really entertaining and made class interesting. At first I was nervous cuz he does have a little accent, but its not a big deal at all! He gives a ton of extra credit points starting with "for five points who can tell me ..." at least a couple times every class and they really help you!! He gives practice tests which are very similar to the ones you get in class so go over them. He will answer anything and not make you feel stupid at all if you answer wrong! He wants to help students. TAKE HIM!

Dr. Siahaan is a great professor. I enjoyed his class a lot because of his knowledge of the subject and his ability to explain things rather thoroughly. Whenever he randomly says "for three or two points answer this..:" SPEAK UP! They are towards your exam grade! Extra credit. Its a nice bonus to keep your attention during his class. Plus he offers some extra point/percentages towards your final grade if you participate. Its on a scale from one to ten points. Participate! He never ridicules you or makes you feel stupid. Never be afraid to ask questions because he'll explain it to you more in depth or give a logical example. Anyone who wrote something negative must not have the guts to ask questions in his class when they were confused, because he truly is a great prof. However, he does go rather quickly through his notes that he scribbles a little bit. For the guys - no problem, but for ladies - it may seem illegible. Take him!

He is here to make sure everyone learns the required information.... He moves a little fast at times but if you ask him one small question he will probably go over the whole thing again. He usually spends the two classes before the exams doing review and he gives practice problems that are almost exact to the exams. Attendance and hw are used for the assignment of ten bonus points.

I think that Freddy showed up to class on time maybe 5 times the entire semester when his office is less than 100 ft away and he does not have a class beforehand. This prof loves to choose favorites and if you are not one of them be prepared for very little help. He is terribly about responding to emails and will say that he was "too busy" even though he would promptly respond to his favorites' emails right away.

Dr. Siahaan is an awful prof. The whole class is nothing but complicated business math. His tests are very difficult and your grade in the class depends on 4 tests. You do a lot of class work, but none of it counts. You have to copy his notes from the board, but his handwriting is unreadable! When you ask him a question, he makes you feal completely worthless and stupid. And, whatever you do, do not go to class late, because he will embarass you and make you an example to the whole class on what "not to do". I have seen him do this to students many times.

This class was very hard for me. The amount of material that was on the test made it feel overwhelming. He only has three tests that determine your grade, no homework points or group work.
