The tests aren't bad if you pay attention, but a lot of the multiple choice ?s are vocab from the book. Overall a quality prof and I'd recommend taking him. His negotiation class is valuable too, and even if you're not a management major I'd recommend it if you have a free elective, since you use negotiation in almost every business field.

I loved Dr. Goates' class. Even if you were not interested in the subject, he would add in little jokes or just go off on random tangents that were so funny, that it would keep you interested and paying attention. Like the other people said... 3 case study papers with a partner and the group project. Not too hard and you can re-do them if you want. Even if I had failed the class, I still would have left a positive comment... he's a very inspiring professor and you can tell he loves what he teaches.

3 case papers and a final group project. He was such an easy grader on the papers, and he lets you redo them if you do not like your grade, the only exception is he will not give you higher than a B on the rewrite. Other than that his classes are awesome and you almost have to participate. GREAT PROFESSOR!

Dr. Goates is a really nice professor. His classes are a little boring at times, but if you read and participate they are fun. There are no tests only 3 case study papers that he is rather easy on the grading. There is one big group paper and presentation that is a little ambiguous at first, but once you get a topic he will help you along the way. Nothing was really learned in the class because there was no reason to study. Dr. Goates is a really easy to talk to guy, and kinda cute!

Soooo I thought class with him would be fun, I was wrong. His class wasn't that bad to sit through, but I learned a whole lot of nothing. He barely ever gives notes, he makes you read A TON of articles and picks and chooses what he feels like talking about. He gives kinda pointless examples and stories. He doesn't explain his assignments the way he WANTS them, he just assumes you know and you might just HAPPEN to ask the right questions. His exams are the worst - no study guides. Just reread EVERYTHING and know ALL the terms from 5 chapters and you MIGHT do well. If you take him, you better be damn good at memorization.

While Professor Goates is a reasonable man, he definitely picks favorites and graces them with kind words while leaving others to feel as if their ideas are worthless. Professor Goates strongly recommends that you volunteer, but when you do, he pretty much makes you feel like you don't make sense and your opinions are worthless. There are 3 partner cases required that are not that difficult and it's not too hard to achieve a good grade. There are in-class quizzes that require you to remember the tiniest details that are extremely unimportant. However, these quizzes can earn you a decent amount of points since he has a unique grading scale. There is also a large project and presentation that isn't too bad, as long as you follow his exact plans. There was one group who failed for merely being original. I did well, but I was probably just lucky, or in good groups. Be wary!

3 papers that you can rewrite, 1 teamwork project, a bunch of quizzes, a peer reviewed paper and some class assignments are what he grades on. All those papers suck to do and they are a bitch. The class is interesting and he is a very smart teacher. Good guy. A lot of reading to do for every class. The class is not that bad but I really did not look forward to going to it. Take it but be warned its not a fun class... a lot of writings and readings but no exams
