She seems to know a lot about writing (considering she has published books and was involved in actual magazine editing!) In the beginning of the semester, I was a little nervous since my first impression was that she was strict. But toward the end of it, you could tell she cared about the success of the students and had a good sense of humor. I certainly learned a lot from the course which is why I'm taking her for another one!

Professor Witmer/Anderson was a great teacher. I really appreciated how much she knew about journalism and how well she applied it in the classroom setting. At first she came off as a bit moody, but as the semester moved along and I got used to her style, she was very easy to get along with. Make sure you do the homework (especially if test-taking is not your strong point)!! The assignments are a little repetitive (mainly book assignments), but the points definitely add up in the end. Also, looking at the extra credit as if it is part of the homework really helps as well. I highly recommend taking this or any other class with Prof. Witmer!

This woman is wonderful! I loved being in her class. She is easily one of the best professors I've ever had, because she cares so much about her students. She wants everyone to succeed and she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Her tests are super easy if you do the readings and pretty much the only homework she ever gives are the review questions in the book, which are really easy if you do the readings. I would definitely take her class again.

She is an AWESOME prof. She's so young, yet still has experience as a magazine editor, so she definitely knows her stuff. The material in her class is very manageable, with the only downside being that you have to read about 30 pages a night and answer 10-20 questions about the reading for homework. But she gives tons of extra credit opportunities, all her power points are up on blackboard so you don't even have to take notes in class, and her tests are pretty easy. They're made up of a lot of multiple choice questions, some short answers, and 2 long essay questions, but if you pay attention in class and actually do the reading, you'll be fine. This is an awesome class, and she loves to see her students succeed. I'm definitely taking Media Writing with her next semester!!

Prof. Anderson was a really nice person. I got in A in both of her classes. For writing, there was just a lot of papers, which is what the class is, but she offers to go over them with you and your peers read them over too and help you out. There is a lot of reading in Lit ... obviously. There was like 30 to 50 pages usually and writing reflections were homework and extra credit. I think she was very efficient and tells you exactly what she wants you to do and wants to help everyone. We usually got out a little early too which was nice. I would say take her if you can.

Yea she was new this year, and she was trying hard to get used to things, but in this class... so were most of the students. She was a very effective professor and very nice. You just need to show that you are putting effort in. Watch for current events quizzes

It's her first year, and I have to say she's trying pretty hard. Ask her any question, and she'll try to answer as best she can. Read that damn book even if it kills you, she gives pop quizzes on assigned readings and pulls most test questions from it. The group project isn't that difficult, and she grades most projects fairly easily. Professor Anderson also has experience in the magazine industry, and is knowledgeable about almost everything communications-related. : )

Prof. Anderson definitely did great her first semester here at Ship. She was only teaching intro to mass comm but I thought the book was very interesting reading. It is hard to take notes in the class so definitely read the book and hope you have a memory. I look forward to taking more classes with her.

Professor Anderson knows a lot about her field, and she tells her students a lot about this knowledge. There is a reading assignment, which is always a chapter (usually about 2 per week). Each class we discuss what we read, and sometimes she shows us other things, or we do other activities pertaining to the topic. Every week a blog post is due by 4 pm, and you just have to write about something media related (it's really easy points). She makes it clear that we should all have our own opinions, but we should always respect one another despite those differences - which is good. We have a midterm and a final, a few quizzes (some pop quizzes on current events in the media), and an individual and group project. The only complaint I really have is that I wish we had more quizzes or tests between the midterm and final. Her class isn't the easiest in the world, but definitely take Anderson if you want to really learn and not just take the easy way out.

Prof. Anderson runs a good class. The important thing to remember is to read the assigned work which sometimes can be lengthy at times. There was only 2 exams(midterm/final) and there are smaller projects along the way to help your grade. She is a very nice person who respects what the students say and often opens the room up for discussion. Her knowledge of the material is strong and overall is a good teacher. Her classes may sometimes be boring, but as long as you read and do the work you will be fine with her.

She's an awesome professor, she just has a slight attitude problem. If you try to play her, she'll bite back... if you're wrong, she'll let you know. However, the class is awesome. Just read the material, do the blogs, and you'll pass easily. No lie! Good luck kiddies ^^v

You have to read a lot for the class. Textbook chapters are basically her main homework assignments but you will learn a lot and if you pay attention and participate the class goes better.

I enjoyed intro to mass communications with Prof. Anderson. She's well qualified in teaching the subject, not just because she has a degree, but because she actually has experience in the world of journalism. All that is really required in the course is reading each chapter and having an understanding of the basic concepts. She also assigns smaller homework assignments which are kind of annoying, but every point counts...The only other big assignments are the group projects and the individual oral presentations. Those are kind of easy because you are able to chose your own topics, but she expects that you fully understand the topic that you are discussing. As a person, Prof. Anderson may come off as kind of cold and distant at first, but once you get to know her, you learn how to get along with her. Basically, never show up late to class, turn in assignments on time and participate during class discussions.

Professor Anderson-Witmer is tough-you have earn your grade. She expects a lot of work to be done (mostly reading) and for you to have a very specific understanding of the reading. Although I read, I found it hard to remember one specific name she was looking for. I tried my best and it turned out well for me, but be prepared to read a lot and focus while in class. She knows what she's talking about and expects you to know, too.

Prof. Anderson is new, and it seems as though she doesn't know how to teach yet. She can be very rude and makes mean comments daily. She expects you to read a 35 page chapter in one night. The tests cover 5 or 6 chapters, which is (add them up) A LOT of pages, and it only has about 30 questions. Avoid her at all costs.

This professor is a lady that knows her stuff, and she definitely wants to teach it to you. The work in her class is very demanding though. There is always something to be doing for her class. You will learn a lot, but always be doing homework. Lots and lots of review homework. Very effective teacher though, with big expectations.
