Take her if you are willing to go to the majority of the classes, because there are a lot of notes. If not, then don't take her. The course load is not bad, but the notes are key to her tests. No text books, straight notes and a couple of easy homeworks to get your grade up.

Professor Lemke is an awesome teacher if you put forth the effort in her class... by that I mean come to class. She will help you if you need it. My grade was a middle range C.... I went to see her during office hours and she was very helpful. Her tests are not hard if you study and come to class. If you do not show up (she has no attendance policy)and do not study you probably won't do as well, and thats your issue. I would recommend her to anyone, except those looking for a handout.

Subject: Very nice...and pretty easy, too  (Nov 03 2007, 01:33PM)

Ms. Lemcke is very young and you really feel like you can talk with her on your level. She is very passionate about Geography (and weather!). If you do not like just listening to lectures, don't take her - the whole class is lecture, with one group project and four tests that are easy if you study and go to class. There are also some homeworks that are easy and raise your grade. However, the lectures can be interesting, and the class doesn't really require anything but attendance and a little bit of studying. She is VERY helpful during office hours, and always there. I was very angry that I could not get into her section for Conservation of Natural Resources next semester. Really, I highly recommend her.

Subject: Seems nice, but I can't stand her.  (Oct 31 2007, 12:57PM)

Her tests are extremely hard and half the time it feels like she doesn't know what she is teaching. Sometimes the information she gives us doesnt match up with the book (On one good note, she does not expect us to buy the book). It is an incredibly difficult and very disorganized class. For instance, she will have an crossword puzzle with stuff we go over in class due at the beginning of the class on Monday but not give us information that we need to fill out said puzzle until that Monday when we have already turned it in. She is a nice enough person, but I just don't think that she should be teaching. She has a major in geology, not geography. Honestly, I have heard great things about the other geography teacher from a friend in his class, take him if you have a choice.

Prof. Lemcke is not bad for physical geography, don't get me wrong--the fact is, it's supposed to be a 100 level geography class with no math at all. She claims this is easy math, but for an individual who is not exposed to that much math since algebra in high school, it's pretty difficult. The description of the course says "lab is included in lecture," and all we do is fill out lab packets. Her tests are hard if you do not study and do not show up to class. She is a very nice, helpful professor, but her lectures are dry, long, and harsh. The last problem I have with her is grading in-class exercises and homework--even if you do not get the answer right, you should still get the points for attendance and participation. In her world, you get docked if the answer is not correct. She is very helpful in office hours if you do not understand anything, and replies to her e-mails quickly. Overall, Professor Lemcke is not bad, but she is not easy. Keep that in mind for electing future courses with her.
