Subject: Super nice  (Apr 07 2010, 08:58PM)

Dr. Cella is an incredibly nice prof. Sure, her WIFYS class wasn't the most exciting, but then again, it's writing... You can tell that she is enthusiastic about her job and simply loves teaching. She is very open-minded and not the type that looks down at her students or bickers with them. She does give out occasional pop quizzes but as long as you do the required reading (which isn't a lot) then you'll be fine. Her papers aren't difficult to write unless you're the lazy-type, then you're doomed. Discussions are important in her class but she's the type that can even make a shy person contribute to a a class discussion.

Dr. Cella is a one of a kind teacher. She is enthusiastic about her job and is passionate about helping her students. She treats all students as equals. She never talks down to a student and always considers their opinions. With writing essays, she gives a lot of feedback, so that your writing can improve. Also she lets students write about their own interests because she wants students to be passionate about their writing. Every essay I wrote for that class, I was proud of. I didnít just write because I had to; I actually enjoyed it. She is always willing to help. Dr. Cella even got together with me after all of her classes, just to discuss my essay with me. I brought in a pile of research and a rough draft, and she helped me sort through the information and come up with a great paper. She tries to challenge you and helps you reach your full potential. Do yourself a favor and take her!

Dr. Cella had us do different readings of essays, and then she taught us how to write effective researched essays to grab people's attention. I loved this class and would take it again if I didn't have to pay for it. :)

Dr. Cella is a very nice lady and is an excellent professor. For this class all you have to do is read nine novels and some short stories and each week post a paragraph or two on blackboard. Class is always class discussion and she loves for you to participate and always engages students. You only have one midterm, one annotated bibliography, one big paper, and then a final! An easy class, just read, participate, and you will do fine!

Dr. Cella is definitely one of the best profs at Ship and easily the best in the department. She has quizzes throughout the semester that are easy if you do the readings. There are also several papers based on in-class articles but she is very helpful and lenient if you have a good reason. Easily the most understanding professor at Ship and really cares about her students. Take her for anything you can!!

Dr. Cella is an extremely talented and enthusiastic professor! Although I didn't do the best in her class, she was so helpful on all major writing assignments. Her class had a smooth flow to it, and everything she talked about was essential to the course. Dr. Cella was always available in her office, and loves to send and receive e-mails. Even though I don't have her, I still stop by just to have a chat. She is really approachable, and caring to all of her students. TAKE HER!!

Cella is an incredible prof. to take for a writing class. She makes whatever you learn about fun and interesting and isn't afraid to joke around in class. You can tell she really wants to help her students; she is always willing to meet with you and talk about your work. With other profs, when I would write something, I wouldn't always get the feedback I wanted. But Cella gives you plenty of ideas about what you can strengthen and also always has something good to say about your work that you can develop more. She's extremely easy to talk to and I intend to take her again next semester. As it was a writing class, at points it would seem a little challenging, but that's only based on a student's own ability and ease when it comes to writing nonfiction. Overall, the class was easy, very enjoyable, and I feel like I learned a lot. I would suggest her to anyone!

I don't know why all of you guys liked her as a professor. As a person she is extremely nice but as a professor its just annoying. She is so passionate about writing but you have to do a community service project type thing. I have other stuff to do I can't be spending 10 hours interviewing a person. Yeah she makes you spend 10 hours with them. I never read but always did the writing posts and got perfects. Honestly if you can avoid taking her class then do so. If not you will survive, but barely.

Class:Intro to Lit (B+)

I don't know why Dr. Cella is rated so well on here. Her intro to lit class was horrible. You have to read 50 pages a class, she never told us in the beginning that we would have quizzes and then the 2nd class she gave us a pop quiz! She never covers everything she means to, is unorganized, has a group project that you have to present before the rest of the class even reads the book for it, so you have to read the whole thing ahead of time. Sorry but I have other classes, in which I'm actually learning something. I don't have enough time to just sit down every night and read 100 pages. She is just rude. If you don't participate in class, you will be on her bad side. I've heard all intro to lit classes are difficult, but this was just horrible. Don't take the class at all, save yourself.

Her class isn't the most exciting. She can drone on and on. She requires you to write papers and you must feel strongly about every topic. If not, you will not do well. If you love writing and are full of energy, very opinionated, passionate about writing, and an extravert, I'd probably recommend her. If you are introverted, kind of quiet, don't like speaking, don't feel strongly about every topic, and not the best writer, I wouldn't recommend her. Will you learn? Maybe. You learn some basic skills, but I can't say that my writing significantly improved, and I did try. I feel as though taking a political science class would be just as beneficial to your writing skills, if not more.
